Pupusa's return.....

New site looking a little more tempting now, eh Sabs? Haha. Pup, if you read this, please, pass the torch on, if not to me, then to others like me. I have a job in a library and I do practically nothing there. I spend 6 hours a day practically surfing the net. Easily spend 2-3 hours reading posts on this site. If I was admin of this, or another site, I'm sure a lot of the spam/trolls/idiots would be taken care of daily. Vote Taurothar for president, and all of your wildest dreams will come true.

Taurothar I appreciate what you're trying to do allthough I don't necessarily agree with the method, it's nice to see one of you actually taking an active role in trying to fix this community. The sad thing is I can count the number of members that have done this on one hand. Remember my quest to rid the board of oversized avatars/sigs? Do you know how many people tried to help me with it? 1, that's right - 1 out of 3331 members. And I thank Jender so much for at least trying. This is the case with most other issues on the board also.

We all know we're having troll issues so what do people do? Keep bumping their topics to the top of the flameboard instead of letting them get pushed down by the more intelligent posts that the flameboard was made for. If a troll posts in an appropriate topic someone quotes it and the thread de-rails for the next 14 pages.

I see asiamise taking an active effort to moderate herself and others dispite the fact she doesn't actually run the board, I see some friends trying to orchestrate things with me from the back, Taurothar trying to fix the community by moving it, I see the mods taking care of their section but I don't see the other 3,000 of you doing anything. You stand there and wait for someone else to fix it for you, rather than trying to fix it yourself or notifying someone who can fix it. If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.

I've often told people to act as if trolls don't exist, it seems as if 75% of the community ignores them, some others feel the need to argue with them and some less frequent visitors don't understand that they're trolls. And of course there's the people who I guess find them amusing or just out of boredom chat with them. Then some just talk to each other, or to themselves if they're the same person.
If we don't have the ability to ban there are enough younger immature posters who will give them enough attention to keep them coming. It's not preventable because this is a public messageboard and so many have taken the attitude "who cares, it's the flameboard." There's nothing the many can really do about the few.

A flameboard is a flame board... if u take stuff out of there and edit it then its no longer a flame board....

Its not a Flameboard anymore WSM its a Spamboard, thats the problem.

At least it got a big enough problem that he showed up the 5 minutes that he did. Was wondering what it would take to bring him back, why don't he just make Asia mod and leave again? If he don't care what happens here then at least hand it over to someone that does care.

sheez.

The people who argue with trolls; the people who copy their messages and make troll threads go on for 14 pages - these people should be dealt with in the same broad stroke of iron-fisted justice that hopefully eradicates 50% of the flameboard. The trolls are like prostitutes, and the troll-feeders are like "johns". It takes two to tango. Both sides are making the flameboard a mess.

Incase this sort of thing acutally happens, I went ahead and made a replacement forum, incase this one really does die.

I encourage you to register, even if it doesn't go anywhere it's always there for if and when this one takes the dirt nap.

While I appreciate your effort Tymon, I think it's absolutely ridiculous, ricockulous, and ripenisculous that we'd have to move our entire board to a new site due to 2 spammers.

A move wouldn't be caused by two spammers. Rather it is due to the lack of admin control to the forums.

There isn't anyone with the power to grant admin priviledges to a new person?

Don't tell me only the administrator of that specific subforum can grant it. Because that just sounds too dumb, what happens if what's happening now happens?

From my experience the only way to fix a broken site without admin access is to stop going to it. As long as Pup keeps paying the bill for this site, and the name, it is his to do with what he wants. If he wants to ignore it, he can. I am all for fixing this one before a move to a new one, but if it is required of me to do so, I still volunteer to front the bill for hosting/site name fees with hopes of some reimbursement from the community. Sabia has the right attitude though, don't overreact to these idiots, it's what they want. Tymon's temp server thing is nice and all, but I have some ideas for a full revamping of the site overall, and I think many additions would help keep the board clean.

i dont post here all that often but i do come to read it and i really dont like seeing all the crap that goes on here, mainly flameboard i suppose. anyways, i like to see a new place where people actually have control over things like getting rid people who make it a bad place.

its a fuckin flameboard WHO CARES

Keep it on the flameboard troll,

It isnt hard to delete multiple posts on these forums, I would know I run 2 sets of them and need to keep killing spammed and out of control posts. I think maybe Pup needs to hand the power over to someone if he isnt gonna be around, not just for the sake of the flameboard but for the sake of this community.

one post and hes a troll? does that make you one too? and hes right, it is a flame board who the fuck cares its all bullshit

You obviously havent read the rest of his posts :|

lol.... troll in the flameboard maybe but not on other topics sry

I'm not a frequent poster at all. I am however a frequent reader. Honestly, I've gotten afraid to post on QCDN. I'm worried no matter where I post I could get "flamed." I also think perhaps everyone's goal shouldn't necessarily be to see the flaws in others. Perhaps we should reapproach the situations we come across. I may be wrong in these thoughts, but I belive this -could- be a really good community. If everyone wasn't too busy trying to flame someone else for anything they can. Just a thought.

Malchiah.

This thread is like a camp ground for Pupusa, more of which can lead to the omega of QCDN. Who know.

List of ideas for new site:
1. Many new forums, such as one to discuss OTHER MMORPGs instead of them all flowing into general discussion.
2. Possible admin/mod acceptance required to post.
3. Pruning of forums after a certain time period, probably 2-3 months. I, for one, am sick of people digging up 6 month old posts by someone who might have changed their oppinion and using it against them.
4. Deletion of spam/merging of similar threads.
5. Sticky threads for "connection troubles" and related posts.
6. Flameboard will have a "mod" but any visable abuse by that mod will be cause for suspension. The mod will be that in name only, to clean up spam and useless threads, if nothing more than just locking them and letting them fall to the bottom.
7. If things ever get out of hand, weekly forum "Survivor" polls to be run by Cubswoo.
8. A strict policy on posting in the wrong area, flaming outside the flameboard, and other rules needing enforcing.
9. The ability to impeach moderators if they aren't up to snuff, though the process will require my approval.
10. At least 3 people with administrative status. The other two would be chosen from the list of mod applications.

Those are just a quick top 10 of what I can think of, in no order. I would like to be able to increase the overall quality of our community.
