Lateley I have been thinking about where this game will be soon? I hear about all the great new MMORPG's coming out or on their way etc. Or how this game is going to shit. I look around at all the NA with 3 level 75 jobs and I wonder if SE thinks "Well we let the NA have their fun along with the JP's, let pull the plug.

I never was into MMORPGs and thought they were for dorks only. Until I tried FF, and was immediately hooked, the only reason I tried it was because it was Final Fantasy of course. Hell after Dragon Warrior for the NES, Final Fantasy 1 was my next RPG ever. Since then I have played and completed them all (I think) So yes I am a "PS2 N00b" in that regard.

So how long do we have? In my obsession with making sure every level I complete I can be proud of, and being able at 75 to say "I had the best, at all times". Will i dick around and completely miss the HNM boat so to speak because SE pulls the plug too soon?

I have loved and will always love the FF series....From getting my ass kicked by Ruby Weapon for hours on end (Damn you!) to having to dodge 200 god damn lightning bolts for Lulus Ultimate weapon in FFX. (Ugh) or obtaining my Rat's tail in the very first FF to make my party "l337" God, I used to hate being sneezed out of the Coliseum by Mr. Achoo in FF3 (thats right fanboys, i said FF3 not FFXXXXIIXIIXIXIX or whatever)

I am the real deal when it comes to FF "Old schoolers" which is partially why i hate lazy players now. Where I come from, you did not "beat" FF games you "completed" FF games. I never had any problems with any of the last bosses because i went in to all of them with at max level with the best possible gear and all sidequests done. They were all a joke. I had a problem where I would put off fighting the last boss for weeks on end because I did not want the game to end and be over. Lol, now you can see where my "perfectionist" attitude stems from ^^

Alot of FF online players tell me they were the same way, yet their gear is trash and their subjobs are underleveled on their rat race to 75. This makes no sense to me. How could you be concerned with having the best on the other FF's and not this one? Could it be you can leech your way to 75 off other hard workers unlike the other FF's where you have only yourself to depend on? If this is the case maybe you gimps should dust off the old SNES and scrub it up as much as you want where you are not hurting those of us who love the game for the game.

So what you are telling me is that when mommy and daddy spent that 50 bucks on your FF7 (or FFXIXIXIXIXIX for the fanboys) back in 97' you didnt try to kill Sephiroth within the first 24 hours of gameplay time? Yet now you try to get to Kirin ASAP no matter how gimpy you are or who you leech on to for those 70+ levels? I apologize but that makes no sense to me.

Ugh sorry for yet another long winded post but I guess my question is how long do we have left? I don't think it's right for people who want to be the best all the way to 75 should get screwed over in the end. Should I start rushing good ol' Vang to 75 and skip all the other events that don't pertain to leveling? I want to kill HNMS and wear god gear, AF2, etc as well but not at the cost of losing pride in my character....What's everyones predictions on this?

This went from "What do you think FF will be in the future" to you rambling on about the rat race to 75. Good job! :D

I predict I'll keep playing until I either get frustrated, bored out of my skull, or the servers go down forever.

And what about you Vang? Well, if the "scrubs" bother you so much, I suggest you quit, and never play another MMORPG again. Because there are noobs/gimps/scrubs in all of them. Just like in real life.

I don't have any particular predictions. I don't think it is going to be doe any time i n the near future though. I just wanted to say good post, and i totally hear you with the whole "completing the game not beating it" bit.

You hit a note with that one. Have you ever played Xenosaga? It was a reallly good RPG the 2nd is comming out soon I think. Well the last boss, I beat it in 2, 3 hits tops. I had the "Ultimate" summon. Just used that, almost completely total'd him then just acouple hits from the others.

I hope FF11 won't die quick. They probably wont pull the plug for awhile, if at all. Too many people play to just stop having it avaible..

Well they will continue to develop expansions and such I'm pretty sure... when content on an MMO runs out, you need to provide more or it becomes dull. Who knows? Maybe we'll see a new craft skill... maybe we'll see a level cap raise, new spells, new avatars, new stuff, but things will have to continue to progress or the game will die out. Look how long Everquest went on for... all the expansions they released... I never got into EQ but I know it had a long following and lifespan, and people STILL play it.

New people will come in and old people will leave, so the HNM scene will always be changing over time. New rivals will be made and new competition will appear, the market will go up and go down and those who still exist once they've hit the top will compensate for the competition one way or another. There's more to this game than fighting gods every night and camping HNM round the clock. I think a lot of the newer high levels think thats all there is... since thats all I see people diong these days. But in reality they haven't even scratched the surface of this game. Hell, I haven't either, but I have goals and am working on them in order of importance =P, i just hate leading people and don't think I could be the one to start these things. CoP missions, NMs taht dont give anything worthwhile but a title, rare/ex items, I still got a lot left to do in this game before I've "completed" it, like Vang says. There's just way too much to do.

Oh god...everquest and the neverending expansion packs. I played until they introduced the Frogloks, and as far as I know, I missed some expansions after quitting. More Expansions than The Sims. I can totally see FFXI having an Expansion a year or so, like EQ. And, like the sucker I am, I'll buy them.

(edited for spelling)
(edited again so I wouldn't add another post)

SquareEnix DOES have another MMO coming out. Called Fantasy something or other, but not Final Fantasy. It actually looks pretty damn good, but, unfortunatly, I can't find the link where I saw information on it.

There is a rumor that FF XI was just a prototype for somethign far grander SE had planed... I have no idea.

Take Ultima Online though they jsut got a new Samurai expansion pack after how many years? My guess is eventualy they will start consolidating servers. I will wager in another year or so things will definetly be changing. I think they will be doing even more high lvl things such as dynamisis. They might raise the lvl cap, I doubt it, people crunched some numbers and found that a party of lvl 80-85s can do what an alaince of 75s can.

Many people have left which saddens me, I have lost quite a few good friends, they hae never walked the halls of the Gods, they never explored the depths of Movalopolos, wandered the halls of Tzarvania or any of the plot based things that make FF so much better then the other MMoRPGs out there.

I really want to be able to go into other people's Mog Houses! I think that would be a lot of fun.

Aye Neche I agree about playing the oldschool FFs, they realy change ya and lead to better players. If for no other reason then a respect and love for the series and your roll in it.

I'm a sucker for FF games. I would just wish this game would have some elements from the other games. The colliseum being at the top of my list. I mean, that would make everything so fun and you can watch these battles. It would keep everything interesting. I mean, I want to see the Ballista battles but I don't really want to be in them..lol.

If this does turn into a situation where SE is just using this as a prototype for something else, then that'd suck... all this time invested just so they can develop something better? Well, I'd hope its something spectacular..lol. Dang, I think I gave this game two months of my life.. playtime... 66 days..

At some point, I feel they well have to raise the level cap again, or add new jobs. I don’t see them shutting down the servers any time soon. We PS2ers have not had the game that long.

Not shutdown servers, consolidate, you remember how they had that server migration awhile back? Kinda like that, if a serers numbers dip below a certain point they will consolidate several similar servers into one.

More people quitting. SE getting more nervous and try too fix something that is complained about which they think will solve the problem. More people getting pissed and quit. New people come into the game. Some point servers become less populated and SE has too close some while moving people into other populated servers. Also somewhere down the line they try too introduce another expansion pack. Some of the people that quit, come back and talk how they love they fixed this or that. Then those people quit again. Another Mmorg is introduced and people leave for that. That cycle keeps going and going till fewer people are left. Then SE announces they are pulling the plug and either talk of coming out with a FF XV online coming out if FFXI lasts for several years or if it lasts fewer then they just shut FFXI down.

If things keep going with the AH price gauageing and SE does not figure out a solution soon then I see a great number of people leaving. I am not trying too bash SE but thats my prediction.

I do not know of one sucessful big name MMoRPG they outright closed down, the things are pure gold realy.

This is really my first MMorpg so I dunno what they do when they loose too many people. Just bored and felt like playing the prediction game.

That stupid sigil....
I must've spent atleast 10 hours trying to get it...
No one ever mentioned you weren't allowed to zone during those 200 dodges...
I learned that the hard way

As for the lightning bolts... I disliked that game so I gave up at 30, as for games lasting, Ultimaonline is still going strong... That is 10 years oldish.

hmmm...i'd definitely be pissed if SE was using FFXI as a prototype for another grander game. I've spent 56 days in game so far, and been playing for a little over a year (just blew past the 1 yr. mark Jan. 8th XD)

HOwever, if SE came out with a better MMO as a result of this, and perhaps offered those with a subscription to FFXI a free switch over to the new one, things could be great (doubt this will ever happen -.-;) i mean, we helped test their software, proved it to be successful, why shouldn't we at least get a free copy? At any rate, i do think the game will be around a lot longer. Too many people still playing, too many people still love the game. I think maybe a new character class would rock though. Or i had this really cool idea once.....about combonation abilities....that is, Certain job/subjob combos would give you abilities only available with that job/sub, thus adding a bit more complexity to it all ^_^. Or maybe race specific traits (ala DnD) that give the player certain advantages based on race (other than current ones) ie: Elvaan run faster due to long legs, Mithra can jump? stuff like that.

Maybe a new race would spice things up a bit, i know i'd like to see a new race or so introduced ^_^.

As far as the AH, i think it's as simple as taking the gil outta the market. If you completely abolished the AH and just made all the items sold there attainable through NPC's at a set price, no price gouging. Problem solved, the gil goes out of the economy, no inflation. However, wouldn't provide much in the way of MAKING gil >.> lol.

ugh...i'm rambling now....5am...must sleep...*flop*
