PS3 is hurting!

Let's keep this sensible. If you were to pay $300 for the motion sensing on the Wii, it would be better replicated. A $30 racing wheel vs. a $30 control pad. Which would you rather use?

Remember, you know they'll yield the same gameplay results, but which would you find more enjoyable?

If the wheel turns the car right when I turn right, turns it left when I turn left, shifts the gears when I shift the gear, and accelerates/breaks when I step on acceleration/brakes, then I'm going to prefer the wheel.

And if the wii-mote made Link stab forward when I stabbed forward, side slashed when I side slashed and spun around when I spun it around, I'd prefer it over a my wavebird controller. Didn't have to slash at the same angle that I slashed or the same speed that I slashed, just an attempt at making it seem natural is all I wanted.

You play Wii Zelda for a few hours, you get used to the controls, they're just not any more enjoyable than a gamecube controller and take more effort to use.

Should I put an end to this? lol

Nintendo is a Gamecube game, ported to the Wii. The easiest way to tell is the layout of Hyrule and the fact that Link is really left handed. If you compare the world of Hyrule to past Zelda games, you will notice that the Gamecube version fits the layout perfectly, while the Wii version is mirrored. You can tell the Wii version is the mirror because Link is right handed in the Wii version, when in fact he is left handed.

Even if you don't know these facts, I will tell you flat out that it is a Gamecube game with reconfigured controls to match certain predetermined motions of the Wiimote.

As far as Square-Enix goes, they are their own company. The jump from Nintendo to Sony was, like Fire said (I think it was Fire), due to the fact that Nintendo was sticking with cartidges, which FF games would not be able to be stored on due to their sheer volume. However, like it was also said, Square-Enix has said publically that they wish to return to their roots, which is of course Nintendo. With FF games coming out on Nintendo systems, as well as the announcement of the exlusivity of Dragon Quest IX to the DS, Square-Enix has been backing up this claim of returning to their roots. They have said flat out that they will still moderately support Sony, but they don't want to remain exclusive because they don't want Sony to win a console war, but they don't want to drop all titles from the console because they don't want Sony to die.

I will add more as I read more of the above posts.

Unless they've been altered in some way that pushes their performance past what older hardware could output, it's not a next gen title simply because they stuck it on a next gen disc. I don't need a wii to play zelda, don't need a playstation 3 to play fight night 3, the difference is that fight night round 3 and xbox 360 version of fight night 3 outputs high def graphics that the PS3 and X box versions can't.

Problem is your standards are too low because you're being far too easy on the Wii. You couldn't have played Super Mario World on the NES, you couldn't have played Mario 64 on the SNES. You couldn't have played Mario Sunshine on the N64. These games show a progression of technology, the wii HAS NOT ONCE yet. All it rests is on the Wii-mote and the wii-mote isn't even needed for Zelda in the form they're delivering nor is it for super smash bros which is gonna use a gamecube controller.

Those games show progression of gameplay moreso than graphics. While I think Mario World COULD be on the NES, and Sunshine COULD have been on the N64 without excessive quality loss but that's not really the issue here. Why can't the control method be the progression of technology? Could Wario Ware or Wii Play been on last-gen systems? Would you be able to play games like Rayman, Trauma Center, or Elebits the same way? Right now it seems like the high-def 'advantage' is what the PS3 is trying to run with since their entire lineup to date has been ports, one decent shooter and one good fighter - but I haven't seen anything demonstrably more advanced over what the 360 can output unless you have an HDTV that can do 1080p. Show of hands?

You play Wii Zelda for a few hours, you get used to the controls, they're just not any more enjoyable than a gamecube controller and take more effort to use.

Matter of opinion. The aiming capabilities of the Wii Zelda alone made them much more enjoyable and intuitive over the Gamecube controls, especially during multi-tasking situations.

Ahahahahahahahaha

April or May is when we feel like we're going to catch up to demand and have product fully in stock across North America and stay there.

It's a testament to the fact that we've been able to manufacture and ship units on a greater pace than any previous console.

Our goal is to fill shelves across the United States. Our goal is not to have empty shelves, it's to have full shelves. If we have empty shelves, that's one less consumer who could have bought a PLAYSTATION 3.

Sony's first step needs to be to fire their entire PR department yesterday.

There's more than graphics in terms of a system's progression. There's processing power, ram and media space size. Not every game needs to push a system to its limit instead of focusing on gameplay, but if there's no reason to update a system, why update a system? If you're not going to push out a more powerful game, why make Wii, why not just sell a wii-mote for gamecube?

As far as the PS3 shortages go:

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Computer...5801be0d117bc7010d3a74224705dc&itemPosition=1

Amazon doesn't have any and the resellers are selling them at $720 a pop as of this post. PS3 is in the top 10 of Amazon.com video game sales off those 700+ resells. If you can just pick one up anywhere in the continent why are so many still buying them for 100 bucks and shipping over the 600 dollar tag?'

There are shortages somewhere, seems like they were just shipped unevenly or something.

Because mid-lifespan addons normally have a low adoption rate and little to no acceptance from developers. The reason the Wii control system is working is because the system is built around it, not the other way around.

Funny isn't it? They need to sell a 250 dollar system to push a 2 dollar sensor bar.

And that $2 sensor bar is doing more for gaming/pushing more systems out the door than the $5000+ entertainment setup you need to fully enjoy everything the PS3 has to offer.

hay fire, you're a tard, the sensor bar only has LED lights on it. You can replace it with two candles if you want to for all the wiimote cares. The only thing it works for is the pointer. The rest of the motion sensing is in the wiimote itself.

And obviously, based on the fact that even the SIXAXIS is $50 on its own, that technology isn't some $2 junk, lol.

Also, I have to point this out, Lan -

[Zelda] is a Gamecube game, ported to the Wii. The easiest way to tell is the layout of Hyrule and the fact that Link is really left handed. Past Zelda games? In LttP, Kakariko village was in the West. It's flipped back and forth, so it's only "on the wrong side" if OoT is the ONLY zelda game. =p And I know I'm not the only one who thinks that overall LttP > OoT.

Fire, you're being an idiot. Most of the people that I know that bought Wii didn't buy it because of Zelda - they bought it because of the wii-mote. How do I know this? Most of the people I know who bought wii all ready have a gamecube and don't have a lot of money to blow on things they really don't want. I"m a huge zelda fan and I didn't pick up wii for Zelda because I knew it's going to come out on the gamecube. I bought a Wii for all the other shit that's going on for it. Wii Sports, Smooth Movies, Trauma Centre, Raving Rabbits - not to mention all the other stuff that's on the way like Metroid, SSBB, Crystal Chronicals, Mario Galaxies. I ended up buying Zelda for the Wii anyway and absolutely loved the control setting - my fave part? aiming my controller at the TV for shotting shit and using my double hook shots. Sounds silly but it made the game more enjoyable so who gives two shits?

PS3 is hurting, the whole industry knows this minus sony. They're whole "If you can find a PS3 on the shelves we'll buy it for you for 1200!!!" fully illustrates just how disconnected they are from the current market. I'm not going to say that Sony hasn't done some good things - I own a PS2 and PS1 and got tons of play out of it. My PS1 hardware is shit but the games more than made up for the fact I have to play my system upside down and at an angle. Sony's in house development team has made 3 of my fave games, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and Wild Arms. However to say that they're the video game giants as of now...in this generation is just blind. It's like saying that about nintendo when the N64 was out. "WELL THEY SOLD TONS OF SNES!!! SO THE MUST BE GREAT!" That's what you sound like. I own an N64 and it houses two of my fave games (Star Fox and Majora's Mask) but it by far, was not a successful system.

Pull your head out of your ass and look at the sales figures. I don't care if Wii has the shittiest graphics out of all the systems, the games are fun and the low sales price is getting people to pick them up. Hell My MOM plays Trauma Centre for shits sake - she hates video games! Obviously Nintendo is doing something right, it's the DS vs PSP all over again. DS had shittier graphics and weird games and absolutely stomped the PSP. Besides if I wanted a graphically superior system right now I'd pick up a 360. It has games, nice graphics and is $300 cheaper than a PS3.

PS3 may rock in a year or so if Sony can get it's shit together but as of now it sucks. Even PS3 owners are like "uhhh...you should wait to get one of these" where as most Wii owners are pretty happy with their purchase.

PS: Porting Zelda to the Wii was brilliant - it got all the people who were going to pick up a wii, buy it right away. All the Wii's sold with zelda would of been sold eventually anyway - it' just got it off the shelves sooner than later.

Whoa. I need to get farther in this game. @_@

You're so right. My mom and dad are addicted to my Wii. They play it more than I do. My mom wants me to purchase all the games on the Wii-Console so she can play old school Mario. My dad loves Wii-Sports Bowling and wants me to get Wario Ware Smooth Moves.

From parents who said I shouldn't buy a 360 to thinking about getting a Wii of their own says a lot. Nintendo did something absolutely right in this war, and they will win it - no doubt.

I'm super happy with my Wii purchase. I don't even know if Sony will get their act together. Most of their 'PS3-Onry' titles are sneaking up on 360's shores because developers are scared that with the small amount of PS3's they won't sell as many games to make a profit. Dun dun dun.

Also, may I again reference January's NPD numbers which show PS3 getting whipped by PS2 and 360, and... well, frankly, the Wii made everything its bitch.

Most of the Wii games out now don't justify their $50 price tags, because their production values are low and the actual games are very short. Their best selling game is a Gamecube port. Trauma Center is a DS port. Their CoD is a port from the PS2 version.

Now you're just knocking it based on relative popularity. 2 million PS3s sold so far, half as many as Wii.

There were 10 million gamecubes sold and 130 million ps2s sold. I don't recall people declaring that the gamecube flopped. I don't recall xbox 360 selling 2 million in this point in its life cycle. I expected PS3 to have low sales until there were more games out, I don't know why everyone is so shocked and awed that without any really exceptional exclusives out that it's not leading the market yet. I think the people who are being idiots are the people who are making a big deal out of it, trying to act like 2 million, without even the European launch out yet, is a surprisingly low number. Did you expect people were going to buying up every unit out there until Metal Gear and FF13 came out?

How many people on this very board who are trashing PS3 said they were gonna get one eventually when more games came out? Some of us can just afford to buy one now.

As for the Wii, there's no way that Trauma Center, 6 hour long, 50 dollar game... Wii sports, half finished tech demo and some other random low production value games are going to justify the Wii's price tag any more than Resistance, VF5 and Fight Night 3 justify the PS3. If you can honestly say that you'd be happy with the Wii knowing that you could never buy any more games, then sure, but most people are happy with the knowledge Smash bros and metroid are coming out, and hopefully a zelda that's actually designed for the wii.

Sales figures again. I don't rate systems, games, movies or books based on their popularity. People are stupid, look how many people watched Titanic? It had a bigger box office gross than Terminator 2.

By the way, it's $200 cheaper than the 360 not $300. You can get a cheaper version of the PS3 just like you can get a cheaper version of the Xbox.

Oh yeah, if you want internet service that's another 60, for the first year.... so I guess it's 140 dollars cheaper.

Forgot, if you want the wireless internet adapter that's another 100... so I guess it's 40 dollar cheaper...

Want that HD DVD attachment so it can play High def movies? Don't even think about it! We won't even add that in! How about a hard drive? Doesn't come with that.

I didn't say it wasn't a good business move, I said it didn't add any value to the gameplay and the Wii version was no reason to get a Wii. They could have set it so you had to play with a gamecube controller, and people would have bought the Wii version because they assume for the more advanced system the game isn't identical.

I'm also going to point out that while this next gen it going to take a while to really take over the market, the PS2 still dominates by more than PS3, Wii, xbox 360, X box and gamecube put together. So to say that Sony doesn't have exclusive power because the PS3 isn't out isn't highly accurate, is it? Sony still controls the market share until the 6th generation is finished, and it isn't going to be finished until next year at the earliest, giving the PS3 plenty of time to build exclusives.

So how about that $500 PS3 that also doesn't have Wi-Fi? And you're assuming the cheaper model, for shame...

But, well, if you pay the extra $100 for the better 360 model, you get a hell of a lot more compared to $500 vs. $600... sadly Sony decided to gouge the gamer on one important detail, Wi-Fi, which on its own adds $100 to get separately - all but forcing gamers to spend $600 in the end. And they still cheaped out on the HD cables, unlike MS... which cost $60-100 retail for HDMI.

And if you're, you know, playing video games, that $200 HD-DVD drive is immaterial and shouldn't be factored into the cost.

1. Notice the word "RETAIL". I used it for a reason, thanks.

2. I've played it a lot, it's quite LOL. I also seem to recall something about the PS3 version being terribly disappointing because it's almost identical to the 360 version...

I'm not gonna get involved in the whole argument... but I'm just gonna comment on this.. To assume their ignorance is really foolish. If they are hurting, I guarantee you they know it, and are trying to figure out some way to remedy the situation.

That's shipped, not sold. Sony has shipped 2 million consoles, but around half of that is what's actually sold, the rest is sitting on store shelves.
