PS3 is hurting!

PS3 is taking full advantage of the new Blu-Ray formatted disks. 80 odd gigs of memory to the standard (idk how much). Resistance: FoM was amazing. PS3 is way ahead of its time. TO get the full experience of the PS3 you NEED HDMI, which most people do not have, and dont want to pay for.

So when the console was 5 years old and dropped because it got discontinued? Shit, then the PS2 and the Xbox are going to be recycled soon too. Seriously, you're saying that the Wiimote is a gimmick because eventually the system will be worth a lot less than it is now?
So your saying the Wii ISNT a Gimmick?
Answer why the Wii is selling so hot. Minus the controller and the price.

Innovate doesn't mean Invent. Yes, they brought tech that hasn't been introduced in to home consoles before. THAT is Innovation.

Could it be that, you know, it's fun? Where as the PS3 currently isn't?

You don't know a lot. It's 25 gigs to a single layer. And it's not memory, it's disk space. Two entirely different things. Disk Space can be used as a substitute for Memory, but not from a read-only disc.

360 and xbox made their consoles bigger, faster, stronger while nintendo decided graphics aren't important.

Nintendo took a corvette and put navigation and onstar on it, 360 and xbox took a corvetter and juiced the engine up and put on some racing slicks.

Gimmicks are fun for a while, but i want my games to look better with each new system I buy.

360 has the games to take advantage of their new upgrades, ps3 doesn't, and wii is still making little kids games.
Innovation is doing something new, they went in a different direction from "OMG MORE GRAPHICS!" They went for more immersion with the controller, throwing the level of motion sensing tech into the controller is innovative. You don't have to have the newest, most expensive technology to be innovative, in fact that's not innovative at all if it's only an upgrade. They used currently available, proven, cheaper, technology to do something that hasn't been done before; that's the definition of innovation, doing something new.

The graphics can be better than anything last-gen, but like all consoles it will take a while before the games that push the system's specs come out. Nintendo's games might be safe for little kids to play, but they're still hugely entertaining to adults. Unless you're some immature moron, the M rating on a game shouldn't be a big factor in your decision about a game's entertainment value.

By this logic the PS3 has more innovations than any system on the market

Elaborate. Sony didn't do anything innovative. An improvement on the same old-same old isn't Innovation, it's Recycling. You're paying $600 for the same gameplay experience as last gen, but with a better look to it.

WHat makes it fun?

Gee. Games? Something the PS3 lacks a lot of that aren't ownable by Xbox 360 owners?

25 gigs for single layer, 50 gigs for dual layer. And Resistance was only 15 gigs, enough to put on a HD-DVD or 2 dual-layered normal DVD's. Nothing is taking advantage of the 25-50 gig storage yet, and won't be for a very long time; unless you want to count whole box-sets being included on a single disc.

No, a gimmick is some minor, usually crappy, addition to something to make it seem better than it really is; that would be the six-axis. The Wiimote isn't a gimmick when it's the whole basis of the console. And Skaw nailed it, the Wii is fun, whereas the PS3 is a waste of money right now. Considering how much better the Wii is outselling the PS3, it's pretty obvious which one is more fun.

1.) You said that inovation is bringing something new to home SYSTEMS. PS3 brought, Blu-Ray, HDMI, Sixaxis, first full re-chargeable Controller, Wireless Web built in.

2.) So, you would rather have 30 shittastic games then 3 good ones? That is what Wii did. 30 Launch titles. All fucking shit, minus Wii Sports which came with it. Maybe a few other games. And like all new systems, they dont lauch shit. I am not saying the PS3 launch games were amazing, but they were not complete shit either and didnt waste the money to produce games just to put them out there.

My friend had a baseball game and tennis game with the same technology.

The games were used in a console and each game came with the bat/racket. So yes, it has been available for home. On top of that, they ran only 50$ each about 3 years ago.

Blu-Ray is just an improvement on DVD. HDMI is just an improvement on Composite Video. Sixaxis is just a dual shock controller with a tilt sensor that maybe 5 games will take advantage of, read: gimmick. Xbox 360's Wireless controllers are rechargable, during play, just like the Sucksaxis. Wii had WiFi built in as well.

Thats your personal opinion. But the Wii has a larger variety of exclusives than Playstation 3's. Thats why it's selling. Why pay $600 if you can pay $400 for a 360 and play the same games?

I wouldn't call One Title Per Play "systems" consoles at all. And I'm pretty sure those were tilt-sensor as well. Since it didn't matter how hard you swung, results were always the same.

rechargable controllers were last-gen, the rest(including wifi, but that's Wii also) are just improvements on last gen; that's not innovative, that's upgrading.

The games are a matter of opinion, and you're retarded if you think all the Wii launch games sucked. I remember almost all of the Wii launch titles getting better reviews than any of the PS3 launch titles, save resistance.

im not saying the PS3 lauch didnt suck. It did. The Wii's was their with it. Wii won with its mass-amounts of games.

And thats what it's about, the games available. No one gave an opinion on quality but you.

Kelyon said:
So your on the quanity > quailty side?

When the quantity has enough quality to justify buying, vs. a quantity found elsewhere, yes.

Quality is a personal opinion. Quit acting like your opinion on games is law.

There was about 10x more good Wii games than good PS3 games, so yeah Wii had more, but they were better too.

True quality is a personal opnion. On that note, Bajaratt defending the Wii's lauch with review scores is bullshit. I have played games that were said 10's and i hated this. Played games said to be 5's and thought it was amazing.

I sincerely hope you don't use composite video. If you aren't using component or better it will make a whole lot more sense as to why you accept 3rd rate graphics on games as a sacrifice to being able to wave your remote around.

I play on plasma (before it blew up on me, 6 years), and now play on 52" projection, and my composite inputs on my computer are for my atari joystick thing only.

You miss out if you don't step your visual game up, NO MORE YELLOW, WHITE AND RED!!!!!

Resistance is to PS3 as Perfect Dark Zero is to X360. An average game that gets more credit than it deserves because it's a launch shooter.

And if, like you say, the PS3 is 'ahead of its time' why the hell should I spend full price for it when I can wait 3 or 4 years, spend $200-250 less for it when it is its 'time?' Assuming developer support hasn't eroded by then.

So your saying the Wii ISNT a Gimmick?
Answer why the Wii is selling so hot. Minus the controller and the price.

Why can't either of those be valid reasons? Joe or Jane Average has an average entertainment setup (read: no HD today, but may consider it in the next 3 years/if the prices plummet) and wants to take a stab at 'the videos game.' Pros and cons of each system:

Xbox 360 pros: Largest current-gen lineup, most full-featured online system, can sync with their PC for media streaming, supports HD out of the box, Xbox Live Arcade for low-cost retro and niche games.

Cons: Monthly fee for Live, $60 games, no HDMI inputs, must spend an extra $200 for HD-DVD later, few exclusive AAA titles outside of the shooter genre, limited backwards compatibility with Xbox 1.

Wii pros: Cheapest console by far, comes with game included, cheapest games, remote/nunchuk controls, Wii Shop channel for retro console gaming, best first-party development house, lowest power output, 100% backwards compatibility with Gamecube.

Cons: Difficult to find systems and accessories, does not output in HD, graphics behind the curve set by 360 and PS3, fewer 'mature' titles currently, no DVD playback.

PS3 pros: HDMI supported out of the box, Blu-Ray player included, outputs at highest HD resolutions, support for external hard drives and secondary OS (i.e. Linux,) free online gaming, limited motion controls, excellent backwards compatibility with PS1 and PS2.

PS3 cons: Requires well beyond average entertainment setup to benefit from most pros, most expensive console by far, $60 games, no rumble feedback, requires additional purchase to use PS1/PS2 savegames, most current titles also available on 360.

The price of the Wii puts it squarely in the impulse buy category and, 'gimmick' or not, it's the most accessible console to both casual and hardcore gamers. But let's say the Wii is sold out (because let's face it, if you walk into a store and ask for a Wii you're likely not getting one.) They can either pay $400 for next-gen graphics today or $600 for what may end up being slightly crisper next-gen graphics in 2 or 3 years.
