PS3 is hurting!

Oh, and speaking of Dead Rising, if you want to enjoy it, you really do need High Def. The text in game was made to be seen in high def. If you try playing it on standard def, trying to read the text will make you go blind. That's the game that actually made me go out and get a new TV.

I'd like to throw out Marajade that on even a 20 inch TV, watching Ultimate: Marvel Alliance's beginning intro in high def made me want to run to gamestop and buy my used copy back.

For me its an issue because Its not at the end of my bed, but on the complete other side of the room from me, about a good 30 feet. My current is a 32" standard def TV and it does ok, but I'd never get anything smaller while i'm still in that room.

Problem is i cant find a 32" with HDMI for under 600CND so i might end up eating my words.

Was the same with Motorstorm for me. Tho there wasnt much text so you didnt notice it that much. Just the little intro message whenever you started a new race.

I have a DVD player for DVDs lol I never play DVDs on my consoles because I firmly believe every system has a maximum usage time, and I am not wasting mine on movies. I have yet to watch a single movie on my 360, so I couldn't tell you.

Microsoft loves choice, but only when they are the only one ^^; lol

BR player and DVD player in my consoles ment I never needed to buy a player for them. And the only true difference between most DVD players nowadays is output options, which the PS3 has all the best options (stanard, optical, component, HDMI)

Don't know about that, played metroid on the original NES like an hour ago. I'll use a system for anything it will do... hell I'm listening to the new shins album right now on my PS3. I don't mind spending 600 on a PS3, 400 on an Xbox 360... but I demand those systems last with intensive usage of every aspect they come with from launch until well into the next generation. If they fall short then they weren't worth the money. That shit is more important to me than if Devil May Cry gets a port or not.

When you're looking at a widescreen HDTV, just remember that when you're watching your blu-rays the movie will take up every inch of the screen, as opposed to watching a widescreen movie on a normal TV. I didn't do any math on it, but I assume you'll get more actual area lit up with a 27 inch widescreen than a 32 inch standard def tv.

Now games on the other hand don't have the black parts of the screen. You will get a superior field of view though, with a smaller image. For my dorm getting anything larger than 27 inch isn't a big deal. I lofted my bed, stuck a futon under it and faced it against the TV which is pressed against the wall 4 feet away. If you can't tell, UCONN doesn't give undergrads much love. My closet door is permanently open because I had to move my desk in front of the left side of it.

Oh yeah, let's not forget the #1 reason to get that HDTV... 15 pin inputs! So you can argue over QCDN about video games on a widescreen with a full 1080 resolution. Your flames will be crystal clear and you'll be able to see the pure logic ownage in detail never thought possible. Use the special zooming functions to see every naughty pixel of asian girl avatars and laugh with contempt as you pip-swap your enemies onto a tiny box and mock then while MPKing them over your console.

Total best sell of a HDTV ever. I should work out what that 27" on Newegg costs in CND

That's because Capcom is too fuckin' stubborn to make their game readable on a standard-definition television. All they'd have to do is release a patch, but noooooooooo...

I love Dead Rising, but that tiny text is an unpardonable sin.

LIVE FROM THE UK, VIRGIN MEGASTORE PRESENTS THE PS3 LAUNCH

ps3launchevent4fv2.jpg

There are two people queuing for a PS3. The first one is a woman. All the other people in this picture are journalists and PR people who were probably expecting a better turn out, plus security guards who can't believe how easy the job is as all they have to do is take the names of a few meek writers who want to take photos for their blogs.

EDIT: One of the people in line is buying it to flip it on Ebay. What. The. Fuck.

I'd burst out laughing right now if I wasn't at work. D=

Damn it does look liek the PS3 is really hurting right now, but I dont care. I loved the PS1 and PS2, so im still holding out hope that the PS3 is going to get better. I dont doubt it is, and frankly i dont care if the 360 gets the same games as the PS3, that isnt going to make me buy a 360. If the 360 gets FF, then cool, ill still buy a PS3 and play it there. Im a sony fanboy I guess lol, but i dont care, i dont play games as much anymore anyways.
One thing that I find funny is how everyone is saying PS3 is banking on its exclusives when the WII is doing the same thing. Ive only seen a few WII upcoming lists so i might be wrong, but all I see is SSB, Galaxies, Metroid, No more heroes and Sadness upcoming. Yes they will sell like crazy, but nintendo is banking on those tittles for the most part to sell the Wii. I havent seen alot of 3rd party beyond DS remakes like cooking mama. Dont get me wrong, i like the wii and im going to get it when SSB comes out.

The difference being that the major PS3 exclusives are mostly third-party and the major Wii exclusives are first-party. There's not much risk of seeing SSB, Galaxy or Metroid on the other consoles this generation.

The thing is, the PS3 and the Wii are going for completely different markets, there's not going to be a great deal of overlap in terms of the games. Nintendo has the best first-party developers, which develop most of their exclusives like Cubswoo said, so everyone expects those games to be excellent.

The 360, however, is going for the exact same market as the PS3. Both the 360 and the PS3 multi-platforms will be practically identical games, so looking at the multi-platform games is a complete non-issue, since you can get the game no matter which system you get. Therefore the only real difference between the 360 and the PS3, the only thing that would actually allow you to make a decision between the two is what is different about them, and that's pretty much limited down to only the exclusive games. That's also where the PS3 is falling short; they have very few good exclusive titles, because so many companies are changing their games to being cross-platform due to the low sales.

PS3 launches in Europe with 1 million. Every single person who wanted to preorder was able because they were still selling pre-orders til the last second.

In the US, PS3 launched with 80,000 units, none of which were preordered, a shortage causing scalpers to stalk them for resale on Ebay.

Why the FUCK would you expect people to be lining up on the streets to pick up their PS3 the night before??? Did you think anyone was expecting the entire 1 million to sell out in one day?

Uh, Europe is quite larger than the United States, buddy. A larger population in total by far. Europe doesn't equal the United Kingdom.

700 million Europeans. 300 million Americans(Plus the 20,000 or so Canadians.)
1 million Euro-PS3s. 400,000 NA-PS3s.

The effect should have been nearly mirrored.

Are you kidding me?

300mill>700mill 2.3 times the people.
80,000>1,000,000 12.5 times the PS3s.

And that's assuming the PS3 is launching in every country in Europe, to get those 700 million. Where is it really launching? England, France, Germany, Spain?

On top of that, when you reach a certain demand threshold you get ebayers buying most of your systems.

Uh, North America definitely had more than 80,000 launch PS3s. Japan sold something like 85,000 sold on launch day. And they claimed to have half a million total between Japan and North America.

In the batch that were actually sold in Europe, South Africa and Australlia shared these launch numbers. The Eurozone, which is the official target launch area is more than just those 4 countries.

You're right about demand threshold, which was the point of Cubswoos post. The PS3 has virtually no real demand with the Euro launch.

Wow, denial much? You're actually thinking that everyone had pre-ordered the PS3 and then just decided to not go pick it up? Most people who pre-ordered a Wii were getting theres, but people were still actually waiting in line for it(10 at my gamestop). Even if they pre-ordered, there would have been people waiting in line to pick it up, but there wasn't.

Also, one of the two people in that line was going to buy SIX of the PS3's, so apparently they didn't have enough pre-orders to prevent him from doing so.
