LMAO wow.. so whos your boss? someone in the LS?
Ha! I bow to none of those pansies... well... ok, maybe a few. Only like 10 or 11 though.

No, my boss (ex-boss, found a better job about a year ago) has long since quit the game. He only got to level 14 before he got sucked into the gardening scene, where he actually made a handsome load of money (for someone that low of a level).

When he quit, I offered to exchange him a case of beer for his Playonline ID & password... which he accepted. Does that make me a gilbuyer? If so, I think I got screwed... $16 for less than 250k.
lmfao.. no no.. i think you just were being friendly.. plus you didnnt directly use money.. u used beer. but thats cool that he got you into the game. and now here you are king of the pimps. :D

I didn't know about the auction house till about level 10. I had always bought all my equipment from the shops in Port Windurst. Accordingly, I sold all my assorted loot and outdated gear to those same NPC's. Making 4k took forever. In fact, when I discovered that quest that gave 250 gil for a two leaf mandragora bud and a bird feather, I thought gil making would never get easier.

I soloed till level 20 as my whm (my first job), because in my first traditional party in Tahrongi at level 10 or so, somebody was telling me where to stand, not to melee, when to sit, etc. I didn't like it. I mistook the good advice for someone being too bossy. I didn't know that *that* was how XI was played. Till that point, and for 9 levels after, I either played alone, or in small roaming duo's and trios where everyone informally did what they liked. I thought partying was grabbing six people and running around Sarutabaruta/Tahrongi killing everything in sight, like I did on my first week or so.

It took me weeks to figure out what the crystals around certain words meant, in people's text. I also had no idea why some names were blue and others were white. My first thought was that JP players were given blue names, and the NA players were given white. Initial observations confirmed my theory till I was proven wrong later.

oh ya

ok i finally remembered my best noob thing.

One day in LS i was talking to people and suddly a thing came up like "<someone> you ?????? ???? a ????? you ??????? god ???? mother ?????? piece of ????"... well i was getting annoyed that i couldnt understand what the hell he was saying ... so i said "<metalryu> why the hell you censor cuss words... its so unlike you. stop using those damn questions marks"... his reponse "<someone> ... >.> wtf you trippin on..." Me: "<metalryu> you always censor everything.. u uses ??? to do it" Him: "<someone> LMAO... go to main menu and go to config" so i finally figure out i had it on auto censor or something .. wow.. thta was funny

I started on a laptop so all the directions in the manual wouldnt work. I had to change the keyboard settings to compact and it wasnt particularly easy to figure that out. So I stood in the archway of windurst gate with that stupid ? over my head unmoving for something like 3 hrs, trying to figure out how to move. People would poke me or wave or sit next to me, and i would use noob /say but they didnt use compact either.

I've been running ever since then though.. to make up for lost time.
 I think I was the newb that had been playing for all of 1 day that talked to you and helped you figure out how to move

I didn't have too many noob moments, or at least none i can recall or worth mentioning. But I do remember that I used to trade all my silk thread to the quest NPC instead of selling it at the AH. I thought it was good money, 600 gil. Or my first party. I got a tell "Hey, wanna party with us in the maze?" I sent a tell back "Ok, where is it?" I finally get there and we're all ready to go and we wipe on our second fight. I said "this is stupid" and HP'd back to windy. After, I thought parties were dumb and I didn't want to join one ever again. That is, until my LS taught me about them.

I used to think that to skillchain, everyone had to do their weaponskills at the same time.

I used to think that /slap on yourself would sometimes get rid of sleep.

I've heard people in the dunes say "Don't /slap the mob, it will aggro" or my favorite one "Rush the goblin he's about to throw his bomb, it'll make him drop it."

Some people still believe the bomb thign even to Bibiki....funny thing is those same players flame others for believing in other thigns just as rediculous.

Tis always fun to laugh at the 75 permanoob.

I soloed thief to 15 with no sub. NEVER DO THIS.
I quickly learned the healing button though, because I had to use it after every freaking easy prey. And I must have thrown away two dozen beast seals in the process, because found out I could sell those lizard tails to an NPC and I needed inventory room for them and the bird feathers and crystals.

And then I hit my first huge moneymaking scheme. I bought cherries and grapes from the port vendor and resold them on the auction house. I thought I was ROLLING after my first few stacks sold and my thief quadav backplate empire was taking off nicely in my opinion. I had a pair of balance rings, after all. I was hot to trot.

Then 5 levels later I enter Jeuno looking like an utter bum. You used to never see big gear in the home towns, so I thought I was well on my way with my balance rings and whatever poop-brown body piece I had on at the time...until that lower Jeuno screen loaded. Seeing Paladins and red mages in full AF knocked me on my rear.

Then there is the pulling of Aquarius when everyone told me to pull crabs, but I was WAY too old by then to call that anything but WTF pere.

Mmmm. Nooby moments.

I remember when I first started, I got on the wrong server because neither me nor Lazarious knew what a world pass was. So there I am running around trying to find Laz while he was trying to find me. After 20 or so minutes of running around thinking we passed each other, I finally learned the /say command. My very first name was Nimuh.

Nimuh : Can someone help me?
Person : What's wrong?
Nimuh : Can PS2 and PC players play together?
Person : Yes.
Nimuh : I can't find my brother and he's logged on.
Person : Is he on the same server?
Nimuh : There are servers? I think. What's this server?
Person : Seraph
Nimuh : Oh. Thank you.

Then it took me and Laz 2 hours to figure out how to get a worldpass and how Quetzalcoatl was spelled.

I leveled off of the rabbits and worms until I couldn't get exp anymore. I was so scared of Orcs. I didn't kill an orc until I was level 30.

When me and Bluemoons did our Orcish Axe mission (at level 10), we freaked out. Laz had to run back and take us to Ghelsba. I didn't have my expansion installed so it took a while. Then when he told me and blue to cast lot on the axes, we could NOT figure out how. I thought cast lot was fishing so I told him I don't have a fishing pole and don't know where to get one. I never heard him laugh so hard. ; ;

Then for the first 40 levels of me and Blue's career, you probably seen us standing still then suddenly running around in circles and everywhere else a LOT. Well, we kept double clicking our right mouse button too fast and getting that auto run crap and we kept moving our mouse to get it off.

I didn't figure out how to sort inventory until level 30.

Some guy asked me for gil when I was level 10. I gave him all my gil thinking I wouldn't need it.

Lazarious threw away all beastmen's seals until level 40. He didn't know what they were for and told me that holding one made beastmen come after you so I kept them. [I never did what he said. He told me not to be Mithra, so I chose it. He told me not to be WHM, so I chose it, and he told me to be Windurstian so I chose Sandoria.]

My favourite was when Blue seen a level 75. She told me about it and I shouted "I'LL BE LEVEL 100 ON ALL JOBS BEFORE YOU CAN MAKE 1 JOB LEVEL 100". Yea. I was dumb.

Jdogg and Zaken gave me a BloodofLegends linkpearl when I was level 7 on whm. It took me 2 days to figure out how to equip it.

Imaginous took me to Jeuno so I could get my chocobo liscence and start leveling in Qufim. Well, he gave me the greens but once I got my chocobo liscence, I couldn't go to Sandy. I thought I had to pay for a rent-a-room so I freaked out. He also gave me a linkpearl and I think I drove everyone crazy on there saying I was stuck.

My first thing I ever bought in AH was a Holy Breastplate. I had 40k or so and bid all of my gil in hopes I'd get one. I thought it was an actual auction.

Just after I got the BloodofLegends pearl, I was killing rabbits and I seen Jaggedy-Eared Jack. I ran for my life. "Luckily" Jdogg was there to "save" me from it. He didn't get drop, though. >.>

Lazarious thought he was big and tough at level 15 so he decided him and a friend would level on something bigger in La Theine. That "bigger" mob was a ram that owned them. I refused to fight one until I was Level 50 which resulted in me attacked Bloodtear Baldruf and dieing a horrible death.

When I rode my first chocobo, I thought I had to stay on the path or it would run away so I spent way longer getting back and forth places.

When me, Laz, Blue, and Eagle went to Craig of Holla for the first time, he told us to watch out. When I seen I could target the crystal, I asked what it would do if I hit enter. He said it warp me in the craig full of level 200 monsters so don't touch it. Needless to say, I touched it and got my holla crystal.

My first time in Valkurm was hilarious. I'd never been aggroed by anything before so I walked right in front of a bogy and tons of goblins and thought people in costumes that you got at higher levels following me then tried to bitch them out for killing me.

I never knew how to set homepoint. I ended up with my default homepoint until level 32.

I believed everything I heard so when someone was joking about being a protector (saying that's an actual job), I shouted in Jeuno for 2 days for someone to help me get the Protector job unlocked until one of my friends told me there was no such thing.

I put a crystal in my bazaar at a low level and couldn't figure out why I had a bag near my name. I kept asking Lazarious to take it off of my name. He's teased me about that since.

There are sooooooooooooo many more but I'm too lazy to type them all. Me, Blue, and Laz's first 40 levels would of had you laughing so bad. You'd probably still be laughing.

Bah, I have the best noob story ever.

When I first got the game, I disdained the manual. Skimmed it a little, but for the most part I just jumped in feet first. So I'd been leveling my War for a while, and got to level 8 pretty quickly all things considered. My friend Reece came along and said that I was getting to the point where I should consider heading to Valkurm Dunes. To which I replied: "Yeah, but how do you get there without a white mage? I can barely get to Konschtat before I have to head back to the Mog House to heal..."

Yeah, I didn't know how to rest! :D

I'd wondered what all those people kneeling down were doing, cuz when I typed /kneel, I just got right back up again...

LMAO... that was great^^ i cried laughing...

All I can say is....daaaaaaaammmmnnn. I bow to your noobness.

It took me fifteen minutes to learn how to move. <_<;

Zhao was there with me & I kept pushing buttons & yelling: "HOW DO I MOVE! WHAT BUTTON DO I PUSH!?" Needless to say, I didn't read the manual.

I tossed all my beastmen seals until around level 40 (man, did I feel like an idiot).

I had a level 9 subjob until 30+. <_>

Thankfully I had a met Landiien & the rest of VanaAvalanche that helped me become un-noobish very, very fast.

"Run around the monster, you wont get hit that much"

Christ, I still see people doing this at my level when things start getting desperate...

"running around the monster."

I forgot about that, I used to watch the mob's animation and if it started
to attack then I'd jink left-and-right a bit to make it miss.

Later on, someone asked why I do that so I told them. Then they said
"Man, you better stop that before a THF yells at you for moving around."

Heh.
