PS3 Robbery Suspect Shot to Death

Ele is in no way like the nazis. Bamdam is thinking on a one-way street and almost any post that he quotes in this thred will begin with "This is all wrong." in some form or another.

This kid getting shot is a horrible mistake i'm guessing? Seriously, if he did steal something, then why try and run when police have your house surrounded? You say the cops scared his dog, so he ran after it to calm him down? That sounds kinda stupid to me...

Yeah because everyone lets their dog run at people knocking on the door...Get a brain.

I should have said killing someone over grand larceny is petty. I know the definition is stealing generally $500 or more.

i never heard that the dog attacked, i thought the cops busting down the door scared the dog.

that's what I read too.. that the cops scared the dog, the dog tried to run away or something and the kid tried to go after the dog or something to that sort.

Even more cowardly. They shoot at a dog who is scared and running away? Just because the guy followed his dog?

maybe the dog was just in cross-fire? either way i'm done. I do feel sorry that he got shot and killed by mistake. R.I.P.

Does it say what type of dog he had? If it was a toy dog then its fucked up.

Article in the OP said:
Strickland’s dog, a German shepherd, also was shot to death.
I think a German Shepherd

Judging by the type of dog, shooting it is justified. If it were a poodle or somthing, no.

Person is suspected of assault and robbery, who takes his time comming to the door, and is seen moving towards them with somthing in his hand, and a large breed of dog comming at them. Now, how much time do you think they had to make a decision? Snap your fingers. about that long.

This is what I was confused about as well.

The article doesn't say how the dog was shot, it only says it happened.

Bamdam says the police broke down the door, which scared his friends dog. His friend then ran to get his dog and both of them were shot.

Maybe you should look into this more, it definently couldn't have happened by the snap of a finger.

If the dog had attacked them, it is then justified. Shooting a dog just because of the type of breed is very ignorant. Also, the media would have more focus on the dog being the main target of aggression, had it actually attacked them.

Marajade, why are you supporting their reasoning? You would have shot them too?

What a joke, seriously. They mistook a video game controller for a gun. I could understand if he held the controller towards them like a gun, but again; the shooting was TOTALLY unjustified.

That type of shooting is what gives police bad reputations.

"Thought it was a controller" Man...Who are they trying to convince, us or themselves?

I think this is a very tragic case, and my sympathy is out to your friend Chris, but, you need to see it from both sides, your friend assaulted another person for a piece of machinary, a game system and possibly very badly injured the other student, for a PS3. He also answered the door with a PS3 controlled, which, does somewhat look like a gun if at the right angle.

The police knock on the door and the kid takes a while to answer, which could be suspicious for all they know he is getting a weapon, so they bust in. When they enter they see a giant dog running at them and a kid scrambling with a black object in his hand.

I don't know.

Edit: I must also agree with some of Elle's views. I would agree that anyone who has murdered just for the thrill or raped someone for fun or whatever, they don't deserve the life they where given and I think they should be executed, or better yet, just disappear.

Except that my friend was not a murderer or a raper so that has nothing to do with this. Elle also thinks robbers or cheaters should be killed, thats the sick part. Im not talking about murderers or rapers, only Elle is, Im not agreeing or disagreeing with them, I disagree however with robbers or cheaters. They dont deserve to be tortured and killed like what Elle wants. Obviously nonw of you are Christians.

Even if a dog is running at you, theres no reason to just open fire....thats so dumb, a dog bite isnt a reason to just start shooting everywhere. not matter how "big" the dog is.

The person they stole the ps3 from was not very badly injured. Also coming to the door with something that "looks" like a gun is no reason to just start shooting everywhere. The cops werent even specifically shooting at him, they just started shooting all in the house...bullets everywhere, almost hitting the other guy that was there too. They just started shooting and obviously there was no retaliation, but instead they decided to continue shooting.

I do remember seeing somewhere that police are authorized to shoot at what looks like to be a gun, I could be wrong.

I also strongly disagree with some of Ell's comments and views, but hey, this is America, freedom of opinion. I do not believe that simple cheaters and petty thiefs should be tortured and murdered horribly like Elle does. I do however think rapist of any kind and certain, unjustifiable (with a beyond excellent reason) should disappear.

I do not care for religion, I am personally agnostic. I think religion is the cause of most of the worlds problems. I don't bash or hate on religious people.

Watch someone get mauled to death by a pit bull or any other large attack-trained dog and say this again. A pit bull, German shephard, rotweiler, doberman pincher, and other similar mandibular-sized breeds can crush a human being's arm bones in a single bite. Not saying they should have shot the dog, but if I were in the situation and a 75-100lb dog is moving in my direction in an aggressive manner I am going to protect myself first and foremost. You say the dog was running away, but you weren't there to witness it firsthand so how do you know? Someone told you I assume. People can lie. The only people who know what really happened are the police and the person who is now deceased. So the leaves only one perspective of the situation.

A) Any dog larger than 60 pounds should be allowed to be shot if found in an aggressive behavior, if preventing the injury of an innocent person ie. police officer.

B) Police had full warrant in breaking his door down.

C) If he was smart, he would've dropped the "controller" in question to stop his dog, since he didn't it can be assumed as something he would want on his person, such as a weapon.

D) It's statistically proven that keeping someone in jail for life is cheaper than killing them in the death penalty. Too much red tape. What we need to do is institute a citizenship revocation system, where based on the crime, we either throw them in jail or even better kick them out of the country and let them live in second world Mexico or third world countries and experience just why they should appreciate the freedoms they're allowed in America.

England did that, now there is Australia. I bet those dumb brits are pissed they live in an icebox while their "criminals" live in a nice sunny climate.

On topic, don't fuck with cops. They are on edge when they go into situations like this. All the training in the world doesn't stop them from being human and making mistakes that cost others their life.

The thing about it is, it is better the kid is dead than the cop. In this scenario it was a ps2 controller, but kicking down some other door and deciding to wait a few seconds to identify the object in the perps hand could end in loss of life for the cops.

I'm no fan of cops, but if I had to chose between a cop and a perps funeral, I'd much rather see the perps.

A) Actually for all of you, his dog wasnt a German Shepard...wherever that info came from is a lie. Dog was nowhere close to 60Ibs. And is wasnt preventing an injury to the police officer, the dog did nothing to the officers.

B) There was no argument about them breaking down the door so why are you saying this?

C) When your door is being broken down and ppl are shouting and your dog is freaking, not everyone really thinks about putting something down because it looks like a gun. If you are panicing you arnt gonna think how you normally do.

D) Lol you think he would be kept in prison for life for stealing a ps3? right. and the death penalty for stealing a ps3? sounds like another sick Elle.

oh so youd much rather have shitty cops out there?

Cop made a split decision. Had it turned out to be a gun, he probably would be the dead one. I don't think a mistake like the one he made would classify him as a shitty cop.

I never once said that, contrary I was defending you vs Ele's point of view... and I don't know about you, but if my door gets smashed in, I drop everything and freeze, to hell with a barking dog.

And you keep defending the dog as if you were there when this happened. I'm beginning to think you're using this thread for false sympathy, because you're going against news articles to defend this, and details such as the breed of dog aren't exactly "open for discussion". You do not mistake a dog smaller than 60 lbs for a german shepard unless you're retarded.

Being that I knew the dog ever since I met Peyton four years ago I think I have more say at to what and how much the dog weighs. Im going against news article about a dog that I have known for over 4 years yes. Believe it or not but news articles can be wrong. Considering the new article sent to the News and Observer that is at the beginning of this was wrong and they had to apologize for it because my school complained.
