R.I.P. Guitar hero (2005-2008)

The only song titles I caught were Smashmouth and Blink 182, which is an automatic no.

I'm not gonna buy it :P I haven't bought anything Guitar Hero since 2.. hehe

god, the guy singing was fucking annoying.

Ok, its been known for a few days but now Guitar Hero may well be truly fucked because Rock Band is being localized in Japan and GH isn't. So Harmonix, EA and the localizers are gonna make shit loads more money than Activison...

Oh and Rock Band may actually have Japanese songs as DLC. Sweet.

I so want this song on Rock band:

I would hardly say GH is "fucked". Keep in mind the Japanese have been raised on BEMANI games (most of which never came to the States) and already have tons of rhythm games over there. They also generally are not fans of Western music, from what I understand.

Even if they change the set list thoroughly, I suspect the game will probably not be that well received since most of the real rhythm fans in Japan have access to DrumMania, Guitar Freaks, et al. already.

I mean I could be wrong but I really don't think it'll take off THAT well in Japan. Sure it'll probably be reasonably successful but eh..

edit: also, keep in mind GH/RB are an absolute cakewalk chartwise compared to BEMANI's games... in which you're playing more to survive than to keep a combo for a high score. Any BEMANI fan will probably find GH/RB boring as heck.

I want to murder everyone that has anything to do with that commercial. It made me want to kill myself and never buy anything by Activision ever again.

True, but it doesn't mean they aren't fun to play, and I'm sure with weekly DLC content of Japanese songs and optional Western songs the Japanese may have as much fun with RB as much as they do with the usual Bemani games. Besides I don't really know if there are any Bemani games that combine singing, guitar/bass and drumming together. They've all generally just been floating out there but as far as I'm aware Harmonix were the first to do it sucessfully and more than likely dethrone GH, their old franchise, as the king of rhythm games.

Of course if there are any games that combined singing/guitar/bass/drums/etc before RB, please let me know as I'm not a huge bemani fan.

There aren't any that combined them, but they all have different games. Guitar Freak and Drum Mania, and there are many more games that are rhythm based. Beatmania IIDX, DDR, PIU, Pop'n. All significantly harder than any western rhythm game that has been set out.

Guitar Freaks and DrumMania arcade cabinets can be connected and play songs together. Many arcades in Japan do have this set up.

Activision performed Blasphemy

Now the series well and truly deserves to die.

BAD TASTE ACTIVISION!

Thats the statue of Jimi Hendrix. Activision stuck product advertisement on it. That is an insult, blasphemy, bad taste and it desecrates a wonderful piece of art which was made to remember the legendary rock star.

That picture is pretty awesome. The only thing left is to re-sculpt his face to show some anger/upsetness and have him holding a broken whammy bar.

Would be interesting to see some X Japan on the playlist lol.

I can already see the signs at doctor's offices everywhere: "Guitar Hero On Tour can NOT be played in the lobby, thank you!" lol

Oh. Because when you said blasphemy, I assumed it was a statue of Jesus.
That's pretty funny.

This is not true. Western music is the second most popular type of music sold in Japan. They love the old bands like Yes, ELO, Asia, etc.
