Ranger Invites... non-existant?!

Had a 5/6 Japanese party last night, with a setup that seemed totally directed towards me = kill stuff guy.

Went to Bibiki Bay with no competiton on Dhalmels/Goblins, all VT-IT. PLD - WAR - RNG - RDM - BRD - BLM. We couldn't find a WHM, so we just picked up a BLM instead.

Sadly I cannot take chat screenshots on Xbox.

RNG/WAR - No merits
Hellfire
Dragon Steak (lol)
Double Minuet
Dia II
Acid Bolt (Warrior)

Dhalmels berserked = High 2220
Hobgoblin Toreador = High 2160

I have hit my maximum damage cap or I don't understand how Slug Shot works. Hitting a Goblin for nearly the same as a 'Zerked Cato had me scratching my head.

I hit a 'Zerked Cato for 2220 multiple times. Nearly all of the times I had Berserk up too, however one time I didn't have Berserk/Min/Warcry or anything.

It still did 2220 dmg.

Warrior or Paladin never lost TP, because I would always wait until the best moment to totally destroy the mob. (Cover = Mob dead in 10-15 seconds)

Sorry for the late reply but I didn't have time to check qcdn till now.

You know you're only validating my reasoning and give it more credence, don't you?

No, not at all. I'll get back to that.

First let me close the "hard work" discussion with Hellstorm. You totally missed my point. The nerf didn't make Ranger harder to play. It wasn't easier or harder then any other DD jobs before the nerf and it still isn't. Getting the appropriate gear isn't what I'd consider "hard work". It's just using your head.

As for needing a better balance of ranged accuracy and ranged attack, sorry to burst your bubble but no, no more then before. In fact, I'm full out STR and Rng. Attack on my gear when I exp. 64+45 STR /nin before food and probably around +25 rng accuracy from Kotes, Kriegsbeil and Pln. Seraweels. That's it. Mamool Savages are probably the mobs I get my lowest accuracy on and I hit about 75-80% easy on them.

Finally, all the gear I have, I'd work just as "hard" to get the exact same gear even if the nerf never happened. So as far as the nerf making ranger harder to play, no, it didn't. You can keep arguing with me on it but fact of the matter is I played ranger till 75 and still play it daily, from your sig you never touched it so you're gonna have to take my word for it.

Lavi, I didn't validate your point, read again my post. Let me explain it to you in other words actually.

Your point: Ranger screws up your party and it's too much work to explain to them how to do their job so why bother, just invite another DD. How to they screw up your party? They make you loose TP.

My answer: Bullshit. Yes I did agree that loosing TP will happen, but not to the extend that you are making it sound. I've never made people loose TP on every damn WS they were gonna do. In 2 hours of partying it MAY happen once or twice, no more.

On the other hand, I already explained how a ranger can improve your party and speed up kills. I'm not gonna repeat myself on it.

Your logic as you say, is wrong. You are using a selfish argument to build a case against inviting ranger in your party. Saying the whole party and the exp/hour will get screwed by having a ranger in it because YOU might loose TP once or twice is not a valid argument. The ranger isn't screwing the party, he's taking 1500-2000 dmg out of your total parse results and that's why you don't want him. You are putting your personal results before the party's EXP outcome.

If you want to prove to me how a ranger will be negative or worst then another DD job, use a better, more party oriented argument. For exemple, I could say THF imo is worst then other DD jobs because it's basically a TP source for the mob. My argument would go like this:

I think it's Ikari that posted the mob's TP gain is equal to your TP +2. So take me as ranger, on say an Aura Statue (last time I used ranger so I remember it). I do about 160-180 + anywhere from 9 extra light damage when resisted to 39 unresisted. So per shot, I do a total of 200-220 dmg. I get 15 TP per shot, so the mob gets 17.

Now a THF (and I ever played THF or used dagger on a Statue plus I always have filter on so these are just guesstimate), with tripple attack and Dual Wield, will attack 2 to 5 times I think per "attack round". The damage of a dagger is what.. 20? 30? 40?. Let's say 40. How much TP per hit does a THF get? 5, 6? Let's say 6. That means you are going to hit the mob 5 times to do about the same damage I do. That equals to 40 TP for the mob. Even with a shit load of Subtile Blow gear, you aren't going to get anywhere close the the dmg/mob's TP ration a ranger will produce. Or a DRK. Or a SAM.

Again, the THF numbers are guesstimate as I have no clue really, but you get my point I'm sure.

So this is what I would use as an argument if I wanted to build a case against inviting THFs. But I won't since I like having THFs in my parties. This is a real argument, this is something that will affect the whole party and the total EXP they will get.

Your argument, on the other hand, is a selfish one that is easily countered. YOUR dmg loss < the speed a Ranger will bring to the kills. Period.

I'm done here, I've said all I had to say and after this I get the feeling I'd just be banging my head on the wall and repeating myself.

Sounds like you need more Str on WS. I dont think 2200 is cap on those. Specially with gun. Othinus Bow maybe but I doubt it for ebow or gun.

Yeah I was level 72 and didn't have Ruby Rings. I'm still saving for a pair of Marine M Boot too. My miniscule STR/Atk build was: Blue kotehardie, Custom M Gloves, and Hunter's beret.

So maybe if my STR were higher, I could be hitting the Catos and Hobgobs for 2300-2400 or so? I'm 73 now so I won't exp on them anymore...Though I'm still curious to know.

Today I was fighting IT Imps outside of the new staging point Mire. Astri's a great Brd. Basically showed me the ropes for pulling around the Soulflayers and kept up double minuet for the majority of the time.

I didn't record numbers because they weren't all that great, but I did up my STR build for a total of +27. Soul voice was just above 2000 dmg and my highest Slug was around 1500.

So veresko your saying rng not change at all? Your rng buddy Neosquall seem to think different. I think rng still one the strongest dd out there, and was hardly effected by the update (with exception little more misses, and started using fire staff instead of axes because they don't melee and put on more rng acc/str then they use to do. These thing would be considered work harder. Not making your job harder but making getting better at your job better.
