But they're so tasty.

If I'm close to leveling and need to go "now" I always check with the party's TNLs and make a call based on current xp/hr whose level would be a good note to end on... if anyone is within 1-2k I try to make an exception and stay for their level, anyone within 500-1000 exp of that maybe too if it's multiples... but a line has to be drawn somewhere.

"The line must be drawn HERE! This far, NO FURTHER!" D=

I rather like all JP pts. You don't hear as much as the bitching and drama from them as you do NA's. And if you do you cant understand it at all. I can speak a little Japanese and I hardly ever get turned down from inviting a JP player and I usually get a lot of JPpt invites. Respect to the Japanese is a key factor. Show that you have respect for them as a person. Don't jump on the bandwagon and hate them"OMG0rz he JP he thinks he 1337!!!!" that shits fucked up.
I had a Japanese brd who pulled for my pt in cape terrigan, he did great only one mistake. he kept saying "{Ninja} you are very {Good Job!}" between fights now and then. I never thought of it as anything, that is until i see him in jeuno and he waves at me. I see him decked out in god and sea gear, his main job is 75 NIN. He now asks me to PT alot. I came into the pt showing I was trying to learn some Japanese and they all likes that, I tried to communicate a little bit now and then. He seemed to enjoy it, and laughed everytime i screwed up and said something stupid or mispelled. Then he'd /tell me the spelling. Anyways the moral of the story is 90% of JP pts i join last 2-2.5 hours and disband. Usually in that time you'll get 12-14k xp easy.

I like to make pts along that standard pt for 2-2.5 hours, at the 1.5 hour mark tell the pt that its disbanding in 1.5 hours and that's that no argueing.

I mostly agree with Winklewil...force DCing for ANY reason without notifying the party is simply cowardly, and one of the worst things you could do to your party. Hell, even disbanding without notice and casually walking/warping away at least tells them you're gone for good so they won't waste time seeing if you return.

One thing I heavily disagree with, though, is the view that the only JP that party with NA are ones that're "outcast" and couldn't party with other JP nomatter what, because their name is posted on some big black-and-silver wall of eternal damnation. (So THATS where you go when you pull a link.). I'm sorry but not all JP view NA as some puddlescum last resort at partying...alot may, but all, hell no. You or someone around you must be screwing up something awful if this is the kindof thing you're seeing...

JPs are often too slow, usually the member dragging our XP per hour down. Every now and then, I get some talkative ones, and those guys are always great. Attitude tells me alot about people, and JPs that really want to XP and will take the invite, and try to communicate are always welcome and always a fine addition to a PT.

I have never once had a bad xp/hour ratio with JPs that are willing to use the auto-translator and like to play with emotes and just generally have fun. Most of my sub 5k/hour PTs have been ones where I was the only NA. It's been a long time since release, at somepoint, they need to acknowledge we know our shit too.

On an amusing note, and not something I can substantiate with any proof... I had a friend who played RFonline (or whatever its called) and he feels that it actually the Europeans that give NAs a bad name most of the time. The characters look the same so they associate them with us, but according to him they were far more annoying/rude than any actual north american he had run into.
[Not saying Euros suck, just thought it was funny when I heard it.]

Party-play is time-intensive, and it is not for those that may have to up and go at a moment's notice. People with ambiguous schedules like that get huffy when I say this, but it's true. Solid blocks of free time really are something that you've got to have to play most MMORPGs; at least, it's something you should have in order to justify inflicting yourself on a party within the game.

If you've only got two hours before you've got to go to work, and you know it'll take one hour alone to find and start up a party, DON'T put your flag up, and certainly don't even DREAM of trying to start a party. Joining a party with an hour to go is bad, but starting one under such circumstances is much worse. If you have limitted time to play, then fine: craft, solo on some job that can handle it, whatever you want ... a party is going to have to wait, however, until you know you've got a good block of a few hours to invest. The infamous 45-minute disband is simply one of the most obnoxious things one can do.

So, no ... your parents forcing you off the computer isn't really a valid reason. You very much knew that you didn't have a whole lot of time to devote in the first place. It's a bit more understandable than simply deciding you want to pop in the sixth season of The Simpsons on DVD, but it's still not exactly kosher. Situations that call for ambulances or police: THOSE are valid reasons for the random disband.

I may be asking for too much here, based simply on what I myself do, but it's the truth: I don't dream of looking for a party unless I know I've got the time for it. How badly I want to level generally comes in second place as a consideration. I really wish more people would think this way. T_T

Actually, I don't know about anyone else so I won't speak for them about this, but when I start a party, it's for the sole reason of so "I can level". True Strike about "If you've only got two hours before you've got to go to work, and you know it'll take one hour alone to find and start up a party, DON'T put your flag up, and certainly don't even DREAM of trying to start a party." I couldn't agree more.

However, on the note of "your parents forcing you off the computer isn't really a valid reason. You very much knew that you didn't have a whole lot of time to devote in the first place." I will disagree. Parents are very fickle about such things, I'm sure you know. Many don't take too well to hearing a "hey, yeah" when they are calling you from downstairs, and if one does not give a truly VALID response to them, then yeah, they kick your narrow little butt off the compy. And honestly, who can blame them? It's not like YOU'RE paying for the Inet connection. It's Dad's to do with as he pleases. Anyhow, I digress.

Things come up. People get hungry, and they say "hey, lets go get something to eat" and you can't really justify saying "aw mom/dad I want to level, can't we do it later?"...because that'll get one kicked off for good in most cases. So seriously please think about all the circumstances before you state you won't accept X reason as a valid excuse. You just never know...

In reference to this player: Queenandariel

When I was partying with him/her in Yhoat, she would go afk every other fight. Queenandariel did this at least 3 times without saying anything to anyone. All I would see if her just standing there without engaging the MOB. I said something in /party, but surprisingly no one really cared or noticed. I probably wouldn't join another party with this person again.

I was in party with Gideon that night and I can attest to the fact that yes, Queenandariel did go AFK many times unexpectedly.

Yes its me Queenandariel here to tell these nerds who r talking SH*T about..... one thing is that the only reason i disband was cuz the whole party argeed on it cuz it was late and i told evenone they could join the new party but they had to wisper me... and the reason i was pulling as a monk was because the nin didnt want to and eveyone else in the party was lazy. So make sure u got ur fu*king stories right befor u start talking sh*t u BIT*H

Ya about the AFK thing it was because i have a kid to take care of and its kinda hard to tell everyone afk every time and i had /follow on so i was still was attacking the mob

/p <Away> <Short Time>

Not really that difficult or time consuming is it?

I know the person you're referring to. They were spamming shout for someone to cast protect on them in S. Sandy a while back. Twas extremely annoying so I cast it on them, but they kept spamming the shout channel.

-_-

My condolences for having to party with them.

I should learn to read the entire thread before replying.

Hey i do this from time to time. Dont see much wrong with it cus there is a simple solution that some just dont seem to remember.

GET A REPLACEMENT!

Every time i have to leave if im close to lvling i say something like "I have to go after i lvl, do you all plan on staying much longer. Ill get a replacement if you want to keep going"

All this is done atleast 30 min in advance. This way if they want to stay longer, i get somone to take over, and they can keep going. If some where gona leave anyway, i dont have to call for a replacement and that way i dont piss somone of for calling em out here for only 2 min of exp.

Granted its not full proof but it usually works out nicely ^^

Queenandariel, I could totally understand about the "having a kid part" since you can't leave them alone for extended periods of time, but it still would be courteous if you mention you had to go /afk. Plus, /follow does not engage the MOB, just makes you follow it.
