Well, this is just totally beyond me, I guess. Some told me he quits after dealing x damage, others say after you HEAL x damage. Either way, I've been told its as low as 1000, as high as 5000.

So f-!King wrong.
I enter this bullsh-!tted BCNM fight, stoneskin/blink with protect/shell on, just because I dunno what to expect (rested to full before going out). I yag drink and run in.

Maat instantly (SOMEHOW) breaks thru my Stoneskin in one hits for ~28. Afterwards resumes bashing me for ~110 per hit. It's not a big deal, I simply start to cast Cure III right before he swings, everything goes OK. He suddenly chucks a Howling Fist, I take 691, I'm at 20hp, so I 2h. OK, 2h is gone. He continues wailing on me, silences me, I echo drops, after a few more hit/heal tradeoffs MP runs low, I let hp drop below 1/3 and I use a vile elixer +1. He wails on me SOME MORE. I divine seal -> cure III (IV woulda been a waste).

He's beating on me again, getting hurt sorta bad, semi-low on mp/hp again after a while, pop my normal vile elixer. He silences me again, I re-echo drops, he does Howling Fist again, I cure IV, mp is running bad again, and, I guess it was stupid of me, but I really thought he'd quit LONG before this. I burn my last few mp doing a cure III on myself, and I'm out of mp. He proceeds to more or less kill me...

Now, I look at the log, and it's just short of not having crapped scrolled off. I took 8317 damage. 8 3 1 7.

All I can say is....simply.....bull....sh-!t. ^^ I'm sure some scumbag gilbuyer MPKing pieces of sh-!t just dance right thru this, without having to pop a single potion, and I just spent, LITERALLY, 160K AND STILL LOST TO THIS OLD F-!KING DECREPIT BAG OF HORSESH-!T THE GAME CALLS MAAT.

Needless to say, the game can soooooo f-!k itself right now.

He stopped at ~5,500 with me. Its random how much you need though each time. You just got the worst of the worst. :(

took kint a few tries, i finaly bought her some potions to help her out lol
oddly enough the time she did win she actually took the least dmg than her previous losses
like a lot less
her first run was like 4500~ i think
and after that she took more
and then on her last one is was like 4k or less

good luck to you though, sorry about the money loss though thats harsh

So sick of SE f-!king me whenever what I'm doing actually matters. -_-;
"Hey, she's the only one here that doesn't have millions of gil and she got Argus again! Lets make it not drop, yet the f-!k again!"
"Hey, the party that got Roc has Ishaela! Lets make only a Vile Elixer drop, despite the two 70+ THFs in their party!"
"Uh oh, she's escaping from that Utukku link! Better have them cast Sleep II + Bind and follow up with dual AM!"

F-!k you f-!k you f-!k you f-!k you... ><
And Heubergeon is f-!king 2.5mil now. I might as well just buy the damn Ingot while it's still 1.8mil, maybe someone can smith one for me -_-;
"Oh look, Ishaela's gonna take the alternate Haubergeon route! Better give the server dumbsh-!ts the impulse to bid 3.1mil on it out of desparation!"
...

Maat tip of advice:

Level smn to 66.

Genkai 5 done.

Only if they are a thf with a hella lot of luck ~.^

You can't bribe Maat.

No you don't, just once.

On a side note: to defeat WHM Maat, use an earth staff and steamed crab. It'll help a ton to make staying alive easier. Curing the set points is the easy part, surviving to do it is hard.

For a taru maybe. My biggest problem was getting the most hp cured out that I could and looks to be Mish's problem too. His two asuran's fists did ~400 dmg to me out of 900hp max (more as I unequiped +mp gear). The lvl 70 jse earring for -30% dmg latent effect doesn't hurt either if you are willing to wait till 70.

I'm sorry that you had such a bad time with Maat. I lost on my first try and I know other people who have too. During my first try, when I lost, I cured about 3800 hp, when I won, it was about 4500. The number is really random, but I'd never heard of 8300+ hp needed for beating Maat.

I think BLM, WAR, SMN, RNG, NIN, and maybe SAM can do Maat at 66, but I may be wrong on some of those. Maybe THF too if they get super lucky.

From what I understood, all you need to do to beat maat as a WHM is last 5 minutes after you pull him.

My tactic was use an earth staff and run like hell.

made it with only using 1 vile elixer.

The fact that he runs faster then you doesn't help, but he does stop to cast spells which can help you avoid a few hits. Plus if your lucky you can get outta range of his WS.

Worked for me, not sure how much damage I took however.

did u cast flash?

i dunno if u should but i didnt see you say you did

helps a ton with getting big cures off

Did flash then divine seal-> Cure III, actually.

And the getting cures off was no problem as all, the problem was me burning through all 730mp, plus whatever a yag drink, a vile and vile +1 would give, as well as 2h and a divine seal'd cure, and STILL didn't have the mp remaining to survive another hit.

I think I'm not gonna try this til I get the f-!king opo crown. Too bad getting a Wyvern party's become a bigger chore than getting a Fenrir party.

svina means that smn maat is easy... I have to disagree with that but it's easier then the rest if you don't do any stupid mistakes. You'll just need a few ethers for astral flowness

My friend used earthstaff, steamed crab, bat earings and blinding potions.
Getting her down to taking about 50-70 dmg/hit in a decent rate.
Also helps to go in naked with a acrappy sub and re-equip and rest up once inside, cuz i hear maat gets the stats you have when you talk to him.

Bard was stupid easy to beat. I forgot to eat food, switch from my opo necklace after building TP, and I swear I only hit the bastard 5 times in my 8 minute fight. Soul Voice + Requiem tears him apart.

Ranger Maat is easy as hell too. With a blink band, his EES and first 2 ranged shots hit shadows, and his 3rd shot hit me for damage just before he died.
