Recent Hackings

Meghan got hacked 06/06 and move to Kujata server. Smart.dll was found on computer. She was running Norton and it didn't pick it up. She then downloaded AVG free because she knew it had to be there. Sure enough she found it. So all you Norton users out there, beware you may not be protected. Also found Trojan winlogon.exe(704) unknown at this time if it had anything do with ffxi hacking.

That 4 from my ls alone that been hacked in last month. 3 in last week. Just because they have not taken your account yet don't think they won't they might have your password already, so if you have not changed it yet you might want to. Also there reports that the ls community is bugged to so be on the look out if you used that recently to. I post this link once before but will post again for the sake that people will follow it and protect there computers. It will get worse before it get better. http://forums.windower.net/index.php?showtopic=11323

Thanks for the warning, dl'ing AVG free just in case. If it does pick anything up I'm gonna get it off fast and buy the full version.

IN NEED OF ADVICE URGENTLY!

I got Norton for free from BT Broadband so I don't know if uninstalling norton will void my contract with them so if anyone is with BT and has had Norton before, can you change to AVG and keep the contract with BT?

Thanks in advance!

Just shut down norton and run AVG if it's such a dilemma.

lol , my account was hacked and stolen, pw changed and i dont even play, :) gunna get it back though, >.>

If the keyloggers are capable of allowing accounts with saved passwords to be hacked, then I can vouch that the tips posting in this thread do in fact work, because I checked somepage.com the same day that the virus was apparently spread to people who didn't have the updated flash player (which I didn't have either). My account hasn't been compromised, and I do only browse in Firefox with the NoScript add on, so i'm pretty sure this is the reason.

I know it doesn't really help the people that had their accounts hacked already (and hopefully SE can be quick about restoring the accounts) but for those who are on PCs and worried about having their accounts hacked in the future, i'd recommend the tips suggested in that thread above.

That didnt stop the keylogger from finding me.

Are you enabling all scripts?

Not to be mean, but we've been saying it for awhile now.

I've been doing this for a while. I even have it on the roomates laptop, he just disables it to look at porn and never turns it back on.

So its not quite as e-z as you say it is!!

No scripts are enabled. well ok.. on occasion i enable qcdn facebook and bg forums to actually see the spoiler tags. Yes iframes are disabled. yes all other checkboxes are ticked off

My laptop has only AVG and it has stopped all those keylogger things. I have 18 stored on my laptop(In the AVG vault. Too scared to delete them) and 1 on my main computer. I haven't visited Somepage since Marajade got hacked but I still visit Wiki, AH, and Atlas and I've only got a basic knowledge of computers. I've never been hacked.

I just downloaded the Adblocker and Noscript for extra security.

Then you enabled scripts on a site that got hit.

Unfortunate, but probably what happened.

By the way, they're editing ffxiclopedia pages and putting keyloggers on high traffic, but unlocked articles.

There was one on Assault 4 days ago. Please be careful.

If what you're saying is true, which I highly doubt (you can't use ffxiah.com for example without scripts enabled), then you probably picked up a spyware inviter trojan on facebook which invited other spywares. That's the only thing I could guess.

What bad things happen when you delete them...?

Myrrh did marj get his account back? I hadn't heard whether he got to getting the notary or not.

I believe Script Blocker would kill this threat because the exploit in flash was based on the potential for deprecated ActionScript code to still be used, thus working around XSS enforcement in Flash. (There are some legitimate applications of using XSS in flash, however due to safety concerns, it is not a wise idea. XSS itself is not bad, only when exploits are involved does it cause problems.)

The very definition of XSS being Cross-Site-Scripting. As long as you didn't have scripts enabled on the site doing the damage, you should be safe. Don't take my word for it though.

do u think they do the restore on your character on weekends also. or is it just weekdays.

I was hacked on Tuesday and called the same day at 11:00am pst.

I just find it better to know that they're in the AVG vault then deleting them and worrying about not seeing them on my computer. I'm a very weird person.

well talked to a Gm today, they said they have not even started my restore yet. It will take maybe 2 more weeks. I dont know if i should just cancel the restore and just farm and mine to make my money back
