I used a severe real-life example to point out the problem in the logic of your assignment of blame. I don't know why I'm suddenly made out to be the culprit of someone else's misbehavior.
As I indicated before I'm not angered or insulted in the least by *what* he said. I am deeply upset both by his attitude, and attitude of others who somehow feel it's ok to carry on with such behavior.
Really, is what I'm saying so outrageous? I call for decency, and I get naysayers. FF doesn't have to be the vessel for people to vicariously live out the assholes they can't be in real life. Eh, maybe they're assholes in real life too. Who knows.
I like your call for decency. All I'm saying is that if you're taking up this issue, it is appropriate for you to be part of the solution.
I'm not assigning blame. I don't think you're the culprit of the original situation, but you need to accept the reality of what bringing it to the flameboard does.
You said you shouldn't be expected to use your blacklist, and that you don't accept his apology.
Fair enough. At that point, it's up to you to determine how much you want to pursue this issue. Talk to GM's, talk to the culprit, whatever. Bringing it up to the flameboard may be a way to relieve some of your anxiety or whatever, but you are not going to rally the entire server into decency with a single flame.
As far as I'm concerned, your explicit refusal to take part in your own solution indicates a desire for a pity party, and MAJORLY DETRACTS from your points about the need for decency.
Should people act decently towards each other? Yes.
Do people occasionally NOT? Yes.
Should we try to keep old wounds open and destroy anyone who's ever stepped out of line? Are people who have done something wrong underserving of a second chance?
Your answer to those two would seem to be Yes.
I think you need to ask yourself where the decency in revenge is. Let it go and you'll have my full respect again. Not to mention, if someone WAS trying to hurt you with words, the best defense is to get over it. If someone WASN'T, then there is no reason to stay offended. If you simply think that the apology sucked, ask the guy to level his apologizing skill.
He may have caused the issue, but you're keeping reraise III on it.
And I, for one, don't think you're an asshole.
