Raising the level cap!

I think it would be far too hard and too much complications to raise the lv cap...

Like everyone else said, it would make a lot of jobs absolete when in a party... WHM/RDM or BLM/RDM with convert yes prz, but still... it would negate the use of a RDM in a pt :(

Not like it would affect me much :P DRK80/WAR40 or DRK80/THF40 yayz :P

or wait O_O Drk/Rdm! O_O omg wewt! I culd liek totally Souleater then guillotine! then convert and be just fine! (Oh wait I've only got 273mp damn being an Elvaan!) SHIT! I'd be dead anyways! t-. -t

Just so you know alot of the time they will put new gear in the files as a higher level than what it actually is and when they want to intergrate it into the game its just a matter of changing the level. Look around, there is some shit with levels on it above 80, doesn't mean the cap is going to go above that.

Level 80 = Subjob convert. Most mages would have potentially infinite MP, no to mention having access to that and Spirit Taker would make PLD/WHM/SMN potentially invincible in some cases..

nah, if they did raise the lvl cap they'd gimp subbed convert, just like they did to meditate and utsusemi: ni

Actually, they really couldn't do anything like that. Most of the big fights are out in the open, from popped NM's or HNM's, and they can't just force people to a certain level when they engage some specific monster. Well, they could, but something like that would be difficult to implement correctly and easy to exploit. Unless they made all of those fights related to a quest(eco-warrior) or inside a bcnm, which they're not going to do, it'd be really difficult for them to impose any kind of level cap

SE has repeatidly said they're not raising the level cap, because as said before it'd make the current endgame noticably easier. In fact, they're encouraging people to hit the max level, as shown by the exp change and the introduction of the exp rings.

Bam! I just skipped everything said after page one, short on time ;-)

Yea I was thinking about it and they won't raise the cap, I think SE would rather create another online game for there playonline service (which I think they are) than raise the cap.

Sorry, wrong quote is was directed to Michaela, but nevermind i recalled wrong and conver is lv 40. Anyways this wont help barely. I.E. Tarutaru Lv 75. Low HP High MP-- Won't barely do any help.

they already raised the level cap, its called merit points ;)

and anyways, if they did decide to raise it to 80, they'd have to revamp a lot of spells/abilities (Shadowbind, Convert, etc.) to be main job only, like they did with Call Wyvern, i doubt they're going to go through this much trouble when they can just keep the cap at 75, bring in new merit abilities/spells, which btw they are doing in the expansion coming out in april.

if they did raise the cap to 80, and did all of these little tweaks to individual jobs abilities/spells, they'd have to cap certain areas at 75 to avoid balance issues (an alliance of level 80 players I doubt would have much trouble with any of the current end-game shit we have now), i.e. Cap Sky, Attohwa Chasm, KRT, and U.Range at 75, as well as the 3 king camps, and introduce new zones which allow you to go past the 75 cap, and introduce all new EXP zones for level 80 parties

seems like too much trouble if you ask me, i have a feeling FFXI will die a 75-cap game, i honestly don't know why people want level 80 anyways

no, they would just not give you access to convert

just like how we don't have access to Call Wyvern with /DRG

wish ppl would think things through before posting :|

people act like SE doesn't have access to change or modify their own gd game, it's quite retarded

lol, one thing, refresh usage as sub job will never be possible

the balance of power will be corrupted

like WHM82/RDM41

Who need RDM (as main job) now since that lv.82 whm have refresh, convert, debuff magic, and enfleebing

it'll never happen and will never will be :O

edit: image lol lv.80 you can get something call Royal Tunic (like Noble Tunic but better status and way more expenive then Noble :P) why mage gear always very expenive you know mage can't form and how they get the money from lol

Because RDM at that time would have around 70 higher enfeebling? =P

1UP: Please tell me you have no intentions of raising the level cap. I dread the thought of getting back on the treadmill and going from level 75 to 80.

HT: Ha ha, no, relax; there are no plans right now to raise it. As a clarification to that nuance, I mean that the cap is actually permanent, not just for "right now." Setting aside package releases for a moment, just with the version update system, what we'd like is to have people to discover the ways we intended them to play and enjoy playing within the existing system and content. And maybe for a top-end character, there are merit points and some other things to encourage them. Besides that, we don't want the people in the middle, as you say, to lower to mid-levels, to not keep going. Not that there's some gold waiting at the end, but the middle is also interesting.

To all non-PheonixPimps members, that means "I'm freakishly gay".
