Hi all
While showing Rappa's "Good Times" thread to a friend of mine here at work, he suggested an RMT countermeasure that was so simple, I couldn't believe that it had never occurred to me.
Normally, that's one of the leading indicators of a genius idea. Here it is:
Make proven RMT accounts permanently PVP.
As I understand it, GMs can currently ban accounts, a temporary setback at best as the character files can just be transferred to a new comp with shiny, new software and a new account ID. This would be different. This would be making a change to the actual data contained in those files, making that character, in essence, always appear as a targettable mob, while not necessarily allowing them the chance to attack others.
I don't know if that would actually be possible, but it is nonetheless the funniest and simplest idea I'd heard in a long time, since it would allow GMs to weigh the evidence, make a decision, and then just let us police ourselves.
Even if it's not possible, a guy can dream, can't he?
