Where is everyone in Quetzalcoatl? No one uses this site anymore? I remember when it was the hot spot? or is FFxi just dead, and no one plays it anymore?
Where do the Quetzalcoatl folks hang out now?

/em hears crickets.
/em looks around.
/em hides under a tree.
/say so quite around here.

All the vets quit and don't come around here anymore really.

It's a mix of old age and the new site being stupid to get to for like a year. People just forgot about Qcdn.

That and there was like no effort put into holding the community together with XIV, and the general failure of XIV to pull vets/players.

Totally because one game is dated and worthless and the other is just worthless. The community focus of these boards being those games; thus making the board dead. Then there's the old "What's the point" factor. No games, barely any chatter, and rarely is there a topic that matters even a little bit. Especially for those who don't take any personal interest in the site, just use it for games.

XI is considered quite old at this point. Some people were around excited about XIV but that dwindled within a month. Plus a lot of us who started playing XI were still in college and moved onto other activities after graduation/life events.

No more drama or attention seekers around either. The flameboard was notorious many years back for even casual browsers.

Now of days, this place is a minor social hangout for a few people. There's more activity in the off topic areas than with the game(s).

Yeah, there was a brief surge of activity when XIV came out, and people were under the mistaken impression that it would be as good as it is pretty.

Needless to say, that did not come to pass.

Ironic given the incredible improvements (in my opinion) that SE has made to FFXI with the release of the Abyssea expansions. And the hope for the future of the game present in the fact that they put the guy in charge of Abyssea in charge of the rest of the game from here on out.

Just the concept of itemization that makes sense was enough to make me go "Huh, I guess I'll keep playing for a while longer".

I blame the shift in focus to FFXIV and FFXIV's subsequent crashing and burning.

I think Reeve synced the forums uptime with FFXIV's popularity/stability/playability

I blame Qcdn dying fully on Reeve. Sculli was a nazi but he kept it alive D:

Alive for himself after purging any modicum of fun.

It's not really a blame situation, save possibly for blaming SE. A game-centric message board is fueled by interest in the game in question, and XI is old while XIV kinda sucks.

Don't worry tho kiddies, I'm still here.

I will say, I really miss when I could log on QCDN during work and see new interesting reads every time I logged in. But its just the normal cycle of things, just a bummer.

I will say this though......

I am loving FFXI right now. It was hard to swallow that almost all the gear I had obtained in the past 6 years was depricated for the most part, but I am loving it.
The only thing that could make it better imo is all the old friends I made in this game come back. I wish they would give it another crack.

Yea, i left during the XIV crazy. Waiting for the game to come in the mail. got a 30day free to play. See what happens during that 30days.
Thanks guys/Ladys.

For FFXIV? FFXIV is free until further notice if I recall correctly. Mainly because the game is so horrible.

For me, the site just doesn't attract me like it used to. I come every now and then just to see how people are doing. I play FFXIV casually but a lot of players have made their own sites for their LSs and we just stay in contact there; XI and XIV alike. FFXIV has alot of shortcomings but its not the total reason for lack of traffic. Either you come here avidly, casually, or not at all. Simple as that.
