Rate up page

It shouldn't tell you how much the rate up was worth. The amount varies from how high the giver's reputation is. Simple subtraction will tell you what the value is if you catch the rate up in time.

Or you can do the math if you really want to know.. I believe you have to add 1 more to the total you get here, I seem to recall me and Cmdr figuring that out, like you get one by default or something.

1 year, 1000 posts, or 100 rep = 1 point. So say I've been here for 2 years @ 12k posts and 1000 rep - my rep up/down power would be 24 (2 for 2 years, 12 for 12k posts, 10 for 1k rep). Unless you're an admin, then you're 30 points by default. Suckers.

Think Blue wants to know about received points, no? The math would dictate your rate up value, but it is hardly the case that Blue would have access to, for example, my exact reputation.

Yeah, but you could ask, or if they have fewer than 11 dots you have a pretty good idea how much they have. It's easy enough to estimate.

I saw somewhere that someone had how many points they received from a Rate Up.

How come I don't? :(

Because no one loves you.

Thanks for the 10dot.

np lol

I didn't know the system rounded up, my rep is 988, it should've given you 9 based on the 1/10th formulae, not that I'm complaining XD

After 1000 I think it changes from 100/dot to 200/dot.

it would seem that it can round up based on actual rep, in this case a 9 incher to a 10 because I'm close to 10; presumably <5= 1 pt + current rep based on the hundred positon= total rep.

Not including the mods and such

Mods follow the formula from what I recall. Only admins have the override where they're 30 points across the board.

When the hell did you guys change it so we can see the last 30 reps?

Are the points *limited* to 30? Because it's not terribly hard to get a score higher than 30 by that calculation (I think I add up to 32 or so).

In regards to this whole thing, how maybe more points do you need to be than someone for their rep up/down to be a gray dot? o.o

Before he was banned Rann said Jyak's rate downs were gray so... I don't know. His still worked on me one dot ago.

Unless he has it SS'd i'd say he's a liar. How big the difference is doesn't matter, its just that if they have less than 10 posts (maybe)/are red dotted themselves (which jyak never got to that point) or if you don't have more than 100 rep or so (also which jyak never got that low).

Unless i'm wrong, which i probably am. Disregard if necessary.

Well, I can't tell how much a rate down is supposed to affect you for either. Basically, the point loss was a lot lower than I initially thought it would be.

EDIT: You, in the red. Are rate ups and downs calculated the same or is it altered based on how much rep you have over someone else?

I don't think the person you are repping up or down is taken into account. I've gotten 1-2 point rate downs from members with 1 green dot.

That's the thing, since the rate down took away less than the points that a rate up would have given (and even less than the amount of dots they had).

The amount of points you give as a rate up is the same you give as a rate down. That way if you rep power is 30, you give +30 for approval, or -30 for a disapproval. At least this is what I have noticed.
