PSN Plus(sorry this looks dumb to me)

Let me start out by saying that at first this seemed like a good deal like say Amazon Prime or something. For a pretty small yearly fee you get free games and free dlc but then I read the catch:

If you ever decide to cancel you do not get to keep any of the "free" stuff. This little thing basically killed the idea for me. What's your opinion?

Yea not really interested. As far as I'm concerned, there's just the free benefit of having a few online psn friends I am sure will buy it and getting the free cross chat with them.

To clarify - there is additional "free" stuff you get from PSN Plus that isn't offered through the normal PSN account. You don't get to keep *that* stuff. I took the OP to mean that you couldn't keep your free PSN account and such from that account. That is not the case, and I understand a little more what this means, and I agree with it.

Yes I needed to be more clear. My thing is that you can get PS1 games, dlc and such through plus but if you cancel those things can no longer be used. I thought I could get my back Little Big planet DLC for free butr no...I have to pay forever if I get this....

Stuff you buy would still be yours.

Thanks for the clarification, good point Myrrh. If that was the case it may be a good idea to wait for some good games to come out, download them all then stop paying.

If you buy stuff at a discount you get to keep that and the original PSN stuff(playing online,ETC.) but this really gets me is how Sony touted the service and then shot themselves in the foot by not letting you keep the PSN plus content you download. It's like if I bought a game disk for $50 and it stopped working a year later when I refused to pay the game company another $50...

Well I am a Qore subscriber and plan on renewing my subscription. I also buy a decent amount of content off of PSN so if the discount is fairly good (rumored 20-50% off) and applies to most of what is on the PSN it may be worth it to me to become a Plus member. I plan on waiting a few months and seeing what the service shapes up as.

I'm also hearing that a premium Hulu might be coming to PSN soon. If they roll that into the plus service I'll be even closer to signing on that line.

Kinda but it's dumb to me as you basically get to download PS1 games and such. I don't like this kind of lease and I think you should own any and all digital content(games, DLC). With an MMO you technically own the client software but don't own your character/server side as you pay for an account to lease the server. In this case...well the best way I can put it is that you pay an extra fee just to keep a client which would work on its own even if you stopped paying. Like a PS1 game that needs no servers to work on it's own....

As long as Hulu is free my linux PC works good here as it's hooked up to my TV but for the PS3 it's probably best added as a menu option like the facebook one. The guys behind hulu are debating a subscription fee so we'll see what this means(in terms of the PS3 too)...then again it could mean no more free anime for me...

PSN+ Isn't different games <,< Its different services, like Cross-Chat games, early demos, the Demo+ thing, and other stuff.

Its not required to buy any games on PSN. Its kinda like Live Gold, except way less required.

EDIT: Yes, the games you get for FREE instead of paying, you'll loose if you don't resubscribe to Plus. But they were FREE.

Probably will require you to log in to play them on your PS3. PSP would probably work though~ Until you connected it to your PS3 again or logged into PSN with it.
