Real or fake. You decide!

to think we're the only inteligent life in the universe is pure arogance.

It's not arrogance, really. The requirements for life are very scarce in the universe. Then a cataclysm has to actually occur to start it.

Of the universe, you need a planet or a moon. Consider our solar system. Of all the solid bodies in it, only two of them have the means to support life(one isn't mars, as mars had lost it's means) with only evidence of two having at one point actually having life(atleast bacterial.) So that's pretty a fairly miniscule percentage of the universe already. Remember kids, the universe is not infitessimal.

Then this planet/moon has to have, as the New Kids on the Block say, "The right stuff." A combination of things - not too far, yet not too close to the planets solar systems sun. The right combination of elements.

After that abyssmally rare happening goes through, you need the cataclysm. An event so specific, it might not even occur at all. Congratulations, you have life.

But wait, theres more. For this life to be classified as "Intelligent," it has to evolve the correct way. Evolution itself is volatile and unspecific.

You give me one piece of evidence that there are other intelligent species in this universe then i'll retract my statement. Other than that, all you have is dreams and wishes from an over-imagination. There is no arrogance in my statement. It's just the truth.

I find it hilarious that people can disavow religion within a blink of an eye, but as soon as you mention about how bullshit 'aliens from another planet' and 'lolcrop circles' is, people become completely offended.

I'm not saying there aren't simple alien cell organisms out there and I have made it clear in every post about the species being 'intelligent'. Give me a break though, UFO's? Come back to fucking reality.

Edit: Skaw said it perfectly.

show me proof of intelligence on earth first...

and here... The Drake Equation

its "mathmatically" all that sh!t Skaw just spewed, but better.

That video is as real as Pamela Anderson's boobs.

Its possible that there are other life forms out there. I'm not saying there is but I do believe it is possible. You can travel an entire lifetime in one direction in space and still not even come close to the end. There are things out there that we probably don't even know exist and we'll never know if it exists because we can't live long enough to travel out there and explore it. Our planet is nothing but a single grand of sand out there in the vast ocean of stars and planets and we don't have the technology to travel outside our own little solar system much less explore the billions others that are out there. Just because we can't go out there and explore it, doesn't mean it can't exist. Its doubtful we'll ever come across these other lifeforms in our human existence but it can be possible that there are others out there as well doing there own thing like us. I'm not a believer in UFOs and alien invasions but I believe that it is possible for other lifeforms to exist. Even if we we'll never meet or see them.

God or aliens, God or aliens...

Aliens or God, aliens or God...

I berieve in fings I cant see. I berieve in vampires and werewolves, sasquatch and loch ness, mothman and boogeyman, toof fairy and bruddy mary...

But people say Im retarded for believing in the things I believe in, even when they believe in things they have absolutely no proof of :(

I'm the boogeyman, r'member??

Anyways, I want to express what I think:
I think it's highly probable there is life elsewhere. Okay, yeah, there needs to be all that special stuff in order for carbon based lifeforms to live...
Does all life have to be carbon based or w/e?
Would if life elsewhere is based off of a different element that can survive under completely different extremes and elements? With such a number of planets/moons in the universe....it would be *incredible* (and unlikely, IMO) that we're the only life.

And if it's a religious take, I don't see why some godly-figure would just make us...we're boring. If I were an kid with an ant farm, I'd want alot of ants.

And plus, haven't you seen Futurama? Aliens...EVERYWHERE. *wulpwulpwulpwulp!* (That's a lobster noise)

Ok, your right i'm wrong. There definately is one alien species in existance, but I still woudn't call it 'intelligent'.

you win the thread

It's obviously a special FX project done with 4 layer compositing and some nice really nice tracking on the animators part. I would have liked more if it were real. But if it were, we'd all still think it was CG.

The issue becomes that in an area as mindbogglingly massive as the universe, these impossible conditions can occur billions of times over. And there's also the possibility of life outside the scope of what we know, like silicone based life.

To believe that we're alone in the universe is increddibly arrogant. Even in our own galaxy, its quite likely to be as many as a thousand planets with life on them, either more, less, or just as advanced as we are.

basicly what i was gonna say. this universe is far to large to be inhabited by one species(sp). What other type of life that could exist beyond our planet is a whole nother matter.

If there is someone out there watching over us they're smart enough to know to stay away from us. -Grissom
