Pros and Cons of Dragoon and Ninja

Dragoon cons:

  • Kinda gets shafted gear wise if you don't have homam.
  • Penta Thrust can be very meh, and thats basically you best weapon skill.
  • Your two hour is "ok".

Why is the two hour ability a con for Dragoon, when it can be used to do a substantial chunk of damage without removing you from battles for atleat 5 minutes, and theres absolutely no mention of Ninjas as a con? Mijin Gakure's only serious use is to save you experience. Using it results in either using a reraise item to get back up, or wait for someone to raise you. Either way, you're still stuck with weakness afterwards.

If you make a Last Resort macro referencing Papa Roach I will have to kill you. Multiple times. This isn't a threat, it's a promise.

EDIT: Okay, but seriously, I've got nothing against the job. I'm just against people doing stuff like the above on the job perpetuating the stereotype. I like Dark Knights the know what 'stun' is and how use it. At least on the pro side, you get to swing one really big sword/scythe to slice stuff up with. And you get to kill yourself every 5 minutes when you have tp to weaponskill (Unless your name is Audino, and you're just awesome like that to no die).

Dude, real darks macro in stun with their /attack macro. Right Helius, Stun and Bio right?

Cons of DRG (or pros depending how you look at it). Alot of time to yourself with a flagup:

That argument might've held up pre-toau, or even pre-2h update.

I've seen videos of that thing.
Seems kinda OP, does it do that 2-8 hits often?

Sup sarcasm. I tease Dino about lfp on a weekly basis. As I've told him, you'll always be an loldrg to me.

I am extremely offended.

I mean.. I will be, but breakfast is more important right now.

Don't worry, Lady will console you.

:P
well since it was brought up, how good are DRK's?
yay, nay?

They're great if you use it properly, as is the case with most if not all jobs.

*cough*Helius*cough*

Edit: Oh snap Keylon beat me to it.

I could have said the same about the points you tried to make regarding my first post. But I keep the immature flamebait out of this section, try to do the same ok? Unless you enjoy the mindless drabble that gets deleted by the mods 1/2 a day later.

My points are valid, you don't like them? Don't read it. Not everyone can have an elitest attitude that bases their respect on people in game based on their job qualities rather than their overall game play. In my opinion DRG have good in game qualities that are respectable and have their uses in end game.

Flamebaiting? Perhaps you don't get the concept, but I was actually make a legitimate point which seems to went way over your head because well, you're an... oh, right that would be flamebaiting.

It went whoosh because no end game LS seeks DRG, they seek NIN. While it may not always be NIN, LS require certain jobs and they recruit players with X needed job who just happens to have DRG leveled. Very rarely do they get a DRG because they're can get half a dozen other jobs which can do the same thing only better or better yet, insert player with necessary job and generic DD leveled. Once they're in the LS, they'll mainly go one job or another that's required and needed, but very rarely DRG unless they either a) resort to drastic measures so they can only go DRG or b) bitch endlessly until someone pities them and relents. Or was that the "defining" point to DRG you were referring to?

I know its insane to say this.. but why don't you just do what someone else said and level both jobs? I've taken DRG to 75 and then after that I took NIN to 75. I didn't level NIN just so I could get into places easier though. I leveled it because it was fun. DRG was fun. WAR was fun. I have nothing else at 75 because MP jobs aren't fun for me and no other jobs have really given me the excitement like those 3 have.

Find out for yourself whats great about both jobs and what the setbacks are. It's usually the best way to learn. I also wouldn't focus on endgame benefits if you were just starting the job either. That's a distraction that isn't really necessary until way later on so its pretty hilarious to sit here and see everyone focusing on that aspect.

drk > all jobs

and dont argue with me unless you want another jump in oil price :P

How about lowering them for once, since I'm a Dark Knight and can barely afford gas myself?

I usually associate DRKs with lower intelligence players who only think of big numbers and have stupid macros. jk =)

DRKs are very good, especially with Absorb-TP, which helps make up for DRKs lower accuracy. Stun and various absorb spells add a lot of utility to the job as well. The job really begins to shine when you obtain your 4-hit weaponskill Guillotine. (i could be wrong though).

Go to Hell for your first remark. As for the second, every Dark Magic spell has its uses. Fighting a mage mob and need Guillotine to silence a little harder? Absorb-MND is your friend. If you are a Tarutaru, you'll use your spells to devastating effect. Nothing gets me happier ingame than seeing Drain (that's Drain I) give me as much HP as a Cure IV/V.

Absorb-TP, sup?

Random exceptions include Imps, Colibri, or Dark Elementals :D

Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but Dark Knights have the same accuracy as any other job. It's just an illusion caused bythe long delay of our weapons.

yay all way

Dark Knight Pro

* 3 attack bonus trait,
* Souleater covert 10% of your HP into Dmg *12% with souleater equip*
* able to cast spells
* Can equip homam , Ares and other heavy armor
* able Stun with 2 Abilities *spell stun and weapon bash*
* able to use most Sword , Axe , Gaxe , Gsword and scythe
* able to get TP with Absorb-TP

Dark Knight cons:

* Most of its Abilities lower its Def and Draw Hate *threat*
* Scythe is slow
* Your two hour is bad its only heal yourself ... if you didnt miss
* some equip is very costly or hard to get
* Hard to Solo with but its can be done
* sometime you get called emo-drk :P
* most of it Damage type is slash , no way to do Piercing damage

in short DRK is a heavy and slow Hitter , most of drk equip add ACC and ATK , some unskillful tanks well have hard time holding hate off you , in some case . you may get one shot after big WS damage

4 attack bonuses

Ravic, IIRC Dragoon for example gets 2 accuracy bonuses. But then some will argue its irrelevant i guess but I assume the extra accuracy should help.

What he's saying is that Dark Knight has no less accuracy than a similarly-geared Warrior, but more that we feel it more when a swing misses because of our ungodly long delay on Scythe.

A more accurate statement, I suspect, would be that Dragoon has a higher natural accuracy than others.

hmm doesn't really sound like my deal =x
maybe I'll just stick with DRG first when I unlock it and go from there :)

I see classes like bards and dancers, how do you go about playing those?
seems like it'd be kinda...lame.. to sing or dance an enemy to death =x

Dancer is a fun support job that is also very easy to solo with. I don't know how well they do at higher levels though as mine is only 31. They're a decent melee sub for some soloing activities (or so I've heard).

Bard is probably the single fastest job to 75. You'd rarely have to lfg for long and you'd have an easier time into an endgame shell than most other jobs as it is one of the most useful jobs to have in a group in almost every situation. Merit parties are easy to get on bard as well. They enhance the other players abilities around them, enfeeble mobs, and can ballad mages so they regain mp. However, it's not a melee job (which you seem to enjoy) and if you level it never plan on bringing any other job to an endgame activity...or anything else if the people around you know that you have bard leveled. That may be a slight exaggeration but not much of one lol. :ph34r:

Since you seem to enjoy melee jobs, I think that leveling monk to 18, unlocking your subjob, then leveling war/mnk to 37 would probably make sense. Whether you decide on nin, drg, or any other melee job you will need war at 37 regardless.

Btw, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anyone since I'm not exactly an expert in melee jobs. ;)

should be online within a half hour :)
feel free to add Gavin to your friends list shortly :)
