PS3 is hurting!

I will throw one thing out there... they're going to be making announcements later this year about what the Kingdom hearts projects will be... and if they make a spinoff for the 360 with the same gameplay as 1 and 2... I will happily buy a 360.

I don't know... PS2 is possible but I think honestly they will announce it for PS3 cause it'll help sales of FF13 to help sales of PS3. With Mistwalker in Microsoft's pocket, FF13's only competition on the PS3 will be White Knight Story for a really epic RPG right now. PS2 has a user base but it's also flooded with games. Notice how systems will smaller bases and less releases get huge sales from big hits, even cross platform. Like gamecube was 1/6 of PS2 userbase and had more timesplitters sales... cause no FPS competing with it on gamecube. Halo 1/2 were huge successes with tiny userbases, cause every xbox owner got them.

Nope, not going to think about 360 until their fail rate drops to an acceptable rate. I also don't really like how Microsoft claimed it was 4% when it was obviously 10 times that... that's very dishonest and they should get sued for lying about something like that.

lol, the 360 hasn't been out for 2 years. It's been available about 16 months.

Fun fact: The 360 had a head start of exactly 360 days over the PS3 - november 22 2005 vs november 17 2006.

Well let's not use a single case basis. Statistics seem to show a 60% death rate of the xbox 360, that means 40% of xbox owners will say, "Xbox 360 fail? Mine's never given me any trouble."

Of course 12% isn't great either on the PS2's case by any means. PS3 is really reliable, but as a company Nintendo's the only brand I'd trust as terms of hardware not failing on name alone.

Aye. They say the only way to break a gamecube is a user problem.(aka stepping on it, or throwing it"

I saw a video of someone hitting a gamecube with a sledge hammer and it still loaded a game.

The more you analyze all that's in a PS3, the more you realize it might be worth it 2 or 3 years down the line when you can pay less and enjoy a console with all those features plus a library of games worth playing.

Endless cycle. No reason to buy the console now = developers don't keep exclusives exclusive = no reason to buy the console later. Unless you like blu-ray I guess

watching lolG4, they dropped a Xbox, PS2, and GC of a 3 story roof. GC is the only one that worked. I don't think twice about buying Nintendo because i know their shit works.

Yeah, I didn't even get the warranty for my Wii, I've never had a problem with Nintendo hardware before.

Software tends to balance itself out depending on what the console's owners tend to buy. Market share is a bigger audience but a system with more games is more competitors. Hence, look at the sales of timesplitters on the gamecube. PS2 had a whole slew of mediocre first person shooters which hurt timesplitters sales but excelled on gamecube with nothing else really worth mentioning.

By the logic of developers abandoning a console based on install base... there'd be no new consoles and no launch games.

Ok here is a new thing. THe backwards compatability shit.
Why would you buy a new system to play old games. I could care less about playing old games on a new system. Any other opinions?

Yeah, just because a new system is out doesn't mean that the older games are automatically not worth playing; especially when the launch lineup isn't impressive for the new system. You can make a little money to mitigate the cost of the new system and save some space.

And once emulation takes over, we get upscaling.

And if you liked the PS2's lineup, which most of the universe did, then upscaling adds some value. Personally can't wait to see pics of God of War 2 upscaled.
