Rdm

It fills your mp bar using your HP.

You need atleast 1 MP. And you need more than 1 HP. If you are 800/800 HP and are 1/601 MP, when you use it you will be 200/800 HP and 601/601 MP.
Don't fuck up and do it while Poison/DoT'd.

you put stoneskin up and blink before you convert, if you're so low on mp that you cant do both rest up for stoneskin at least

stoneskin covers DoTs trist=)

Blink.... what a waste. Maybe at lower levels, but you'll only usually need Stoneskin - And if you're being attacked, you've got tank issues.

... If I'm main healing, INT enfeebles go first when it gets busy.

agreed

blink all the time, saves my life all the time

not that this has nothing to do with the fact that

*coughnei'salittleshakyonthehpdepartmentcough*

taru's never see their death coming

Rappa's death was SO not my fault ; ;

I say it's a waste since I've almost never needed it. and it never kicks in to block AoEs that can be blinked by 2 shadows for me anyway >.>

Nah...if you're 800/800hp and 1/601mp when you Convert, you're gonna drop to 1/800hp and 601/601mp. Sortof why having balanced HP/MP is important because having way more HP than MP is wasting potential on Converts.

Also, I'd ignore the whole "A perfect RDM can do anything and everything in a party and always be just in time for convert" thing people preach of. Between enemies getting in stray hits in addition to random potential links or even just odd party setups (or flat-out bad party members), the odds you're able to do everything a RDM is capable of doing in a party, especially without resting like some many "uber" RDMs brag of doing, is honestly slim to none.

with a bard or cor and rdm mainhealing 4 melees(that dont suck)

you dont really need to much or not at all having over 6mp(7 for the gimp) per tick helps a lot

it's easily well done not a rarity and common with the above setup + good mp management

Covering 4-5 hastes as well as 1-2 Refresh, Dia, Slow, Para, in addition to Silence on NINs/WHMs/BLMs, Dispel on stuff such as acc/eva boosts, sleeping adds while main healing...fair enough. Those're pretty common duties for RDM, but then there's high-and-mighties who seem to prance in, always claiming they can do everything a RDM is capable of, which would mean they do the above things as well as commonly nuking mobs to help chains flow better. Maybe if they have Dalmy and Duelist Chapeau, but even then I don't see how they'd possibly have the spare MP to constantly toss out nukes and still have MP to do everything else, especially without resting.

I couldn't possibly pull off such a feat on my RDM, which I suppose makes me "every day", but then on the wayside I've never seen any RDM ever able to do what a "perfect" RDM can do when I used to party on my WAR, either.

I was referring to my lv actually >_> and what i've gotten past(thank God)

colibri and imps

not merit with the prime gear and such

Colibri have no buffs and Imps resist dispel and other debuffs(wtf) amazingly, however I am starting to be able to debuff them i couldnt pre 68 and silence I'm fairly sure they're immune to or just highly resistant.

hasting isnt all that bad I'm not sure how the merit and high end stuff when rdm mainheals the pt I'll take your word for it that it's more exhaustive, the mobs that I have to fight arent that bad.

pending pt setup I really dont put a lot into haste order if it's a mp heavy pt(whm, blm/smn,etc.,drk,blu,pld) I'd haste the pld and then the drk then work on the refresh myself, pld, whm, blu, then drk every other fight or so.

those 'cannons' with nin,war,sam,drg,cor/brd,me i do spend a bit of time healing with regen and cure III usage. I'll retract my statement on resting, I dont do it as much as I would in a mp heavy pt than in a 'cannon' one, but there are times when I dont use much mp and have so much that i can just stand and rest at colibri and to a lesser imps. I usually dont nuke as it hurts my mp which directly impacts the chain and resting factor. I'd spam stone on a colibri to cap elemental that's about it

but what are the mobs you mainheal against in merit?

Generally MamuJa/Sea Puk, or if relatively unlucky, Greater Colibri. All of them have WSes that easily rip down shadows (or go through shadows completely), which means you'd want to save MP in case the brunt of the WS gets through, which can do anywhere from 200 to 800 on one of the melees.

If you're main healer, you sortof need some MP on the side in case of stray hits inevitably getting through. If you're nuking, you're basically burning MP otherwise saved for curing in exchange for making enemies die faster...the two duties totally contradict themselves, and both can't be consistently pulled off without having an enormous amount of spare MP on the side, which a RDM simply won't have unless they're skimping on some sort of debuffs or buffs.

If someone says they can play healer or nuker whatever without resting, I might believe that since RDM are a viable substitute for WHMs. But really, healer AND nuker without resting? I'm just gonna hafto call major bullcrap. =/

Aside from heavy nuking, I have done pts where i didn't rest (haste, refresh and all that jazz). There was no time in between pulls (or I was pulling) to rest for even 1 tick. To play rdm like this though, for every pt including dynamis and such, burns you out pretty fast. It's the main reason I stopped using rdm for any kind of "exp" or event party.

Main Healing makes me mess up my nukes >.>

It usually helps to have a PLD that knows what they're doing to lighten the burden a little when it comes to main healing with a BRD or COR.

And I didn't pick the job to be a viable WHM substitute... Oh well, what can you do.

I would go with Hume

Ok, now that i have decided a race. What is the best way that i could level Elemental Magic, being that seems to be the main use on Maat. Since during most groups i do not plan to be Nuking. Is there any ways besides Skill Up Groups? Any suggestions welcome.

Elemental enfeebs worked for me for awhile - not that /BLM is always the optimum choice. I'd suggest just free nuke when you're not doing anything else. I wound up skilling up on crabs.
