Alrighty, after doing a Promy run we came very close but due to an unfournate error, we failed. I would love to hear people's suggestions before I head into the fray again. Please no, X amount of smns and astral flow heaven. There are several of us in the static that have not lvl'd smn and do not wish too. Please thrown in what you think can and would work.

Sorry to hear about it. Runs can take a few tries before you figure out what works for your group.

Did these a bit ago and still have some fresh strategies in my memory, so here goes:

animas - farm so everyone has all three. set up an order for psycho and hystero so that it's always on the mob (and know that a given player can only use one anima every thirty seconds). Thus make a different order for psycho and hystero, or set them off a bit:

example (have party members make 25 second calls to alert the next member SPECIFICALLY):
PSYCHO: A > B > C > D > E > F
HYSTERO: D > E > F > B > C > A

A = whm
B = tank (ideally war/nin)
C, D = melee, extra tanks (2 x war/nin is good for bouncing hate and shadows)
E = blm or rng

Note that we usually had our whm go and throw the first psycho. That way they could concentrate on curing. Note that they get the last hysteroanima when they might be out of mp anyway.

We also had a terroanima cycle. We had a bst in party, and it was her job to determine if the party was doing poorly. If she felt like we were in trouble, she would start a terro cycle.

Terro should be mainly melee and tank jobs. Maybe have your tank start it if necessary. If you reuse at 25 second intervals (animas last 30 seconds), then you can easily regain over 2 minutes to rest mp, heal up, or setup hate again. MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP VOKING, as resting generates pretty good hate. Beast pets, nukes, and ra's will still hit a terro'd mob. Note that mobs seem to come out of terro cycle with a pretty substantial tp gain, and promy bosses seem to be able to use it in 100-tp segments; that is, they can spam moves.

(Note: for the ascent of each tower, we found a single party to be best, sneaking and fighting as little as possible. We got a thinker aggro once, and used a terroanima to get it off long enough to set up to take it properly; putting one person in charge of a terro-use for saves on the way up can be a major strategic strength).

Inventory:

Good gear is a plus, of course.

It's nice to have milks for HP regen if you're melee, and of course drinks for mages. If you're fighting the boss that steals status enhancements (holla, I think?), then make sure that the tank doesn't use them. If you're concerned about keeping hate, invest in a cache-nez or just have nobody use food or drinks. I would still recommend having everyone use food, though, and simply having the whm keep two barspells up constantly.

Hope this helps; if there are more specific questions, feel free to pm or reply here and I'll try to help more. If you give us your static's party setup, we can probably help more too.

Hmm, Valoran pretty much got all the major details down. I'm assuming the one you got stuck on was Holla, because our party tried that twice and failed. However we tried again just recently and our party setup was War/Nin, War/Thf, Whm/Blm, Blm/Smn, Blm/Whm, Blm/Whm. Here's a few things we did before and during the fight:

- Before the fight we all put up dummy spells and crappy foods, except for mages.

- Used Poison Potions.

- During the first half of the fight we used Psychoanimas on Wreaker

- Once he got Shadow Spread going is when we used Hysteroanima because we all know how much Wreaker loves using Trinary Tap also.

Fortunately for us he didn't get any special attacks off during our Hystero cycle except a Shadow Spread before I had to throw mine but by the time I threw mine his HP was about 1/20th left so all we needed was a nice nuke by one of the BLMs. :) I think my group holds the fastest time for it right now.

When I did my promy missions, 2 war/nin worked on every one. The other jobs were : rng, smn, whm and some other melee. Drink poison potion, trade vokes and 2hr if needed.

On a few enm runs ive seen war/nin using axes/swords, but I prefer heavy weapons (sturmwind/power slash). IMO the faster you kill it the better, so some jobs (and thier 2hr) just wont help much.

i did all promy as drk .. it was easy with great axe sturmwind + souleater do nice dmg

our pt set up was drk/war , sam/war whm/blm , pld/war rng/nin and blm/whm we did used alot of anima tho

oh use Poison Potions at 60%HP you going to need 3 or 4 of them

do a "fake buff" so he wont drain your hp when he use drain move

and the boss is ice Base so fire spell is way to go

It depends on the color of the boss' core.

ya but i did holla enm and mission few time for ls and the boss core was ice all the time :P

terro anima is very nice and underrated.. if you have the melee use this in a order then the mages can have some time to recover mp.

I'm the prom masta.. Me, my g/f, and Moch beat all 3 in same day with no losses thanks to my superior leadership abilities and the others great listening skills =P j/k.. I'm not that great of a leader..

/tell for questions and advise.. I'm currently on 5-3 so I can give you advise on anything up to that point.

I think the above pretty much covered all the basics. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, there is no "ideal" party or strategy, just pointers to help you establish yours. I did promies close to 30 times now, lost about 6 times. I did all kinds of setup, even won Mea with 5 people including 2 whms.

Few things I can add is position, in my opinion that is key. I always have the mages or rangers stand on the stairs around the arena, especially mages on the south stairs. Tank keeps the boss north, out of AeO. In Holla, this is especially important. Much easier when you only have 2-3 people to cure after a Curse+Holy water rather then 5-6.

Get a SC setup, people often forget about that and solo their WS.

Animas, I personally never established a Terro or Hystero cycle, just a plain anima cycle. I always start with tank, he uses all he has, then melee and IF needed, mages. I much prefer to keep those mages out of AoE at all time and don't have them bother with anima. One important thing is not to use your anima too early. In most cases you can easily take the boss down to 50-60% before you have to use one. Nothing worst then running out of anima when the boss is at 15% and spamming abilities.

Same with 2-hour, try and delay them as much as you can, to use them around that 15-20% mark. Take Dem, if everyone 2-hours and you run out of Anima and it still has 2% left, you are screwed, it's regen at that amount will be amazing and he will have 5 popped mobs before you know it. You need to end it with 2-hours.

Also, everyone needs to keep their cool. Sounds like a stupid things to say but people tend to panic with those. Just get in, stick with your gameplan and remain calm. Everytime I lost was because of panic (like me calling for 2-hours way too early... >.<).

Just my 2... 10 cents! :)

Have mages stand in a circle around the boss. If your tank(s) go down, you might still have a chance by just bouncing hate around the circle.

If I ever attempt a prom again i'm gonna have to take a prom veteren with me. I'm just so tired of having to have these things done and most ppl already have it done. Those who have it done dont want to do em again.....so sucks for me.

I might just wait for someone who knows what their doing to set up a pty cause despite my best efforts I just must not be that good at it. Everyone in the prom I went to gave it their all so the fault must just be in me. Who knows.....I just know that it will be a happy day when I finally have HOLLA and DEM done.

I heard that the Holla boss actually absorbs several debuffs (not sleep or curse, but including venom, silence, def down and blind). Haven't gotten around to testing this still, but it it would make it considerably easier if people could pop Vitriol and the thing absorbs the -50%(?) def. =P

Eh, the problem is that you might wind up dead before it uses Trinary Tap if you try that. :/

But fake buffs are definitely the way to go with Holla. Couple useless Bar spells for the boss don't matter, and it'll keep the tank from feeding him USEFUL things.

As for War/Nin tanks... Bleh. Personal experience with Promys both before and after the nerf was that it took 2 War/nins to do the job of one Paladin, and if you DO decide to kite the mob, they tended to just get in each others way.

Though admittedly the PLD has to not suck to do the job properly.

Animas are nice, particularly on Mea and Holla.

Wow Valoran sure had a lotta strts...

back in my day... in like November or October of 2004 when it was JUST realeased before the Promy's were "toned down" we didnt even farm animas...

just get 1 WHM, 1 PLD, 4 RNG... simple as that lol... PLD stacks up on hi potions... WHM puts fake buffs like Barwatera, Barfira, Barsleepra that way the boss wont absorb useful buffsl life protectra or shellra...

Hi there!

Somethin I'd like to hear is what your party setup is gonna be your next time through. I've been part of more successful(and admittedly . . . unsuccessful ><) Promy runs than I can count with setups from the suggested 2War/Nins, Rng/Nin, Whm/Blm, 2Smn/Whm to this setup at Mea - War/Nin, Drk/War, Bst/War, Bst/Whm, Rng/Nin (yeah, that's right - no healer) - which scraped through victorious by the veritable skin of its teeth :P

With the lineup, I could prolly offer some suggestions from past experience :)

In order to win any Promy, you need ME ^^ i am an enm whore and love to help with the proms so tepp dude just send me a /tell lol

I'm trying to figure out what yaw mean by fake buffs. Does that mean w/o any buffs they'll take your life?

Yea, as far as I know.....if you dont have buffs up....instead of buffs it will take HP. So you put up buffs that are completly useless like the bar spells.

Fake buffs are basically bar spells and whatnot that will do the Holla boss no good when he takes them. His special attack, Trinary Tap, I think it's called, will take three statuses from your status line. If you don't have at least that many buffs, it'll take what you have along with a good chunk of hp. Keep in mind, he can actually steal your poison, too.

We generally buff with Barstonra, Barsilencera, and let the poison count as our third, just popping a new pot if he should happen to take it.

On the subject of animas, if you're willing to invest the time it takes to farm up complete sets for each member, there's a strategy that can practically wipe out boss attacks for the entire fight. It goes kinda like this:

1) Set an order for Terroanima use.
2) Set a separate order for Psycho/Hysteroanima, that has people working in pairs. (For example, Person A throws a Psycho, while Person B throws an Hystero at the same time)
3) Cycle through the Terro list while everyone nails it with range attacks, pets, avatars, etc. Melee can also chase it during the Terro phase and get some licks in here and there.
4) Once those are used up, start in with the melee, having your anima teams start throwing their animas as soon as it reaches about 50%.

Having both Psycho and Hystero in effect at the same time minimizes its normal attacks, and totally eliminates its specials.

Hope this help! ^^

I just did research on these promyvians before we went. Our party ended up looking like.

Nin/war
War/nin
War/nin
smn/whm
rng/nin
rng/nin

I think...the war/nin may have been something else. However, we wiped only on one of the battles I believe. You have to be careful of 2hr-ing because if people are going to two hour, you'd want to 2hr together in the same battle. By the time you get to the next Bcnm, your 2 hr would have reset.

Very important: I'd recommend getting ALL the anima if possible. If every party member has the anima to start, the battles are crazy easy. Just organize an anima order (who uses their 3 first, and so on) and then you're good to go. When you're getting the BCNm, chances are you'll at least get one or two more items to make some more animas.

The only other suggestion would be bring many x-potions for the melees and some x-piotions and yag drinks for the mages.

It's best to overprepare rather than underprepare.

Going in a party of six through the zones is better as it's hard to control a whole alliance from getting aggro. We were lucky in our last one because some big alliance was running through and all of their members got aggro instead of us. Nothing like having cannon fodder in front of you.
