PS3 price cut coming.

Sounds like a certain classic coin-op. lulz.

How can people not be interested in Heavenly Sword? well, some people just might not like that type of game, full stop, end of discussion. Not everyone likes every genre of video game.

Oh yeah, after seeing this latest vid, I don't see how anyone who considers them self a gamer can claim no interest in Heavenly Sword.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3CHHQ3A8
I never said that I had no interest, only that Ratchet and Clank was by far the most I was interested in. Initially, I wasn't interested because there was nothing to be interested in, they hadn't released much information about it. Now though, Heavenly Sword looks like god of war with a woman and a second character. It actually holds some interest, but it's still not a game that I'm really dying to play.

Also, saying "you're not a gamer if you don't like this one game, especially if it's a game that's not even out yet is dumb. I hate most sports games, driving games and fighting games, doesn't mean I'm not a gamer for not liking the genre.

Yaya, I'm a little enthusiastic about Heavenly Sword, jump down my throat please. It's not a sports game, it's not a FPS or RPG, the 3 big genres that some people will automatically hate. It's a hack and slash on a message board that loves God of War and it looks fantastic.

But seriously check out the video. It's going to have a lot of fantastic elements going on at once. To me it looks amazing to just other people play.

It looks like its going to be good. Just not even in my top 10 game sim looking foward to. Does have some cool features tho.

From what osyris said earlier in his rough description of the game.... seems like the Dark Prince side of PoP TT... >.>

And if it is anything like it, it's going to suck. Too many puzzles in The Two Thrones literally required you to have nearly full health before attempting them as Dark Price, or you end up dead before, or as you complete them.

It looked neat, but if the decreasing health thing is a problem, enjoyability will shoot down.

The reason HD DVD is hanging on is pretty simple. I've said this from months ago and it should be completely apparent at this point.

First off, HD DVD players are being sold at a loss... poorly. There's one major studio exclusively supporting them, Universal, and they're losing on sales as a result.

Now Toshiba can't win the market and therefore can't make a return on their investment in bleeding cash on selling at loss. To top it all off, they're spending hundreds of millions uselessly on advertising campaigns.

From a business perspective it would appear as if Toshiba and Universal had gone insane.

However you have to consider two things.

1) Microsoft doesn't actually want HD DVD winning shit. Microsoft wants digital distribution so it can get a cut out of every sale.

Toshiba gets royalties on the old standard def DVDs.

They both know they can't win.

But they both want to slow blu-ray, to prolong to life of DVD and to increase customer frustration with media. Hence Toshiba knowingly continues onward towards death while Microsoft helps cover their losses and pays out Universal for exclusivity.

All that needs to happen is blu-ray user base to reach the point where potential blu-ray sales are more than MS is willing to pay out and bam... Toshiba packs its back and goes home.

And for the record, Blu-ray is selling faster than DVD period, not out of HD DVD owners. DVD was around for a while before it picked up thanks largely in part to the Matrix release and PS2.

When DVD got popular, it shot up extremely fast. However it didn't have something like the PS3 to throw millions of players out within its first few months.

Blu-ray won't have that same huge spike as DVD had though, when suddenly everyone had one. However as it becomes the established brand and HDTVs continues to lower price, you'll see Blu-ray gain at a constant rate directly linked to the HDTV takeover.

At this point you can comfortably say Blu-ray has its penetration handled well before it actually overtakes DVDs. It's just a domino effect.

Fire I am going to point something out to you. You DON'T NEED a HDTV for when everything goes digital. Yes that is what is happening whenever the change actually occurs. You just need to pick up a converter box for oh about a 10th of what a HDTV will run.

Also isn't blu-ray losing money because not many blu-ray players (read: PS3s) have sold? Then they too are losing money... poorly. You of course wont understand this because you seem to think technology is perfect as soon as it comes out.

You also seem to miss the point that not every movie is being released onto Blu-ray. Sure a good majority of them are being released onto blu-ray for the simple fact of appeasing the populous that bought a blu-ray player for their high def televisions. Although you seem to just orgasm over anything that remotely says HD compatible.

Seriously do you want true high definition? Going to a play will blow your mind with how tripped out you get over movies in high definition. Hell actually going outside should just make your brain melt because of how much you apparently jerk it to your high definition... everything.

Your jihad about PS3 is just retarded. The PS3's price isn't worth buying one because well the PS3 doesn't have many good games. I am not saying R:FoM is a bad game, but please stop glorifying Motorstorm. It's a pretty racing game. Guess what Gran Turismo is a pretty racing game. Forza is a pretty racing game. You know what all racing games are the same. You drive around trying to finish in first. Quite frankly I think that gets boring. You listed Haze as coming out for the PS3 when it's multiplatform. You listed Ninja Gaiden Sigma as an exclusive when it's a port. MLB 07 The Show is also technically a port. Hell I got the same game you did about a month earlier then you did because you wanted the better graphics. I will tell you this the game play of MLB 07 is the same on PS2 and PS3. The only difference is one has prettier graphics. How can you sell a system with mostly multiplatform and ports when you can pick it up for slightly less graphics on a cheaper system?

I am tired of reading this pointless bickering, and honestly I don't give a shit if you answered these questions already. PS3 isn't the end all be all. Could it be at some point? Hell yes it could because these counsels are still young. Does PS3 have a lot of ground to cover? Fuck yes it does.

I hate games sometimes where you have to have blind faith or that you have to 'know' something. Like what you said skaw about PoP TT... the only way you get thru puzzles like that is if you 'know' it's there... which usually means the 'guess and check and death' method.

So everyone isn't drooling to play the game and you think they're jumping down your throat? God forbid anyone wants to play a different game.

I've seen the video, some interesting things but it still looks like god of war with a woman. By the way, that's a good comparison(since you obviously didn't get it last time), because the god of war games were awesome. All people are doing by making that comment is giving a frame of reference of the game play; no one said it sucked. Only TheOsyris said they didn't like the health constantly draining(one aspect, not the whole game), which honestly I don't enjoy that either.

Just because someone isn't praising the hell out of something, doesn't mean they're putting it down.

hey baja.. where in dallas do you live? >.> i'm at SGP

I'm near Richardson.

It's nice to talk about this stuff... but in the end... all we can do is 'wait and see.' It's better to take the neutral approach in all this don't you think. Sometimes i think all we're doing from all this bickering is making your conscience feel more relaxed and confident in the decision on what system you bought or planning to buy... that is... unless you bought all the systems already in which you don't care what's said in here anyways.

From what I've seen in systems as of late... by the time a system has finally tapped into its true potential... they make another system, so... I think it's gonna be the same for this gen. So I'm guessing by the time ps3 is truly 'ps3' and xbox 360 is 'xbox 360' and the wii is truly the 'wii,' there's probably gonna be ps4, xbox 720, and wii squared... (i dunno, just made up goofy names.... =P). People will stick with the system with their franchise most likely... and hope that the system will prosper.

I don't see my self getting hi def TV... to be honest.. i don't even own a DVD personally... so there's no way i'm getting blu ray... some ppl are just happy with what they already have... (my computer XD).... Good ole PC *kisses monitor* you never let me down... All i gotta do is invest a few hundred every couple of years and you're as good as new ^^

What the fuck are you even talking about?

Also isn't blu-ray losing money because not many blu-ray players (read: PS3s) have sold? Then they too are losing money... poorly. You of course wont understand this because you seem to think technology is perfect as soon as it comes out.

Yes the PS3 is losing billions, although by the Blu-ray becoming the new standard it becomes profitable. HD DVD has dying, hence the money they're pouring down the toilet is going nowhere.

Sony was in an interesting position with the Xbox 360 launching fast to cut the PS2 generation short and HD DVD launching before blu-ray. First off, understand that the royalties of blu-ray winning the format war over hd dvd makes the console wars look like nothing financially. Defeat HD DVD, become the standard and all their PS3 losses are covered.

Making it a standard ensures they win the format war but puts them in a strange position in the console war, as they become more expensive than the systems with DVD players standard.

The task is clear, to make games that both outshine the rival platforms by use of the blu-ray drive, increasing consumer interest, and lower manufacturing cost to lower the price. Both of which seems to be their goal. This will merely speed up their eventual format war victory and place them in a better position to attract 3rd parties so hopefully they can actually be profitable on the PS3 this generation.

They will continue to support the PS3 regardless of profitability however, because they need it for blu-ray. Even if they fail profitability, they still win out overall, consumers still win out overall because they will be supported.

You also seem to miss the point that not every movie is being released onto Blu-ray. I don't even know what you're talking about. Did I say every single movie is being released on blu-ray? Certainly don't recall that. Plenty of movies I llke that are actually out on bluray.

Seriously do you want true high definition? Going to a play will blow your mind with how tripped out you get over movies in high definition. Hell actually going outside should just make your brain melt because of how much you apparently jerk it to your high definition... everything.

You seem to have no interest whatsoever in the video game industry yet you read every word I type as if the conversation we're having about it obligates you to.

For the record: I don't recall referring to Ninja Gaiden Sigma as an "exclusive," only saying it was a great game. I don't recall saying MLB: The Show is an exclusive either other that it's the best baseball game out there, which is true if it's on PS2 or PS3. The rest of that just seems like you were having a seizure while on the keyboard.

So everyone isn't drooling to play the game and you think they're jumping down your throat? God forbid anyone wants to play a different game.

You're being kind of inaccurate here.

You said the only PS3 game that interested you was Ratchet and Clank, thereby saying Heavenly Sword, which was on the list I mentioned, I took it to mean didn't interest you.

So I said I figured any real gamer would be interested in Heavenly Sword, which obviously isn't meant to be taken 100% seriously, because afterall, some gamers will not like same games because their genre no matter how good they are.

The "jumping down my throat" was about how I was being taken so seriously on that issue.

For the record: I don't recall referring to Ninja Gaiden Sigma as an "exclusive," only saying it was a great game. I don't recall saying MLB: The Show is an exclusive either other that it's the best baseball game out there, which is true if it's on PS2 or PS3. Let me refresh for you...

Page 3 of this very same thread.

Just for example...

I've got 4 Exclusives>

Resistance
Motorstorm
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
MLB The Show

K, when I said MLB: The Show 07 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma were exclusives I was being inaccurate. They each have exclusive content and are the only next-gen versions of the game, but there are last gen versions of them out.
