PS3 is hurting!

Since you want FF2 so badly, I shall grant your wish.

11 bucks, comes with Chronotrigger. You can thank me later.

The PS1 versions of the SNES FFs had atrocious load times. Think 3-5 seconds to get IN AND OUT OF MENUS. Longer for battles. That system sucked shit for anything 2D aside from SotN and some Capcom games because it wasn't designed to do much more than push polys.

Yea, the SNES PSX titles did suck, I much prefer the originals or the Advance versions with the extras and retranslations.
Although the NES/Famicom 1/2 for FF Origins was good, as was Dawn of Souls for GBA.

The Playstation Chrono Trigger is nearly unplayable. 20~seconds before and after battles of the game just sitting there, music playing. Almost as if it's locked up.

Every. Single. Battle.

The only thing keeping it from being completely unplayable is that there are no random encounters. Good god that'd blow.

Although I didn't play the FF PSX titles much, I did play CT on psx 10 times thru at least if not more, to see all the endings, and just cause I <3 CT I could put up with the horrid load times. The load times were better than my FF Anthology FFV save glitching and deleting itself when I was at Moore Forest though >>
I'd kill for a port/remake for DS though.

Hi Fire,

You're a dumbass.

Nevermind the fact that FFIV Chronicles and FFIV Advance are both entirely different versions of the game. I called it "FF2US" for a reason.

Much love,

So you have the game you don't want, what does that matter to the conversation? I showed you a PS1 port of the game, I wasn't the one who coded it so I'm not the one who made it slow loading. The only PS1 port I've played is FF3 and there weren't any loading problems.

Yeah, it was awful. FF4 is one of my favorite RPGs, so I jumped at the chance to get the updated translation on the PS1. I didn't get very far because the load times sucked ass. The GBA port is a hell of a lot better.

Makes me wonder how they'd handle it if they ever did a VC port. Which translation would they use? Either way, I'm sure Firestreak would bitch about the price, hehe.

You're kidding me right? FF3/6 had annoying ass load times too, the transitions between fight scenes suffered from lag, and menus had a 2-4 second load time, among other problems.
It wasn't nearly as bad as CT, but it was still crap.

Fire, you probably just never played the original which loaded everything instantly.

And FF4 Chronicles is NOT a port of FF2us, it's a retranslated port of FF4j with a mixture of elements from Hardtype and Easytype.

Or do you think MGS:The Twin Snakes is the same thing as MGS PS1? I mean, it's just a port...

I played the original but it was like a billion years ago when it just came out. By far the most unplayable port I've found was the PC version of ff7, but I beat that too. Load times don't really bother me, it's not like I'm gloating the PS3 Oblivian is so much better than the Xbox 360 cause of load time.

As far as port differences... the PS1 port seems to be identical to the Snes port in terms of gameplay, except for some cutscenes added in and the save point system a little different. It looks the same to me, plays the same and the loading times were not a problem.

The only loading times that bother me are big loads for single levels when a death kicks you out to the main menu, forcing you to do the big load again. 3-4 seconds here and there I won't really notice because it's not long enough time for me to get bored.

Oblivion has very little load times after the initial load. Even on my less than mediocre PC, Oblivion loads fast when going between areas. And that first load isn't long at all.

edit: not saying you're lying. I'm sure it does have slightly faster load times than the 360, seeing as how it's a superior machine. But the Playstation was much more superior in terms of hardware than the SNES, and the load times of the ports were just awful.

Yeah, I don't think anyone said he'd be wrong. I mean, everyone was pretty much calling it downright sad if neither came true.

Seconded.
