lol wow, i didnt think so many people would respond to this. why are you all so mad? i thought it was funny as hell to see the faces on the people standing in line.

This was retarded and un-original. There are videos like that from when the 360 came out, PS2, Etc.

"Oh look at me I'm a rebel I smashed a PS3".

there's a whole site for it, for all the systems. and thats not called being a rebel, thats called crushing people's dreams ^^.

How is it retarded and un-original when it's the same people doing it?

Its just retarded then.

I'm going to make a video of me burning a 100 dollar bill in front of a bunch of homeless people. Anyone want to donate 1 dollar towards the video because I'm too much of a cock to use my own money?

That's a bad comparison. =/

Or set a sandwich on fire, and the put it out by pissing on it.

Nah, they'd still eat it. Hell, I'd think about it :o

Still a bad comparison. People waiting in line for PS3s are already rich or trying to make money. Homeless people have a dire, pressing need for the money or food.

I guess actually a bottle of alcohol would be a decent comparison.

Still flawed though.

It's a hundred dollar bill. They don't have it and they want it. I'd like to flaunt the fact that I have it and don't even want it in their face by destroying it. There's no statement being made against the rich by destroying a PS3, rather showing how much of a rich asshole he is by sledgehammering a 600 dollar machine just to be a dick.

But it says nothing about him being a rich asshole because he didn't even pay for the system, it was paid for by donations from people who enjoyed the prior editions of smash my _________.

It's a statement against rabid, psychotic fanboyism and the insane drive to be the first to have the new gadget.

I rather look at it as a statement of what a vain, spiteful and judgemental society we are sometimes. Where within it we value any action to get attention over the ability to do things of actual value for the world. Where we have a culture where wastefulness is not looked down upon and hard work and intelligent design is looked upon with distain.

what's sad is that most fool themselves into believing that that's not the truth of the matter. What's sad is that people continuely lying to themselves and nothing is changing at all. Oh well.. society needs help..

The rich people are usually smart enough to pre-order it or get one from another means. They aren't standing in line.

And if the sandwhich was Roast beef with some Miracle Whip, no thought required.

even though its funny, its quite a waste, places will sell out and people wont get one that WANT one because of people like that.

A PS3 is a blue ray DVD player that's cheaper than any others on the market by hundreds of dollars and is just as high quality and with standard loading time. That alone means anyone saying you could get something better for cheaper is absolutely wrong.

You know, people said the exact same thing about the PS2, when they heard that it could play DVD movies on it. The fact is, the movie capabilities of the PS2, were extremely poor, whereas a low end DVD player, would vastly out-do the system. Just because the PS3 HAS Blue-ray DVD capability, doesn't mean that its going to be any good. I would think that the Blue-ray DVD players are going to be vastly superior, given the extra cost for it.

Either way, Blue-ray is not a big deal at the moment, and who knows when it will hit mainstream or not. Its pointless to spend that much money, so soon, for a capability that has absolutely no use (other than the extra disc capacity...which, btw, also isn't needed yet).

As for the video...it really wasn't impressive. Sure, make a statement to the people standing in line, but my god..do a better job at it. The video was *boring*.
