R.I.P. Guitar hero (2005-2008)

If some metrosexual singer popped up behind me, I'd fucking pop him in the face.
That shit's not normal.

I sent a "get well soon" card when I heard GH was sick (around the time GH3 came out), but this news saddens me.

Kotaku, King of electronic gaming rumors, throws in their 2 cents and their sheep come running in.

The way i see it, this "Guitar Hero on Tour" for the DS is very innovative, and what it does by far surpasses it's tasteless advertising campaign. (Personally i found it pretty funny)

I think Nintendo was attempting to tap into their 80's advertising success by going back to using such a voice to explain how the game works.

I think they managed to show us what Guitar Hero on Tour can do, and we can probably expect it to play some nice tunes.

I don't doubt the game handles well, but that video was just ridiculous.
And I don't think Nintendo has a hand in this, mostly Activision~

That video was real? Oh the shame D:

Despite any difficulties Anttaru and I have had, I completely agree with him on this.

If anyone believes that Nintendo, Activision, or even Harmonix take themselves seriously when creating these games (maybe Harmonix does now with Rock Band), I have news to the contrary.

I love the tongue-in-cheek approach, and the only way that they could have made the advertisement any better would be by including the band Limozeen instead of the Scott Weiland lookalike.

And, Kotaku=lulz.

I love rock band. screw guitar hero. I CAN SINGZ!

Just wait for Rock Hero.
I mean Guitar Hero 4.
They added a pad :V
SO ORIGINALZ

Yelling Rock Out is a pretty huge turn off, because you are supposed to be able to play handheld games anywhere, but its nice they let you just hit a button. The 3 attacks they showed were pretty cool too, and used the features of the DS well.

It also looks like it will have a decent set list from the little snipet of songs you can see.

The game looks fine, honestly. The commercial is what fucking blows my mind...

Can yell anything IIRC not just Rock Out.

To everyone that sees this and/or GH4 as the "death of guitar hero", you're all retarded.

More fuel for the fire...

The next artist to get top billing in the Guitar Hero franchise is Metallica, as Wedbush Morgan analyst Edward Woo uncovered the fiscal 2009 release of Guitar Hero: Metallica in a recent filling with the SEC. Said to ship by March 31 of '09—the end of Activision's financial year—it appears that the metal outfit will get Guitar Hero: Aerosmith style treatment with a heavy dose of heavy rock. Metallica's "One" was already featured in Guitar Hero III, with additional tracks already available on Rock Band.

We were expecting to hear that Van Halen was the next group to be so prominently featured, but perhaps Activision CEO Bobby Kotick was just toying with us. Regardless, let's just hope there's more ...And Justice For All packed into this thing than there is Load.

Yes, I know its Kotaku, but its the only one I can find at this time.

Sounds good to me.

Doesn't change the fact that this is extremely retarded lol

wow gh sold out and is just gonna shit out as much stuff as they can now, greedy bastards. yeh, ill download the metallica one for achievements.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6191921.html more Guitar Hero news :P I'd say Ride The Lightning would be an awesome album to put on.

I just lost what respect I had for the company...

4 releases in a fiscal year? That's just milking a genre more than Pokemon does. Do you really think it'll be worth the 59.99 they'll be charging? Hell, I'm cool with Aerosmith because it was a new idea. When I found out about IV, I was like "cool, but not needed so soon" and this just makes me laugh hard. Rock Band is doing it the smart way by keeping the need for a new game low with good and consistent DLC.
