Princess Bards

When i was leveling WHM i considered myself to be seeking if i wasn't /anon. Some jobs get the /t's to party just because ppl see you are that job atm.

This is all over a reply from a Bard. And it's on page 7? I don't think this has anything to do with Bards, it has to do with the response you got so the title is very misleading.

Its really simple... flag up... i would like a party!!!
flag down... i probably don't want a party, if you would like to ask go for it but realize i may not be happy about it.

I sent you a /t last week to merit with me Dej, you were on brd and I wanted you on a dd job. I got no reply so I left it at that. And you were NOT seeking.

I do send /t's out to people not seeking. I even ask peeps to pty on a job that they don't have equip'd while not flagged for pty.

I think I receive few /t for invites while not seeking for pty on any of my jobs. I have not leveled brd past lvl 37.

My 75 brd mule is never /anon and from the /t's I catch, I usually don't get invites on him.

I am never on /anon on my jobs.

I get invited to merit when im in a party, not on COR, /anon, and even in dynamis when im in a party. I dont get mad when im not busy, but when im in dynamis, and you can clearly see im in dynamis, thats when I get mad.

If you can take less then a 1/4 a second to see where someone is and use common sense to determine they arent busy, then I have no reason to party with you.

Generally, I go by these rules of thumb for asking others.

1. If they are in whitegate, its fair game, most of the time people just afk or hang out there.

2. If they are in Jeuno I tend to hesitate, as the only reason of being in jeuno are Dynamis, Limbus, and a few small other things.

3. If they are out in the field, I usually leave them alone, as typically most people are doing something.

4. If they are in a starter town/the past/ or beseiged, I generally will ask them to party.

The seek function was put in the game for a reason.

If you want to ask someone non-seeking, it's perfectly okay for them to give you a rude response as you provoked said rude response by asking someone who wasn't seeking if they'd like to do something they're not looking to do.

That's not a Princess Bard.

That's someone pissed off that an ignorant ass motherfucker can't or won't acknowledge that the Bard is NOT SEEKING.

If they are flagged for a LSevent, it should be /seacomed. ;O

A Princess Bard is someone telling you they don't want to be in the party they joined because you're TPing in a Potent Belt instead of a Swift/Speed/Velocious, or that you're not doing top-tier Mamools instead of settling for Birds once in a blue moon.

It's not the kindest thing to do, but that's the chance you're taking when you're being a beggar.

How many of you people bellyaching about Bards giving you crap wouldn't do the same to a homeless man who walks up to your window while driving asking you for some food, or a couple bucks to get some food or a pack of smokes?

Most will either ignore the poor guy, others will smile and nod and a smaller group will tell his happy ass to get a job. Very few will actually either cough up the cash or buy the unfortunate soul some food.

Same when you beg a non-seeking Bard to party. Either he'll rudely ignore you, be nice and say no thanks, rudely tell you to piss off/level the job yourself, or maybe take the party...

Seriously, you're fuckin' asking for one of those four responses. The nerve you have to bellyache about a situation where you have a 1/2 chance of being treated rudely is astounding. You know at least half the time you're going to get a poor response, the fuck sense is there to bitch and moan about it?

OP: QQ

Speaking of which, my Bard's 73, anyone wanna PT this weekend?

/t in-game. <3 Kiss kiss.

Sometimes when I was doing campaign as Rdm I'd get blind invites not seeking, one I got was "Look we're 5/6 and you're the only free Rdm out there, if you dont come out thats five people you'll be screwing for exp.."

I could have responded with a fair arguement about how my time is my own to do with as I see fit but after a tell like that I had barely enough willpower to simply say "No Thanks" and go /anon lol.
His own damn fault for gathering five people without looking for any RDMs out there. I generally make it a personal rule to find at least all the "necessities" I need for a party/mission/battle before I just gather random DDs.

bout the same amount of sense there is for being a jackass when asked a simple question.

If you level a job that is in extreamly high demand for exp/merit parties common sense should tell you that you're gonna get a lot of tells if you're seen on it. if you think ahead, an alien concept to children these days, & use your seacom or just stay /anon you will save yourself a mountain of headaches. when you level a job you are forced to accept all the pros & cons that come with it. if you cant deal with those i advise one not to level said job.

its not that hard.

For the most part I agree with you Lec, just want to address the bolded part xD.

Even if they don't have a /seacom, look at where they are first. If I'm on RDM, in Sea, don't invite me. If you see a BRD, in Haz. Testing Grounds, don't invite them. If you see a NIN at level 40, in Horalis Peak, don't ask them to level sync to 37. And if you just see someone in a party at all, don't ask them to party. Not that hard.

Common sense works both ways. I'm not one to explode on people, but my blacklist is made up solely of people (+2 :3)who are too fucking stupid to understand that just because I'm not in a party doesn't mean I'm not busy at the moment in Dynamis-Beaucedine(not that it matters, since... you know).
Also, why should we be the ones who all the responsibility falls on? I try to keep my job shown so that if LS mates need help with anything, they can see if I'm on one of my 75 jobs or a lower job that I'm preparing.
So yeah.

This has boiled down to the proper usage of gaming functions.. /le sigh

Again the complaint was not really flame worthy, but not the first craptastic flame either.

Thing is there will be those who agree to use the functions this way and there will be those that agree to use them that way. There is no manual for ingame functions and options, use it however you see fit. Efficient use is always best naturally.

That being said, back and forth forth and back... are we done yet? lol

everything alobont said was right...

leuc thi is a very angry post...>.> lol...

all that anger seems a little un neccassary and easily avoided by just saying <no thanks> and moving on with your life lol.....

its not right to be rue to someone who doesnt deserve it^^

you kept saying 'beggar' aso. since when is asking someone to party begging?

here's my exampe of begging:

to a non seeking bard

" dude can u pz come xp.. pz dude we rly need a brd.. come on man plz.!? ots of xp <you can have this>" if you get that over and over... i unrstand getting annoyed... if you get this

" <party> <do you need it>" and you get annoyed and very angry... you have serious problems. thats my honest opinion.

I find myself responding back the same way the bard did when I am on WHM or PLD and not seeking.

HOWEVER.

I do not do this out of spite. It is usually because I am not in the mood, tired, or just pissed off IRL.

My thoughts? I don't think it was wrong for either party. I find myself asking BRDs or RDMs that are not seeking for a meripo; if they say no I look for someone else. I don't get melodramatic about it and I look for another. No avail I cancel the party and apologize to my members.

But yeah, does get annoying on the other side of the fence too. I remember getting a /tell asking to party when I'm at Ru'Aun Gardens for a level sync party at lvl50 on my WHM..

i advise one not to level said job.

its not that hard.

This is the same bullshit copout used by most people who level the shitty jobs and expect those of us who level in-demand jobs not to get miffed when we're squeezed too hard or often. :/

This thread needs more cowbell.

It needs more Steve and substance.

Anyway, to elaborate about the above.

I've been told time and time again "if you don't like it, you shouldn't have leveled it".

Sick of that.

80% or more of the time, it comes from people who have easier/less stressful jobs to play and aren't WHM, BLM, RDM, BRD, COR, SCHs.

That BS comes from people who are usually WAR MNK THF PLD DRK RNG SAM NIN DRG SMN BLU PUP DNC and have fuckall for real work most of the time. :)

And well BSTs know what the shaft is like, so I leave them as they were intended to be for the most part... In a class of their own.

son did you not read my earlier response? i've leveled nin and rdm in the days when i had to beat invites off with a stick. do you know what i did to avoid such invites? I went /anon, used a seacom, or responded curtiously. I leveled both jobs knowing what would happen. My mentor prepared me quite well for those days. Thinking ahead will save you alot of trouble.

If you level bard you know you are gonna get hit up for invites alot. You cant stop it. Its a bylaw of leveling the job. If you're angry for whatever reason dont take it out on the random person that took a chance on a non-seeker. they arent the ones that pissed you off in the first place.

THANK YOU.

You know, I've never bit someone's head off for asking me to party on my bard when I'm not seeking, but frankly, it can get irritating, and you can catch someone on a bad day. Like when people can't be bothered to read a seacom that says "{Experience points}{No, thanks}" or you're in a party already (boy it's tricky to tell if you are or aren't on the /search function by the time you're 75 right?) and someone asks you to party. Or my favorite, when you're /anon and someone walks by and happens to see you in bard gear and they ask you anyway. Or when you do politely say no and then get 20 questions on how come you won't. I'm a pretty friendly person, but I have to say that at moments like that, what I'm thinking is "Are you really that stupid?"

Yes, you answer with "No, thanks." That's the "right" (polite, sweet, generally non-asshole) thing to do. But I have to tell you, after being bard for quite a long time now, I can absolutely understand how you'd get a snarky response on occasion.

Bottom line is, there is no "passive" seeking. There could be some dude who's sitting in his moghouse bored shitless, wondering what to do and if he really wants to merit and your tell happens to sway him yes. But generally, no big green "!" above someone's head means pretty clearly "In case it was a big mystery, no I'm not seeking."

This. I have a BLM, WHM, RDM and BRD. You think I was left alone!? But I say, big freaking deal, you were asked to a party, you get asked to party lots, if you hate it, go /anon or use /seacom. On the same token, asking one of these classes to party, if you get a snarky response, let it go, chances are they've been asked 10000000 times and are just getting annoyed.
