anyone interested in working on a quetzalcoatl webpage? ..ive been making a page in flash and have nothign to do with it.. so far just have the basic layout but thats where any webpage begins.. anyone care to help? msg me on yahoo at [email protected] or email at the same address.. i also have AIM at Desire Mithra.. anyhow let me know if you are interested in helping.. (it wouldnt be hard to make qcdn a successful page since it already has a rather large community)..

You could make it a biast news section for Quetz.

i'd like there to be an updateable news section (for daily news~duh, lol) and maybe let ppl post personal pictures (1 per person of course, so we know who were playing with :wink: ) maybe add some fan art section, maybe downloadables recommended by ppl on quetz.. um.. iono just basically the run-of-the-mill-fan-site..

wouldnt it be nice to have an actual site dedicated to our server? in flash..oooo lol.. anyhow im having fun designing it so.. even if it doesnt go up im ejoying myself..

but.. you guys gotta give me ideas for what you want.. and im not an expert at flash or html or making webpages for that matter.. so if i cant do something.. sorry lol..

p.s. Michail.. i believe most of the ppl here have made their signature pictures.. lol.. just takes a little time.. and photoshop helps too lol..

From what you want the site to do, I'd recommend using regular html with a PHP+MySQL backend. Flash is good for banners, logos, and even navigation if you like, but the site would be a sinch in good ol' vanilla html. If you need help on the actual coding, shoot me an email. I do this for a living. I don't have time to work on this site, but I will be happy to help you through anything you get stuck on.

i might make a "non flash" one but that'd take alot more work lol.. i dont want to make the main one in HTML because i want to practice flash.. gotta do something in it to get better at it right? its just for practice.. lol.. besides i dont like HTML i view it as an outdate language.. and flash looks nicer, flows smoother, longer loading but most ppl now-a-days are on dsl or higher.. so its not a biggy.. also if you add in loading screens that draw attention then ppl wont see it as such a bad thing..

as far as it being http://nibquetzalcoatl.tripod.com, thats only temporary.. its an example of what i have so far.. (maybe someone here can host me? didnt think so :( ) but once the site is getting closer to completion im going to change it.. personally.. for free sub-domains.. i like port5 (www.port5.com).. no popups, no adds, no banners, and FTP accessable.. however it doesnt let you use perl.. but with flash you dont need that.. anything you can do in perl, someone can do better and smoother in flash.. :wink:

p.s. no one mentioned anything about the site.. do you like it? hate it? is the coloring fine? design fine? hello? anyone out there...

The web is built on html. This site is html, and about 90% of the internet is html, but I'm in a good mood so I'll let you live and learn. :P

If you're just wanting to practice flash, then go with it. The main reasons for using html vs flash is mainly speed, accessibility, search engine optimization, etc, but, since this is mainly just a hobby site for learning flash it's really no biggie.

There's really not much to say about the initial template. The colorscheme seems ok. As long as your eyes don't bleed trying to read then there's nothing to worry about.

You've really got a lot to learn though. But that's ok. Flash and Perl serve two different purposes. Maybe you were referring to ActionScript?

HTML is outdated lol.. so is java.. *dodges the rappid amounts of slaps from various people*

the internet was built on HTML because thats what was available at the time.. often better things come along and replace what once was the most popular in that catigory.. eventually the majority of webpages wont be built with HTML.. though i cant say if they'll be replaced by flash or some other product that has yet to surface on the internet.. but for now.. flash is a good thing for me to bet on and take the time to learn..

HTML will, in my opinion, more or less always exist. It won't always remain the same. It'll be replaced or evolve into other XML technologies. SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is one of these technologies that will likely push the web.

You'll always need programming languages. Flash itself isn't a programming language, but it does use ActionScript. Perl most definitely is outdated, but many people still use it because that's what's proven most useful to them. I tend to lean more towards PHP, but Java developers could rip most PHP developers a new @$$hole any day of the week. I wouldn't say any of these technologies are really outdated as companies still pay Java developers big salaries every year. In a perfect world, every developer would be using RUBY! :P

Anyway, nothing is outdated until a) people completely stop using it or b) the majority of the people who were using it are now using something better.

Anyway... (I like these kinds of talks. Sorry for going off-topic)

sadly this isnt a quetz website, just a forum. There is a difference.
a site would be awesome, and i can help. I used to have my own website company and was paid to do sites for local bands and such. Would be nice to have a quetz web page,
with front page news
and a personal bio for any member that wants one would be cool too!
