price jacking

yeah damn that free market

Machao>> want sum pants?

The solution is easy. Don't buy them. Wait till he gives up on his price-jacking game.

Whats even more retarded is the price jacking on Light Ores. Who are the idiots that are actually buying them at 1m+??

That is a rhetorical question btw

Ahhh the same person who thinks he can get 18mil for Cursed Kabuto+1 when he's been told he'd be lucky to get 10mil. No one buy any of his haidate and see how he does then.

At that jacked price, if he didn't HQ the lumber he is still losing money.

I've done that before with Wyvern Skins, but it didn't work.

Even if you reset the whole price history with your desired price, other people still have their stuff up for sale at the previous price. You'll get underbid and things will be back to normal.

Example:

Say I reset Wyvern Skins so that the price history only has me selling them to myself for 100 gil. "All right! Now I'll have no trouble leveling leathercraft!"

Meanwhile, another person attempts to buy at 100 gil...doesn't work. He keeps going up until he finds the actual price, 3k. He buys it for 3k and the price is back to normal.

not suprised rmt do this all the time one rmt sells it to another rmt and put the same item back on ah only with different names

lather rinse and repeat D:

looks like legit caught on I guess

lol my old buddy Siferx did this when he was like lvl 10 he was farming back plates and someone was undercutting at half the price so he bought all of 'em off the AH then he put 'em all back on for the normal amount and it worked lol he restored the price of backplates in Bastok. That was hilarious way way back when.

At least try to hide it by selling to different mules or something.

Supply and Demand =D

(and monopoly ...)

I am so the car...

Well, actually, I'm fairly sure that those kinds of tactics are illegal in our own economy, which is one of the most free on the planet. Not buying a simple commodity and selling it for a higher price, of course, but aggressively "cornering" the market on something in every possible venue. We only really have one market ... the Auction House ... and this fellow's actions are much more akin to gorging yourself on stock holdings (to intentionally bloat the value), than they are like buying out a single supplier to sell at a markup.

At the very least, I think that gobbling up every possible source of a product should be discouraged as unethical in any formal business training you could receive. There's healthy competition, and then there's ruthless elimination of competition.

if he cant handle the loss on the synths then he should maybe think about stopping crafting them.

no need to try and fuck people over like this.

I don't think people are understanding what he's doing.

He's not buying all the items in stock and selling them for higher prices...he's selling an item to himself over and over in order to fill the price history with what he wants the price to be.

Whether that's illegal or not, it doesn't really work.

No, we've got it.

It can work, but you've got to have a lot more committment than I'll bet he has, along with the willingness to use more than one character ... which he's not doing. It'll also just eventually backfire ... there's only so much manipulation a market can take.

It's just that it's more than trying to "trick" people. He's literally trying to CHANGE the price.

The closest real-world analogy is someone slowly increasing stock prices by force (buying things up by proxy) ... whether to increase the value of holdings they already have, or to re-sell at an even higher price.

This guy's not going to keep those forever; he eventually wants to dump them, along with the ones he makes for himself.

For it to be improper, there would have to be collusion. Nothing can stop myself or any other high-level woodworker from undercutting the new AH history price.
