I've heard about people breaking stuff by launching their wiimotes when playing games. TV's, windows, walls, the wiimotes themselves, pretty much anything in the room they play in. There's even some videos on the internet of people doing it but from the looks of things, they're not wearing the lanyard and are swinging as hard as they can. There's also some people reporting that their lanyards are flimsy or breaking, so my question is this: has anyone had any problems with throwing their wiimotes accidentally?

I've been playing mine a lot since I got it, I've had to change the batteries on the wiimotes a few days ago, will have to change them again soon; but I've never had the wiimote slip on me at all, let alone go flying across the room. I'm curious if the people who are breaking stuff are just retarded, are doing it deliberately just to make some bad press for the system, or if there is a real problem that I happened to luck out of. Has anyone had any problems with their lanyards breaking or the wiimote slipping out of their hands?

I'm inclined to believe it's either they're idiots or it's intentional, since most of the reports are people who were not wearing the lanyard; despite that when you load a game there is a screen telling you to put the lanyard on before you play.

Once, while playing the Wii Tennis game, I swung a mighty backswing and because I didn't have the wrist strap on, my wiimote went flying into a giant Bruce Willis cutout that sits in our livingroom, watching our stuff.

Luckily my wiimote and my Willis were both unharmed, and now I wear teh strap for everything except bowling. I could see the thin string breaking, but I think it would take a bit of effort before it just snapped.

There's your answer right there. People are just stupid, and when bad things happen due to actions of stupid people... well, I have only one word to describe that. Justice. There's a reason for the strap and if they don't wear it, then they're on their own. The only problem I've had with them is while playing bowling with my friends my wiimote would power off and I'd have to reconnect. However, once I flipped the batteries around everything started working perfectly again.

bajaratt get rechargeable batteries they will save you alot of money.

I had a would've been accident if not for the strap. I lost control of the controller during a good tennis swing and the strap saved the day.

Where'd you pick up your Wii Jag? Middletown? lol

Tallman part of suffern at the walmart. I work across the street at my Dad's deli "Mr Kold Kuts". I went with 2 coworkers. Camped from midnight to 7am to be 12/20 to get one.

Interesting story. o.o;; I blew two goats, molested a camel and sold my ugly sister into prostitution. That got me 4 wiimotes and 4 nunchuks; a $240 value. Then after selling a testicle on the black market I got my wii. It was so totally worth it.

Pics or it didn't happen.

yeah, Ive been in a lot of hours already, switched batteries twice, (used the packaged batteries + two rechargables) and its on the second set of rechargables at the moment.

Not once has the wii remote fell out of my hands.

I also dont wear the strap. this is a hazard. Why? lol, I asked my mom to come and try Wii Tennis, and she said no, she wanted to watch. So, I let her watch a couple rounds, but near the beginning, I swung and almost slapped her with the strap lol. But I didnt...

She began to play it afterwards, and liked it though. Cool, considering my mom has not touched a video game since Super Mario World on the SNES

I've never had any problems. I've even let very young children play Wii Sports and they never threw it either.

you try to wear the strap. Have you ever had issues with these attempts? And have you ever succeeded at doing so?

You would have to really fail at life to throw your wiimote. It's pretty safe to say that most of the pics you see on sites are either intentional or the result of people who sweat abnormally high amounts, have zero coordination, are really drunk, or any combination of the above.
