Quetzalcoatl, my 2 cents!

It's not true, it's a generalisation. There is a fair bit of truth in this specific case though. I can't think of another reason why the Asian Shells seem, in general, to work a lot better together as a shell to achieve goals. The question of individauls vs team approach maybe has some merit.

A lot has been said here about NA Shells working together to get stuff done. I'd put it forward that a lot of NA Shells have trouble working together as a unit. Individual goals seem to get in the way of the group working together as a team. Until a shell is unified in it's goals, it's going to struggle to achieve.

It makes me proud to be an NA asian.

I'm sick of people comparing Quetzel NA endgame to JP endgame or other server endgame.

1) Different servers are imcomparable. Maybe 3 kings are easier to get? Well then maybe 3 king gear doesn't have the same value as it does here?

2) I'm not Japanese. I don't want to be Japanese. I wasn't born in Tokyo, I was born in New Jersey, and I'm quite happy with the AMERICAN(no offense to the weirdos up north) mentallity. I'm quite happy that I can play the game with ME in mind not the group. If I wanted to play with the group in mind I could go to Russie, asshole!

Now I don't have any hate for the Japanese, my closest friend on FF and the only reason i'm still here is someone from Japan. But then she doesn't hang out with me because I make weird faces and try and do my best to act like all the Japanese people she knows.

America is the greatest country on this place(sorry to anyone from less great countries reading this, you will be cool as us one day if you eat enough beef jerky). If we fall behind the Japanese in economics, education or in an online video game, it's because they try 10 times harder than us and fuck it then let them have it. Doesn't make them greater, it just means they want it more and let them have it. I'm sure if all of us dropped out of class or quit our jobs and played FF and nothing else, we could own them. But that was their path not ours.

Since I started end-game I wanted NA LSes to work together, for once try to do something for the good of someone else instead of just thinking about you big fat ego all day long. Theres no wonder if areas get over-crowded at times if people don't communicate. Ask the other LS when they are doing certain events and scheduel it so that your not there at the same time or even better, merge with their LS. Ofcourse no LS leader wants to merge with another LS because they are afraid to lose their respect and maybe their status as leader and god forbid that happend, I mean they could lose their power to kick someone and influence everyone that person suck because he did this and that when in fact all he did was to talk with his girlfriend which by the way he is also afraid to lose because deep inside he knows that the only reason she is there is because he owns an LS. Even if there were a good leader out there somewhere who would agree in merging his LS with someone else it would still end up with a linkshell with a leader refusing to leave his post because he is a greedy bastard and then in the end the merged "LSes" would have the least fitting leader anyway.

The same comes to normal players, they had a fight with someone 2 years ago because he got Emperor Hairpin after only camping for 3 weeks while you are there on your 1st week but because you fell asleep and it spawned right in front of you, you claim that he was yours and the drop aswell. Now they bring this to the LS, fearing that the other player is going to do something against you you make sure to strike first by telling everyone when hes not around what an asshole he is for PKing you at Valkurm Dunes and then stealing Emp thus getting drop which clearly wasn't the cause in the first place. When the other player return it starts by hes getting kicked all furious of that LS leader for listening to such a nuthead he now decides to make an even better LS where no one from the old LS are allowed in unless they disbanded together. The only problem is that there are no people left to recruit so he got to recruit people level 50 and above but he doesn't mind because they will grow strong soon enough. Sure they do but by that time they have left a long time ago because they get spoiled of people helping them all the time and when no one can help anymore, they leave.

Basicly all I wanted to say is, hurray for compassion and faith in your co-players which brought us this far. And by compassion and faith I mean greed and hatred and by far I mean being roughly 6months behind all other servers.

sorry I'm very new on this board and not good at English..
If I made a mistake,delete this post.

What happened to Maseki? I met him only once, but he and his friend helped us,(two JP taru)to fight a NM and helped my friend get the precious (ex/rare)item.

I'm worrying..

Maseki quit a few months ago and NotoriousHunters disbanded.

Thank you,Bajaratt.
Sad thing I cannot meet him in FFXI anymore,
But /cheer for his RL life.

(I took a word "R.I.P" too serious,so now I feel relieved.)

(Go on the discussion,please.thank you.)

To me, endgame is flawed. You do the same endgame activities to improve your character's gear to... do more endgame activities. Run Dynamis to get AF2 so you can get 5 more 1coins next run. Pop Kirin so you can kill Kirin faster. And if you're not doing that, you're using it to merit (to make meripo parties better) or you're sitting in Jeuno with your Osode and 3 king drops.

There'd be a lot more incentive to be in an endgame shell if the benefits of endgame gear didn't all but vanish if you want to do anything other than endgame.

I agree with this completely. Although its fun to have great gear, and feel like you've accomplished something by just wearing it...it does get old.

I think what makes a lot of people prefer games like WoW, is the fact that they are constantly adding some actually interesting content. Now this isnt to say that I prefer wow to ffxi, because I quit ffxi for wow, and was back within a month.

I think ffxi just needs some more variety. It may not be reasonable to ask for so much variety...but ill do it anyways. I dont think end-game players should be stuck in the same cycle of events if they don't want to be. Sure..its fine to do dynamis for a full straight year if you choose to do so, and if you really want that fully upgraded relic weapon, but honestly...lately ive been seeing a lot of players go for the relic weapon because they have nothing better to do.

For anyone who has played wow (this wont make sense otherwise), i think the idea of instances and such was very effective. This made it so they didnt have to add much content at a time, but could add a few cool instances that were very challenging and could keep end-game players occupied for a while until something new and exciting came out again.

I dont have any answers for how to improve ffxi, and honestly I dont think anything ive just said matters, but i just figured that id agree with the statement above. I see how we are all caught in a cycle to get better items to simply do the same things over again, but maybe a little faster or more effectively.

I, however, wish this wasnt the case (obviously lol).

I also had a question:
have any of you ever played any game which had forums like these, where people had such drawn out discussions about humanity and such? I dont mean this as a joke..i just dont think ive ever seen a gaming community who operated and thought like this lol...

About 4-5 months ago i was ban, for which of you all think for speedhacking as Perigrine said on earlier locked posts, even though i never got in trouble for such a thing. I dont know why Peregrine attack OH like he did maybe he was in a fight w/ some1 in OH but im not sure, im not going to assume anything because i dont know, i wish he did the same because now everybody that read that posts thinks i got both suspended and ban for speedhacking. But not trying to start an arguement, just never got a chance to defend myself before. Anyways after i got ban, not for speedhacking, I played other mmorpg's inclueding WoW. After doing endgame in at least 3 mmorpgs, you see how each game is flawed in every aspect. Yes in FFXI it seems like NA is in it all for greed and just to get gear while JP LS's work together, and each one of them are more dedicated. However, in my experience, in all of the mmorpg's endgame that ive played, there is gear to be recieved, and in every case, there are people who are in it just for that, but also there are people just for the accomplishment of downing a big boss, or defeating a very difficult mission. In any game where there are items, like in ffxi how there are multiple ways to get endgame gear, there will always be the people who are in it for greed, and others who have just as much as a good time if not better even when they do not get anything at all out of it, in ffxi not even the title for killing tiamat or w/e. From my experience ffxi has the best mmorpg endgame, and overall game structure from the games i have played. It seems rediculous how NA is always belittled by themselves comparing them to JP. Previous posts say that JP work more as a team and strive on getting their goal accomplished while NA only wants gear. Even if that was entirely true, WoW is almost all gear based endgame. Im not trying to compare and contrast other mmorpgs from FFXI, but having played others makes you realize that there are issues in all endgame. The was some people posted before me, they make it seem like kaizen and JP linkshells are the only ones getting anything accomplished, where that is not true at all. The people who are in endgame for gear, get their gear, and their goal is complete. The people who are in endgame to beat ZM, COP, and now ToA missions, well, they get their things done as well. My point is you should not compare or complain about how little people are killing wryms or how every1 is in it for gear. You should not compare a group of people who have entirely different goals. Some of you are trying to compare people who want all god gear to people who are trying to beat CoP and down JoL and whatnot. It just makes no sense. Overall it is obvious that there are indeed flaws in ffxi endgame as was said before me, but it is like that in every mmorpg endgame. You just have to find a group of people who are working towards the same goal as you and want to get the same things accomplished. If you want to beat CoP or something, dont get with a sky LS or HNM LS and then complain about the endgame. Anyways, see you in game as Shapiro.

I see what your saying. America is usually a generalization for the United States. But America itself is a grouping of countries. (Hence North and South AMERICA). U.S.A is a country consisting of states.

This is an endgame topic.

No person under 30 years can be a good leader. Because they lack the experience and patience to run a group. That's almost 98% of the users in Quetzalcoatl. Kids can't lead kids.

Kids want everything and when they can't get it they throw a tantrum...

Don't forget that this is a game an it's played by a high % of kids/young ppl. To all those young leaders, take this counsel from a player that is a parent also:

Let the player develop sense of being optimistic. There is always another day to win instead of feeling 'I Lost' Give your own example and recollect your own n00b days. Narrate a few of your ups n downs, twists n turns and talk to the player, how you faced odd situations and embarrassments.

Failure is never final, success is never ending - Build spirit in the player and teach him the first steps to face challenges in end-game. Defeat is only a challenge. Talk to them to build a positive sense of identity. Who I am? Why I failed? Is my attitude okay? And the realisation comes through when the player is helped to understand ownself, own weak points. He should be disciplined to know and act what is right - what is wrong behaviour. This self realisation makes the player a well balanced mind and disciplined in his behaviour during times of his frustration.

Make the player more tolerant. Those who learn to cope with bad times and its this time when values of tolerance is more necessary for them to divert their minds to shrug off the hatred. An emotional trauma needs much more care than a dropped Ridill. Treat him nice instead of being angry or saying harsh words. Words break the heart more, so let not the anxiety anxiousness add fuel to fire and keep the cool, calm n composed self to turn the situation normal. Time heals.

I've done all this while organizing COP missions, and I'm only 27, lol. But I agree, I see this even in some companies I work for, you do good, and nothing is said, like you were SUPPOSED to do good, and if you do bad, you are made to feel like shit. I always try to remind everyone, a loss is simply a learning tool. It helps you see whats wrong in either you own playing, someone else's, or in the case of COP 2-5, whats wrong with the plan itself.

How about the time and effort to fight things that they have never fought before? I can give a shit about drops or items or gear or whatever. Give me some badass mobs to fight that aren't the same things over and over. Isn't that incentive enough to camp HNMs or go fight Jailers. Isn't that the incentive for new people in sky to fight Gods and Kirin?
I refuse to believe that everyone is in it just to obtain gear. Gear is nice to aid you in killing these things but this is still a videogame and regardless of what treasure the mob drops I want to kill every freaking monster in this game and am pretty damn close save for Wyrms and Sea shit.
Anyone want a ninja to go kill something just look me up, I am only in it for the kill - this is Foomania!

When I first joined NH, yes this was how I felt, but after a while, you tend to get bored when the strategies get more efficient. Fighting new nms is fun, but going through the same fight over and over and over, there has to be some other reason for it at that point, lol.

sorry but this statement is BS.

Yea that statement is total BS. LS leaders need to spend a lot of time to organize events. I used to work part time and I had just enough free-time to camp kings, organize bcnm/ksnms, and camp Rogberry for 2/3 of my free time.

Most people 30 years+ have full time jobs. Which (usually) is too time consuming to lead a linkshell.

Anyone can try to be a leader, but no young man/woman can be one. Because, they lack the EXPERIENCE to base their decitions with. I said 30 and that is still considered young (just ask your parents or grandparents). The content of my post can be used in RL and it will still retain the same message.

Show my post to your parents, either as a print out or on screen and tell me what they think. While telling them how the majority of our server's LSs work. They will say I'm right.

People that see this and are under 30 will feel singled out. But, If you can lead with JUSTICE and PATIENCE at the same time, then you are in a very special group of players. Those special people that offer help instead of looking the other way. That give words of hope to people that have given up. In a server plagued with greed and drama we certainly need you!

Maybe I made a bold statement with the age thing, but that doesn't change the message. ^^
