PS3 is hurting!

The only reason why PS3 would be considered to have a better library at this point in it's life span than the 360 did is because most of the games are cross-platform and are also available for the 360.

First off, no way is the PS3 going to "fail" because Sony is still a huge company that makes billions of dollars and can invest what it needs into it, including a price drop if it needs a huge market share increase.

Next off, I've merely be responding to your own line of examination. You said that a PS3 owned was barely used as a reason to why it's not getting a 60% fail rating like the Xbox. I said that it's used for tons of reasons. I didn't say any of those reasons were the main reason I bought a PS3. You interpreted it how you pleased, but it's not what I said. In term, I interpreted your rantings about achievements how I pleased, the same way you interpreted me.

Furthermore, what the fuck did Xbox 360 have March 19, 2006?

Yes and cross platform works on both angles. PS3 owner doesn't need a 360 to play them any more than a 360 owner needs to play a PS3. I also don't need a 360 to play Halo or Gears of War if I own a PC. It's only a question of patience, and considering the constant stream of PS2 games coming in, it's not as if my head is exploding if I don't get a new first person shooter every 2 weeks.

I believe they had oblivion by this point, I'm not sure about what else because at the time I wasn't following the game library of the console that well.

Oblivan for 360 was March 21, March 20 for PS3. PS3 is coming with an expansion free and the whole game is updated with better looking textures.

I mean, hell, 360 still had it out sooner, since it's not like the PS3 is competing with 360 from a year ago, but he said that the 360's library from its time from launch beats the PS3's library today, so I'm going to say that's heresy.

u act like they promote achievements as a main feature when they dont. achievements are AWESOME, and one hell of an innovative feature.
Why?
because games that otherwise wouldnt get play DO, games you would play once and never touch again have new life and replayability breathed into them.
For instance, Dead rising. I would have completed that game and never came back unless i was bored.
But with those acheivements, it has me trying to do things i otherwise wouldnt have cared to do, Like bowling over 10 zombies with a bowling ball, Killing 53 something thousand zombies, Escorting 8 female survivors at once to safety.
Those things are not required in the game nor are they side quests, But they would have had no purpose to be done without the achievements system, which adds that much more fun to the game and a reason to do things you otherwise had no reason or would care to do.

To act like a PS3 owner is completley different from a 360 owner on the idea of achievements is absurd, a ps3 owner will just as likley love an achievement system to get them more out of a game they own than they would have otherwise.
and why do you keep saying they are meaningless numbers. They win prizes now in the xbox live rewards program.
http://xboxrewards.msgamestudios.com/
ive already completed mine and won 5 prizes and that makes me happy.
hell got my gamerpoint christmas gift of 3 free live arcade games last month.

ive yet to hear someone say they bought or wanna buy a 360 for achievements. id never tell anyone to buy a 360 for that reason alone either. dont know where that comes from tho.

but from what ive read, ps3 owners have wanted an achievement system for awhile themselves. Even game reviewers preferred giving reviews on 360 versions over any other system because of the achievements, i specifically remember gamespot and IGNs christmas report on how they had to take games home for review over the break and everyone dove for the 360 copies first and anyone who went home with another copy went home upset.
Achievements are fun, Not required, but an amazing idea that does more than just rank up a score.
It gives more playtime to a game, and gives playtime to games that would not have had much otherwise. It offers prizes and tons of fun.

I was trying to make a point that I said blu-ray is a nice bonus for PS3 owners and he said that it's not a reason to buy the system. Then he went on to say achievements was nice for the 360. I was making a point that his own logic was dumb when turned back on himself.

I'm not saying that PS3 can't play the cross-platform games, I'm saying that your statement that PS3 had a better library at this point in it's lifespan than the 360 did at this point is false. The reason why the PS3's library is so good is mostly due to those cross-platform games, so without those the PS3 would be at best on the same level as the 360 was.

But on an off note, I don't see the point to an achievement system. It adds no actual functionality to the game, and any goals they set you could easily set for yourself.

I get more play out of games for different reasons. For example, when I was playing Time splitters future perfect, I'd watch the youtube videos of people making world record runs and do my best to beat them.

I can definetly see trophy's beating the shit out of achievements in this way. Imagine a playthrough of a level of Resistance, watching the world record run through and then trying to beat it. The thing is that there was never any need for achievements in the first place, and all that add is bragging rights, which i couldn't care less about. It's like saying that getting high end gear and access in ffxi is meaningless until xbox adds in some achievements. The point is to do what you want to accomplish and have fun.

If you're looking for fun little challenges for yourself, I could easily do the same shit on my ps3 on crossplatforms.. just couldn't prove I did it, and who cares?

How do cross-platform games make the library worse? I buy the game, put it in the disc drive, run it, play it, have fun. What do I care that Xbox owners can do the same? Is my task in life to ruin gaming for xbox owners?

Ok, what the hell are you guys talking about.

First off, you said that PS3's are freezing because they aren't used for anything.

I counter that it's not true, PS3 is on all the time because it's used for many things. The point is that it doesn't freeze because it wasn't put together like shit causing over half of the older consoles to fail.

Yeah, they have a bigger library, which is what we're talking about. In the end where PS3 is behind 360, the library is smaller, being that it has less games for it being out a year less time... you know, because it wasn't rushed to market with defective machines?

The game library is also leagues better than xbox 360 was until 360 was twice as old, sold more systems without most of them being defective and hasn't even reached Europe yet.

Now I didn't buy PS3 as a Blu-Ray player, as you said, it's not why you buy a game system. However, you didn't buy a 360 for Achievements so don't act like you did because it's bullshit. It's a bonus, and a cheap one at that. Trophy's by the way, like EVERYTHING ELSE IN HOME, doesn't need to be accessed via the 3D world. Any function on Home will be doable with the regular OS bar. What does make the trophies better than achievements, however, is that they're more than just a number. that top scoring lap around the race course for example, can be accessed via the trophy system and others can watch an actual video of you doing it. Or if they don't feel like it, they can just check that you got the trophy.

Not that any of that shit is a reason to actually buy a system, nor is achievements. Blu-Ray alone isn't what got me to buy a PS3, but it is a fucking nice feature that achievements doesn't even compare to by any stretch of the imagination. Seriously...

1 point for beating Resistance single player! 1 point for being co-op! 1 point for winning on hard! 2 points for beating on super human! 2 points for winning 10 games online!

Wow PS3 has achievements now!!!

Get the fuck over it, no PS3 owners give a shit about the lack of some scoring system so everyone can see how much of the game we've all completed.

The only thing that'll actually make me buy a 360 is games I can't get on PS3 or are so unique that the experience can't be replicated by a cross platform or ps3 exclusive. Like Halo 3 isn't going to kill me considering Killzone 2 and UT2k7 will be there to fill the Fps void. Blue Dragon on the other hand, seems tempting. However I couldn't give less a fuck if xbox live allowed random people to know how much I accomplished.

I accomplished a shitload of stuff in FFXI for example and you don't see me listing all the stuff I have or even all the jobs I've leveled down in my QCDN signature, because I don't care.

You've completly lost all ability to maintain a conversation on an un bullshitable level. It's time to toss in the towel.

For your little piece to Bajaratt on how Sony will always have money to back up the PS3... You're wrong, very wrong. Their console department, like all of their other departments, do not spill over. If the PS3 is making Sony loose money for long enough, they'll kill it... Not bring over money from, say, their record production department, or other electronics departments. They have bigger things to risk than loosing money in a console battle.

And you're missing the point, again. You're saying that PS3 has a better library 4 months since it's launch than the 360 did 4 months since it's launch. No shit, of course it does, but what you're completely ignoring is the reason why the PS3 has a better library and that's because of the cross-platform games. It's an unfair comparison to judge one console by it's exclusives alone and another console by it's exclusives and the cross-platform games. Of the exclusives, which I've said about 20 times now is the only real measure of the worth of the console(since cross platforms benefit both consoles equally), PS3 is at best doing just as well as the 360 was 4 months into it's lifespan.

that top scoring lap around the race course for example, can be accessed via the trophy system and others can watch an actual video of you doing it.

Wait, they actually record videos of your top laps? That's INSANE, where does the video get stored? Does it burn the hell out of your internet bandwidth because someone has to download it from you? Does Sony have HUEG LIEK XBOX server space despite not charging for it? How would they keep afloat in this case?

Killzone 2

I still don't understand what all the hubbub is about with this one. Killzone 1 was a mediocre game, at best. It wasn't that great.

To me it really says something that PS3 fans are raving about a sequel to a mediocre game as a major exclusive to drool over. So it has nice graphics, whoopee, so did Wreckless.

As long as you guys keep arguing bullshit points with me, we're going to be stuck in this space where you get frustrated. I, on the other hand don't really mind because I've got logic to back up my case.

It's very simple: Value.

For example... exclusives for PS3?

Littlebigplanet, Final Fantasy 13, Warhawk, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance, Motorstorm, Killzone 2, White Knight Story, Ratchet and Clank, Socom 4, Kingdom hearts 3, FF13 versus

Exclusives for Xbox 360 that have value to me:

Halo 3, Blue Dragon, Dead Rising, Lost Odyssey, Gears of War

And a whole shitload of multiplatforms.

....

Features I care about?

#1 feature besides just playing games?

1. Online matchmaking.
2. Blu-ray player.
3. Backwards compatibility.
4. Not having to send it in for repair 5 times a year
----beyond here I barely care
5. Wireless internet.
6. Rumble.(first feature xbox wins)
7. region free games
8. demos
9. more integrated online service
10. linux partition for emulators
11. Not sounding like a snowblower is under my TV
12. achievements/trophies

Honestly, if Playstation "gold" was available, and I could pay 50 bucks a year to get more demos and achievements I wouldn't even consider it. PSN gives me the 2 things I care about.

1. It tells me what game my friends are playing.
2. It lets me match up with others in online gaming.

For the better hardware in the PS3, which may be years before it shows itself off... for a machine without a 60% failure rate, for the blu ray player, for the wireless internet(that I can now use at home), for the 60 gig harddrive, the PS3 is worth paying 200 bucks more than the 360... to me.

I'm not the one who's getting angry over this conversation, I never regret getting the PS3 for even an instant. I'll probably wind up getting a 360 eventually, but Gears of War and Dead Rising alone aren't making me shell out 300/400. If Blue dragon was out now I'd consider it, but by that point there may be a price drop...and who the fuck really knows when Blue Dragon will come out?

The more you analyze all that's in a PS3, the more you realize it's worth the money. Long term, I like PS3 exclusives more. Valuewise, I'd be willing to pay 200 bucks more for a blu-ray player, for a bigger hard drive and for wireless internet. Longterm, if I had the choice, I'd rather use PSN for free than pay for using Xbox live... in fact, I bet if xbox gave a choice and added basic match making to xbox live silver, then hardly anyone would use gold.

It makes sense to me. Nothing has changed for the PS3 since I bought it. No new Xbox 360 exclusives that make me want to shit myself have been announced. No PS3 games I want have been canceled. Blu-ray hasn't died out. In fact more games I never heard about were shown.

If you don't see the same value in a playstation 3 as I do, fine with me, have fun with your Xbox, but jesus fucking christ...

I LIKE MY PLAYSTATION 3.

GET THE FUCK OVER IT.

GET A FUCKING LIFE.

<Everyone else> You have more posts than anyone else in this thread, lol

I have the most posts because like usual I only will bother taking a stance on QCDN when I am going to be arguing against multiple people, because 1 on 1 or with the odds on my side it's very boring for me.

Oh, I'm not disputing that, I'm just poking fun at your outburst. <3

Offtopic- KH3 was released?

Nope and I can't honestly say with 100% confidence it'll be a PS3 exclusive, but I do know for sure it will be made because I know of several of the people who have confirmed they'll be involved in it. I suspect it will be a PS3 exclusive because they'll use the same engine as FF13 advanced which will be an exclusive and because Kingdom hearts 1 and 2 were PS2 exclusives.

I can say pretty confidently there is no Mushroom Hearts even if Chasym managed to get fooled.
