Normally I am an Ranger who uses Meat on Normal Mobs, and Sushi on HNM/Gods. However, I have only recently been able to start to equip myself for the Meat Build on HNM/Gods...and here is what I came up with...

Normal equipment, I never have problems hitting EXP mobs, NMs, and other sorts of things...but when I equip as much Ranged acc as I can I still wiff like crazy on HNM/Gods.

Keep in Mind, I have full merits(Marksmenship and Archery) for Ranger, Full Rapid Shot & Unlimited Shot as well as PPA Arrow for WS.

During my last Byakko+Kirin I attended, I had a total of +90~+112 Ranged acc full time. This was to test how much I could take off, and how much I needed till I least got a 88-90% Hit ratio.

I hit Byakko 5 times through the duration of the fight, and don't remember how many times I hit Kirin before food wore off - then swapped to Sushi.

Now my problem lies herein where I see full STR build RNGs, with Sea Torque(Hope Torque), has +7 Archery Skill relivant for RNG.

They are wearing 0 Ranged Acc gear. Besides Buccaneers Belt. Ebow/CObra Bow doesn't matter which, 2 Flame rings, 2 Triump Earrings, Wyvern Helm for WS, and ...oh yeah Ohat for TPing. Only thing.

This person is hitting at a good 88~90% Acc Build when full timing the Torque, then Gorget for WS.

Same merits, no where even close than the ranged acc gear I had.

However, they had a BRD to prelude. I did not. Now the question was: Is BRD's Prelude(x2) that much more powerful than the ranged acc I had equipped? To make it Viable to even use all that STR equipment to TP/WS in?

Torque is an estimated +7 ranged attack, +7 Ranged acc(Or so it's said...I think..please correct me...)

Even if I equipped full STR equipment, I would of missed alot more than I had. What am I doing wrong? Is the torque's +7 Skill MUCH more relivant to hitting dead on, or would a P charm(If I had access to it) be more viable accuracy wise?

I jsut can not see how someone with 2 Preludes, full STR gear, and Hope Torque, can hit several times more than I can, when I have +100+ Ranged acc.

Or is the BRD's Prelude that great that it makes having ac gear like that just "lol" ? Thanks for your information and Insight. If needed I'll list off the full Equipment I had, vs the full equipment they had.

Thanks again.

I can only think of like 3 mobs that RNG shines on heavily outside of sky and dynamis/limbus etc

KB - low evasion in general, meat would work

Roc/Simurgh/etc - These guys have really high evasion for anyone, sushi for sure

Dark Ixion - this guy has more evasion than you would think, sushi for sure.

I can't comment on your gear setup since I'm not a RNG, just trying to give you some insight here.

now, for prelude, Prelude 2 is like 30 rACC, Prelude 1 is like 10 or something like that.

It's enough to not need sushi on pretty much anything in the game unless you have near no rACC in your gear setup at all.

however, I see no reason to nor would I be tping on anything like byakko or the sort in that kind of gear, that sounds kind of dumb to me

I really don't know what to say here, he could have been getting really lucky or something

Yeah I seem to like having better returns than wiffing like crazy then maybe WSing with Unlimited Shot WS + PPA Arrow(+40 ranged acc on the arrow).

RNG is good on more then that, but it's limited as to compared with SAMs and good WARs.

However, RNG is my only melee class job, and if ever it's needed over my BLM or RDM(lol yeah right...) I'd like for the best possible damage outcome.

-I can hit Simurgh and Roc easly with meat without using sushi~ You know of any LiveJournals of RNGs who have researched a lot of information?

Luck is always a factor, your bad luck vs his good luck in this case i guess. Nothing else seems viable, unless you missed something in his gear.

But to answer on your meat question, using meat on a thf mob is usually not a very good idea, and thats what byakko is. You should be able to use meat for Cerb, Khima and KB atleast, those are the only places i really played rng. I think if you want to use meat on Kirin you probably gonna need atleast one prelude, atleast thats how i remembered it, it's been a long time since the rng vs kirin era, and accuracy changed alot since then. Ixion you need sushi for sure. Im not sure if you want to take rng to aery or VoS and if you do i'd have to question you lol. You could bring rng to tiamat, they even used to be a good source of dmg for him, but i'd recommend you to both use sushi and only shoot while it flies, for various reasons. Im not sure there are many more HNM's worth mentioning after those. But if their is, you should be able to use meat.

Well, I can eat meat on any endgame HNM in ToAU areas, as I never if barely miss at all for them.

You have good point on Byakko, however I didn't think it'd be all that bad with that much ranged acc equipment and capped skill merits. =/

Kirin, didn't have a BRD but bleh.

I'll just stick with sushi, since it gives me better returns rather than missing. Starting to think meat for HNM type mobs that are evasion based, is just for E-peen numbers.

I'll look around for a while. Thanks for the insight. ^^

-PS: by the way I'd most likely take BLM to Fafnir before I took RNG, and if I took RNG there I'd be /WAR since the AoE just removes shadows anyways. RNG is nice however if you have a Machine crossbow setup and pure MND build and Holy bolts...that is insane DoT.

Specially with the 5/5 Snapshot merits, and Velocity shot.

Equiping a PPA and minimal ranged acc gear ive been able to hit every type of endgame mob around while eating attack food. now with the expansion head piece giving that high % of weaponskill acc along with the str boost it gonna make it even easier. i eat a dragon steak and ask for double minuets while fighting gods when i have the PPA on board with me

Has it already been a over a year since we've had the job forums up? Seems like just yesterday we put these in.
