This thread isn't about Diabllos. It's about the action of being rough to someone asking for parties, so it really should be independent of the person itself.

If you want the thread to be about Diabllos, say so. Otherwise keep it in the vein of if it's ok or not *ever* to act like this, by any person.

True, they cant read minds. If only there was some sort of way to indicate weather or not you wanted to party, you know? some way of, perhaps, seeing everyone that wants to party at once. That would be so convenient.

You are inviting people without a flag up. As a party leader, I get it, and they could go /anon, filter tells, not be prissy, etc.

Then again you went there and you get what you get quite honestly.

Making a topic on the FB about something as trivial as this is hardly necessary, especially if you already have the only answer you are interested in hearing anyway.

I have to agree with Sneaky and Morcheeba here.

At the very least, an answer was given. I personally find/found it more irritating to ask someone I could see moving with their flag up and not get an answer at all.

if you think its wrong to ask people to xp, then thats cool. i dont. some people like myself, dont feel the need to sit around waiting and waiting and waiting for a specific job to LFP. so i ask people to xp. that's my reason usualy. some people either dont have the time or the patience to wait 2hrs for a ninja etc. and to me personally theres nothing wrong with asking poeple that arent seeking. and honestly i dont care if it causes anyone grief or upsets them or annoys them because i dont beleive thats a worthy thing to get all upset about^^.. i mean if they say no im not gonna keep hounding them like im sure most people dont.

As far as this subject is concerned though. It is irritating to have to change your job or go anon just because you are standing in town... the problem is that even with taking both of these steps i still get merit party invites where i am asked to change to bard.

The problem is the only way to get people to actually leave you alone is to be an asshole...

You ignore them and they keep sending tells... You respond nicely and they ask you again 30 minutes later or send you a mean tell when they see you doing something else. I had a guy bitch me out a few days ago because he asked me if i wanted to merit and i responded nope then i decided to do xp on a lower level job and he thought it was disrespectful of me to be on bard and then switch jobs and xp on it when i told him i didn't feel like meriting.

I have to say as a drg I get really tired of the constant invites for Pts when I'm in the middle of stuff, I really don't need any more merits bug me when I finish some more jobs if I can ever motivate myself to...

I really hate the rmt tells too, used to be something that I could say made us better than WoW but now you get them constantly in both...

I don't really mind when friends ask me for PTs though as I do enjoy merits and they usually nice about it but random people I don't know can tick me off.

To look at it logically most would understand that anyone could get annoyed from being asked anything really. Regardless of what they're doing. Their character may very well be non-active in a city but you don't know what that person is doing. They could have been right in the middle of some heated e-lationship argument and you interrupted them.

Whether or not you find the response rude it's subjective, it's up to the individual on how the response is received. A lot of people would just shrug it off and not think much of it; people have said that here already.

I personally have never lvld bard nor had an interest to but this is not about the job though it may contribute to the sheer annoyance level. This is really about whether you find an answer delivered in specific context rude, and it's simple, you are in control of your own emotions much like the person who snapped the response, if it bugs you perhaps you need time to put things in perspective.

Someone who asks you to change jobs to go merit (that isn't a friend or a linkshell mate) is kind of a different situation IMO.

I don't think that is the case for the majority of players. With most, a "No thanks." or something similar will work just fine. There are people who don't want to take no for an answer, and that is also a different story.

If you really wanted to be left alone, being an asshole right off the bat probably isn't the way to go. I mean, most people tend to be an asshole right back when you're an asshole first, even the ones who would have initially responded "kthx ^^" when you declined. But you wind up with a bunch of rude tells going back and forth generally when someone decides to respond that negatively.

This really happens to you non-stop? Maybe you're right, its because I don't have BRD. But I do know quite a few BRDs, and while they're hassled when they're not in a party (whether they're in a city or not), none of them say that they're harassed like that, at least not regularly. People like the guy in your example make my blacklist. I don't care to argue with idiots who can't take no for an answer...

I don't have BRD, I do think it was a little rude, but I don't really think it was flame-worthy, either. Of course, I don't think that 95% of the flames here are flame-worthy, so...

Politely stating that while you understand their dilemma, but it's really not your problem, is more than sufficient in that case. At least that's what I'd have done lol.
