My brother was updating, and everything was going well. Then on the last file the download just stopped. We waited a while then he X'd out of POL. Now when he tries to log in the game tells him to reinstall FFXI. First off wtf? second, does he really have to reinstall or is there something else he can do.

Read on theorderls.com forum to just let it sit like that for a while and it will just be done in a few minutes.

it happened to me, I just waited *shrugs* patience is a nice virtue :P

Well, if you've already closed Playonline, I think you've got no choice. You may want to clear your schedule first, though...you're likely going to end up corrupting everything to Hell. Look at this thread to see what could happen.

I hope that problem doesn't occur, because he's gonna make me do it if he has to reinstall windows.

BEWARE: make sure to copy win.ini and win.cfg when uninstalling with the FFXI disc, you can also just use add/remove and skip around it. Kyp's pc took a dirt-nap for a week before we figured out that these files are changed with the installation/uninstallation FF decides to add a unique key [player name] = your name here, to these files during uninstallation, upon removal with disks it removes those files due to them being modified during installation.

As you can imagine Win.ini and win.cfg are quite important to windows.

we should sue SE for their game damaging our computer lol, sue them for 300bil gil lol

Actually, if someone has the money to do it, one could very easily sue them for destruction of their computer. Althought as long as it doesn't happen to me...I'm good. But unless it says on the SE downloading part something like "May cause harm or total chaos and destruction to your computer" then you could sue them easily.

After the maintenance that was held on Feb. 21, 2006, the client softwar was also updated. During the version update, the file skipping process may occur. This process wil take a while to complete. During this process the PlayOnline Viewer may appear like it has froze but the process is being conducted properly in the bacckground. So please wait until the version update is complete.

If the PlayOnline Viewer is shut down while the version update is being conducted, a mesage asking for the reinstallation of FINAL FANTASY XI will appear. In case you encounter this issue, please follow the instruction and reinstall FINAL FANTASY XI.

Haha, well...that just raped me.

im getting an error that looks like this
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz6qs.gif
and it keeps on reapearing, what do i do

@ Killer ( don't wanna copy that huge thing)

Sorry, this will be off topic, but I'm just wondering what bowser you're using? I'm using FireFox and it's great and all but it's not as fast loading with images as I'd like. It works wonders with .gifs and other animated images like Flash but man it takes a minute load up pages with lots of images on it.

it looks like your files are corrupted = reinstall

ok i will i guess, is there no other way to fix?

I've seen numerous people saying "I've waited and when I came back in 20 minutes it said 'Finished Update'". So if you have the chance, (I haven't experienced this first hand, so I don't know exactly what you're experiencing) try to update again if you can, and then if it gets to that 1% point and stops, go off and watch a 30 minutes TV show and come back, see if it's done.

If not...90% of the people have said they've had to uninstall Windows completely. If that's the case...eh, sorry.

when i go to run on the start menu and type regedit it says it not a valid application of win32, i guess im just very unlucky
