I ripped SeeMeHow a new one today when he had the audacity to help him with Carby Mitts.

If you're one of those contributing to the advancement of this delinquent, pisspoor fool, please just do us all a favor and don't until he ups his game to correspond to his xp level. O_o

The last thing he needs is pretty r/ex gear to fool other vets who don't read QCDN (yes, they exist...) into thinking he's a quality player.

Ugh.

really frustrates me when new players will piss and moan for not giving them help all the time, even if you do help nearly every other day. Then, they leave the shell. Their reason?

"I have no need of a linkshell that refuses to help me"

lol'z

wow...

Epic lose ftw. this is sad beyond all thought and words...

Partied with this idiot with my thief last night over at KRT. Rawlins sent me a tell looking for a replacement and I thought "Kick ass, I LFP for like a min and get an invite on thief!" Takes me awhile to get my gear together but I get going and behold Seemehow is rocking the SMN.

At first I didn't recognize him til I realized that whoever was the SMN was doing a shitty job. Then I acknowledged his exsistance and realized that it was him.

Also Mornblade was in the group as well as a 50 something RDM meleeing his ass off for whatever reason, so that wasn't really helping. Long story short......fuck that short story short like 5 min within the PT and the tank had to go in like 10 min or some shit. But I wasn't mad since there wasn't any way to get a SATA set up going and we ended up getting aggro from a dire bat and everyone pretty much died. (I did my THF thing and just Flee'd and disbanded from PT.)

Any way, yeah, great way to start up THF again I guess.

I don't think I've ever really seen an example of gimpage this obscene, and I've seen some things I just absolutely could NOT believe. Well, I mean ... I couldn't believe it before I saw these screenshots. This guy is unreal.

I would have thought that he would have been halted before being able to get this far, simply by the sheer fact that his gimpness is too intense for him to progress. I always assumed that there would eventually, at SOME POINT, come a moment where the stupidity would be too much for even the most desperate of potential party members, and a person just can't keep edging along any longer.

I was mistaken.

You know how this guy has survived, even to fifty? It's clearly not because of any ingenuity on his part. There's only one reason, and it makes me more frustrated with the community at large than him. It's the fact that PEOPLE KEEP LETTING PERMA-N00BS LIKE THIS RIDE AROUND ON THEIR BACKS.

This level of ignorance, at this stage of someone's game-life, is generally caused by the following attitude:

1) It takes too long to make the money to upgrade my equipment. I don't have as much time to play as these losers do, so it should be alright for me to do nothing but level.

It never occurs to them that everybody has to divide whatever time they have available between equipment needs and pure levelling progression. This guy needed to stop levelling COMPLETELY 30 levels ago, and focus on equipment exclusively. He never did, because he thinks he shouldn't have to, and people let him get away with it.

2) Everyone that tries to change the way I play, or act like they're better than me, are just Nazis. All "play styles" are equally valid ... I can play however I want, wear whatever I want, and every other stuck-up bastard can go to Hell.

They tend to be overly defensive when someone has the audacity to venture forth with some criticism. Granted, it's not always presented in the most tactful way possible, but someone, somewhere, SOMEHOW (pun intended) has to eventually have the fuggin' balls to forcefully give advice that was never asked for.

People like this guy, however, will react aggressively towards even the most tenderly-presented information he's given. If it's even slightly contrary to the way "he wants to do it," or has been doing it, it suddenly becomes about maintaining his ego. The "o ya? i bin playin' dis game 4 2 yrz ur duh n00b" viewpoint tends to cloud all vision at this point.

The warriors you see walking around with great swords exclusively "because it makes them look cool," the black mages that nuke as hard as they can at the beginning of every pull until they're out of MP, and the Summoners (like this dumbass) that leave their avatars out 100% of time and let them melee are examples of this mindset.

3) Everyone else is the n00b. I'm perfectly fine.

Once again, if anyone ever grabs them by the scruff of the neck and tries to rattle sense into them, they dig their heels in.

I understand that for many people, the chance of nasty ego-driven reactions prevent you from saying much. You don't want to ruin the party, you don't want to hurt feelings, you just don't want to "start anything." It's a regretful thing, however, that this well-intended point of view is the sort of environment SeeMeHow has been thriving in. He's still playing like he always has, today, because of this. I'm almost certain of that.

I'm not saying that there needs to be an increase in "OMG ur a n00b" outbursts ... don't think I'm making any justifications for that. Developing the spine necessary to offer constructive criticism where it is BADLY NEEDED, however, can only go a long way towards preventing situations as horrific as SeeMeHow's.

They might kick, scream, and gouge up a resentful storm ... eventually, however, if enough people are drilling the basics into their heads, they're going to pick some of it up. If they refuse to even give accepted common wisdom the benefit of a TRY, in spite of your best efforts, it's time to either kick them (if you're the leader), or leave yourself. The most important thing to remember is that if someone does something absolutely ridiculous, and doesn't initially respond well to you delicately trying to change that, it's alright to do something to try to convey the degree to which they're being an arse.

"I don't use headbutt" should NOT be the end of the conversation. It's alright to press onward, with an increasing level of assertiveness.

Whatever you do, do not let them continue leeching from you. Do that, and you're only keeping them around in their current state for the next unlucky bastard that has to deal with them. Try your best to "fix" them, as soon as you notice a particularly dire problem, or give them up for dead.

It's either that, or we accept the fact that we're going to be drowning in these guys in order to avoid "starting something."

I think hes a kid. I have seen a galka with the name of Seemehowsdaddy and a Taru female with Seemehow something in her name. I remember that taru said in her bazaar:"Ïf you see my son, tell him to clean hes room!". So yea, I think hes just a kid that doesnt know to play well.

He could be gimp and all, and instead of flame him by hes gear or for how he plays, I think we should help him out to be a better player. This is my oppinion.

Most shitty players don't take advise from anyone. To them they are always right.

"Farming gil is too hard so gimping exp pts is Okay."

It's not that we're too mean. It's that they're too stupid and don't care. They are the kind of people to use "I pay to play I can play how I want"

When someone is that bad, no attempts to help are going to work. Winklewil covered it rather well, he's going to be defensive and not change a damn thing; instead he'll just lash out at the person trying to help. I had it happen in a party the other day with a rdm in crappy melee gear complaining about how he didn't have enough mp to act as our healer and he was the only mage. Or the white mage 2 weeks ago who didn't think that they should stay back or even cast cure spells, they wanted to be a DD.

I tried to help, they got defensive, so I just either left the party or kicked their ass out of the party the first chance I got. Thinking that just offering some help will work every single time is incredibly naive at best, if they have gotten to that point playing as bad as they do, they are not going to change. With those kinds of people, being nice and trying to help them improve isn't going to work; so maybe laughing at them will have a positive effect(or at least it'll be entertaining for the rest of us), even if it's to only make them quit the game. If they're that stupid, they're beyond all help so you might as well laugh at them.

That is just sad now I know I do not have the best gear but aleast I try and stay up on my armor. Well as much as I can HQ staffs and pup parts cost alot lol.

Geez, this gimped Blu could've at least got himself Bronze gloves too for his hands instead of leaving that spot empty.

Besides, what else would he spend all his gil on if he had no gil to buy better gear? If you save every single item you get from exping all those lvls, from each exp session you might be able to sell all that crap for at least 5-10k. All that gil can add up after sometime, plus everytime you upgrade, you can sell old gear to get new and better gear, and you don't even have to spend very much on most gear to keep up to your lvl.

Either this guy is RMT or someone new who bought the account, or a little kid that doesn't know better but just wants to do dmg and be lolDD no matter what job he's on.

Between Winkle and Bajaratt, they've got it pegged.
We offered the guy pointers on how to improve his playstyle. I eventually offered an open invitation to /tell for advice or if needs to work on aspect of the game once I disbanded the party...

However offer is refused vehemently and he thinks he's doing nothing wrong.

Now DarkSeifer, I know you and I initially got off on the wrong foot ages ago, but I agree with what you said, granted he could have been someone in true need of help, but any/all attempts made to help improve playstyle were shunned and just kept trying to pass off like nothing he did was wrong and that he was too good for advice from Davion, Stevedizzle, Moonyoung, or myself and insisted that's how SMN was to function and that he'd keep us alive...
(Yeah, I told you we wiped in my earlier post, and this paragraph above is just one big grammatical nightmare.)

Oh, on another note, some group of bozos (maybe RMT or just ignorant folk who've either been paid in gil as mercs or never partied with the guy and just wanted to be nice) ended up getting this guy his Carby Mitts, which'll mislead some ignorant folk into thinking he's not a sorry sack of bantha poodoo.

P.S.: Sad part is, I'd probably still offer help as far as advice and even finding a job around the level to watch and party with him to give feedback if he'd honestly take it to heart...

Theres quite good equipment you can buy cheaply at that level, its maybe not the best gear for your job but it beats wearing lv 1 gear at 50.

Of course maybe this person came across his character stripped with no gear etc, he may be a fairly new player to this game and entered at the midway point instead of learning the harsh realitys of farming and slowly building up gear we all do at first from lv 1.

the party leader said he owed him for helping get him avatars. what i wanna know is how this gimp even managed to do THAT!
