Price of Scorpion Harnass going up?! o.O

Its inflation, every day thier are more fishing bots and more people buy gil online. It happens SE does not give a shit. This is the result, prices of NM things go up, prices of general crafting materials go down. Look for ANY NM drop that has DECREASED in the last month or so and damn... you get a cookie for sure. Some things have increased more then others, Leapin Lizard boots come to mind, I believe they are 300k and Emperor Hairpin is at 400.
/sarcasm But everyone makes gil of fishing bots so whats the problem everyone just has more gil now /endsarcasm. Yea so if you are trying to make money legitly you are shafted. Word on the street is NMs are camped to shit these day by the Chinese, and the Mexicans are working in Gusgen mines driving out competition (Tusk and friends are Spanish speaking so I say Mexico, but hey I could be wrong). Of course the items from HNMs is going to skyrocket.

Martial Slacks...were 30kish, now they are like 20k...

As much as we don't like either of those, sadly (or luckily) neither causes inflation. Inflation occurs whenever gil is created, be it killing a goblin and he drops gil, selling items to an npc vendor, completing rank missions and getting a hefty reward (eg:6 people finishing rank 10 get 100k each). Those all put more gil into the economy causing inflation. My other two examples also could result in inflation, such as the armor bug from CoP where people could buy it from an npc and sell it back to an npc for a profit. In my other example having a great number of poorer players migrate would causing inflation in that their is more money circulating among fewer people than before (average gil per person went up). FFXI comes with many money sinks to counter this inflation such as chocobos, spells + armor from npcs, and definitly dynamsis (1mill a pop out of the economy). When you get more money coming in than the money sinks take out, we get inflation as we are seeing. No where in there does botting or selling gil come into play since neither of those are creating gil (unless you are selling your botted fish to an npc like people did with those padded caps before the patch).

Honestly I have no idea on martial slacks, those are not crafted tey are dropped from a reletevely low lvl NM, the demand for those is not that great compared to LL boots or emperor Hairpin. Take a look at thier price history. People go out to buy gil for said items, the people selling know this and raise the prices. The gil buyer will pay it cause he now has a crapload of gil that he has lost connection, psychologicly with. But hey that is my wramblings.

Prices are rising fast on all "Excelent Items" A less then excelent NM drop is not going to atract alot of intriest.

But ok I will play along I am at the point of not caring anymore. The economy is great and fine, nothing is wrong SE is amazing the GMs are your best friends the JPN are doing thier best to help out NA players and make them feel welcome. It is posibale to make progress in the gmae without needing someone higher to come and do it for you.

All this of course hinges on one thing, and that is that you do not log on and open your eyes.

HNM LSs are not real LSs they are there for profit. No one in an HNM LS is gonna give anyone a non-ex drop. It goes up to AH and the cash is split up for all those invlovled.

A lot of good HNMLS actually let each other have the items. When you have the friends and respect its very nice :p

I miss my scorpion harness... it felt so good putting it on the first time...

[quote="Rones"(unless you are selling your botted fish to an npc like people did with those padded caps before the patch).[/quote]

Nearly every money fish is an NPC fish, as are almost all skillup fish. The only ones that sell even remotely well on the AH are:

Moat Carp
Shall Shell
Bluetail
Nebs
Occasionally Yellow Globes and Gigant Squids.

Bastore Breams, for example, are what every Port Windy fisher is going for - and they basically serve no purpose except to be sold to the guild for 1300 apiece. Same with Black Soles, Gold Carp, just about every ferry fish... all of them are there basically to turn around and sell to an NPC.

Serklet is a money maker HNMLS that can be done in less than 6 people with the right combination. Having a complete loser fucktard such as Ailove who even uses mpk to steal the mob clearly shows its for profit. NAfireblade might be different but most HNMLS in this server are not kind enough to do so.

The claw can be dropped from Amikiri in Gustav, Serklet, Genbu and I believe one more which the name escapes me. Yes some items are getting more and more expensive. Reason is easy, people pay the gil which is setted by the crafter or farmer. If you stop buying then the prices will go down due to overflow of materials / products. Here is where the gil buy / sell kicks in. When people buy 4million and buy the harness, or claw then the crafter or the claw seller will up the price. Hence now its 5 million.

Some other items that gone up: Emp hairpin, Ochiudo kote, Pallas bracers, Sniper rings/Archer rings, Kraken club etc etc. As long as people buy it for the given price, it will never go down but up.

It's a question of the value of gil to the seller.
If it comes easily to you, e.g. you buy it with real life money, it has less value to you and you're willing to pay more. Hence people who don't buy gil become increasiningly forced to camp NM. Then camping the NM becomes really competitive and not fun, and you have to question yourself to why you are even playing the game, trying to beat out 10 people to killing Valkurm Emperor or whatever as that becomes the only time efficient way to make gil.
I used to make money by farming cockatrice meat and selling chiefkabobs. That is until the price of chiefkabobs went down to like 7k a stack, and with the risk of non HQ and getting crappy 3k(or less) stacks of mithkabobs I just sold the damn meat, even /w high level cooking it became useless. Now stacks of the meat are even lowering.
Hence> money is becoming harder to make in legitamate ways. Because shit people aren't gonna buy gil for(that stack of mithkabobs) goes down, because so many people at once attempt to use it as a source of income, while profit from camping NM goes way up >if you can get the NM<. And that leads me to the question of... should I have to stand around 3 hours a day for some 24 hour pop competing against some doughbags for an NM they'd kill me to steal to get all the expensive things I want? Or maybe I should just kill cockatrice at 2 stacks an hour for about 300 hours(400 now that the price is up to 5 mill). And I look at all the people who level ninja nonstop(it make me broke getting to lvl 41) and then pick up a scorp harness and just keep leveling.

Well put Shia, see SneakyPants that's what I was saying, that while NAFB may be speacial, the majority of HNMLSs are for profit. And Shia's right about the AH too, as long as you'll pay 4mil+ it'll sell for 4mil+

Work on crafting and questing the items...

If you can create the scorpion harness, I'm sure the going rate rising isn't a bad thing for you.

Oh yeah it is... The claw costs more than you can sell a normal harness for... Only way to make money is to HQ it or to inflate the price. :shock

Riiiight, so go camp the bastard and get the claw. Yes it's not easy. But choose your path. Don't complain about both paths. Buy or craft...Or leave.

Eh, guess you missed my point.
From a crafter's point of view, I want the harness to cost more. :D

I want it to cost at least as much as the materials, but then again lots of things aren't this way.

Um no...
I said this earlier in the thread:

Perhaps you missed it.

Yes I get it. That's why I specified, being a part of NAFB, that I view the world through that set of eyes. I also understand how other LS may not act the same.

If the prices go up or down, it is what it is to the crafters, farmers, consumers, etc...

SE needs to implement some sort of "fix" otherwise this simulated economy will continue to function in it's own ways.
People blame the gil sellers, and that's easy to do. But another reason the hairpin (or any other item that skyrocketed) has gone from 300k-450k is that people are paying it. Getting people not to pay that, and drives the price up, is not an easy task though...Everyone is involved in the same catch 22. They don't want to buy it for that price, but if they don't, it would seem that they wouldn't ever own that item, and they risk it going up further in price.

Money is the source of stress in the real world, and it is the source of stress in Vana'diel. In this regard, I believe SE has done well.

But if you can't change it, and you contemplate leaving, it's merely a matter of weighing the good and the bad and making the decision.
I can respect that.

just a quick note (i think i've posted maybe once here before >.<):
last time i checked the ingredients for the scorpion harness actually cost more than the harness itself. that may have changed since the price has gone up though. it's funny that before the last update the price had dropped to 3.5M, and then skyrocketed shortly afterward. and people thought the rusty nerf was a good thing. =P

Gotta strike while the iron's hot, no matter what your fancy.

From what I understand the materials are sold directly to the high end crafters, the AH is for the most part cut out. I know this is the case with beads used in elemental staves. The beads do not sell on the AH, jeuno or otherwise.

The only fix I see so far, is to make an item superior to Scorpion Harness, at a lower material cost or what ever. I know for the fact that this can happen. Lets put the EQ terms. There was a super good weapon which is dropped from "Named" or NM in FFXI which was sold for 200k. After 5 years (before my retirement), the weapon was 2k. Reason? New items, better items implemtented in game. New crafting recepies, and such. FFXI is still 2years old. Compared to some other MMORPG it is still young in age.

Although Unlike other MMORPG, FFXI is was based and built for PS2 so not sure if new improvement happens often...

I know that a lot of you are blamming the gil sellers for the price going up, but they are keeping the price down. Archer's ring is going for around 500k sttill, and Sniper's ring is up to 620k. The crafters are making the gil now. It seems though that a lot of items are going up in price too. Like they think we have all this gil laying around that we own. Eyutos bow 7 Million!!! Gill sellers arn't doing that. It's insane! Anyways that my opion.
