So, when can I expect darsh's banning. The fruits of your labor are already showing.
 
I am afraid I do not follow? I have spoken with Darsha/StanDarsh and he seems like a very reasonable guy. Talk to Reeve man, not sure what else I can say to you in order for you to understand.

Soooooo, we just established that he's broken the harrasment/trolling rule, and we know what he'd posted.

So aperantly you can break the rules if you're a "reasonable guy?"

And that the 5th time in 2 days i've seen mods use the "Talk to Reeve" line. Decided to fork your responsibilities over to him when they're inconvenient?

Seriously, I am really getting agitated now by this constant crap. I talked to Reeve. Reeve does not want filtered words. Reeve does not want slurs against the rules. Seriously, it is that poignant. If Stan is in fact repeatedly using the term, I can slap him with trolling, but if that is not the case, then just stop. Stop this stupid pursuit of forum upheaval. It isn't a trumped up issue, but for Christ sake, the tension over the issue you'd think Jesus came back.

No, being reasonable does not gain you favor in my eyes, at least not in the sense I will suddenly ignore rule breaking. It may garner a level of respect, being reasonable and all. It is something that seems to be in severe lack of supply around here.

These one liners really are ultimately failing. Spell it out, apparently I have missed something and between the posts you two are making, Marajade and Jamal, I feel like I have missed the life of the party.

Padawan, you have been taught well. I find the difference to lie in the fact that I am not arguing a position comparitive to yourself. I posted, respectably I think, in Jamal's leaving thread, while it was on Good Times.

I knew eventually it would make it to the Flameboard, and could have done it myself, but with current buzz -- I did not. I figured I could wait for it to gain flame material before doing as you and Rappa suggest, moving the topic to the Flameboard vs handing out infractions. Miros moved it to the flameboard, proactively, as the board cries for when things go awry, but screams at when it is displeased.

The consistency argument goes both ways. The moderators can be consistent when the board calls for, and acts in, consistent means.

There's the issue. He decided that he figured that it could devolve into a flame war, simply on the basis that it was A) Jamal, and B) involving the current issues on the board. In his effort to figure out what users wanted, he jumped from one extreme to the other. There IS a middle ground, and I've pointed to it many times over the past few days.

As someone who's been posting for 4+ years, its fairly easy to see where the line between flaming, flamebaiting, and just plain arguments. But that might just be because I basically helped write the bloody book on flaming here.
 
blah, I just lost a huge post... was really well formatted too.

Essentially, if I would have left the thread there, for discussion, goodbyes, and what not... I would have been breaking rules. That is what I decided to do though, since I figured someone down the line would end up getting the thread onto the flameboard via posting.

There is no board here for that post, and the fact Jamal put it in "Good Times" and the ultimatum-undertone to his post, just left a sour taste in my mouth. I once more, chose to ignore it, and still posted respectably -- hoping others would follow suit.

Too bad really, I chose to ignore the rules, and Miros is the one enforcing the rules. Miros is the one catching the heat.
 
See I considered RL sinks in, but the thread would make obscurely no sense in that forum. Let alone the fact that if it was I that procurred the move, someone would still try to provoke a controversy of the matter.

Frankly I'm glad the post was moved. It is giving me a chance to view reactions by members and I can now evaluate what measures we should be taking in the future.

There's no such thing as bad critisism!
