Religious Propaganda / Advertising

Btw, mortanis, that's why it's called faith, that's the basis of it. some misguided people try to explain it, try to use science to prove things, but in the end of it all, you just have to take that leap of faith, believe it knowing that there is no proof.

You know, I always try to avoid religious topics... but Faith is such an interesting term these days... People seem to think you can believe anything you want, as long as you have faith.

Someone could claim the existence of a square circle, and claim "I have faith that such a thing exists." Yet such a thing is logically impossible. The use of the term "faith" almost grants you the ability to believe anything you want these days (or so some people like to think..) I believe if you haven't taken a good look at yourself and what you believe in and why, but you simply believe what you believe in due to your upbringing, your environment, or what-have-you, I feel the use of the term Faith is totally misguided. 9/10 religious people have never really examined their religion and their beliefs.

Anyways, yeah, interesting stuff.

Hail Fumoffu.

My favourite religious propaganda are the little comic books. I don't remember what they're called off hand, but I know you can find them online.

My two favourites have to be the one about how Dungeons and Dragons is actually a cult that teaches you real evil magic and involves selling your soul, and the other one about "The Truth about Halloween" where the teenagers go to a cabin and get killed by Satan or something to that extent. It's been awhile so the actual storylines might not be the same as I remember them, but are close enough. Good times!

You're thinking of Jack Chick tracts. I've got a pretty good collection of those. The anti-Catholic ones like "Why is Mary Crying?" crack me up.

Meh i'm deist (sp?) myself. Well half deist half aganostic.

Yeah religious propaganda is hilarious, gotta love how they are happy to badger you for hours about christ and shit but if you suggest they look at your religion they act as if you just said something horribly offensive.

My friend just points out stupid shit from the bible or thanks them for giving him one to burn at his satanic rituals since he was running out. I believe his favorite is "I'm one of the 3200" or some number which is supposedly the number of people who will make it to heaven according to the bible. They clearly had a great idea of the worlds population when they came up with this figure didn't they...

an odd thing is, the only religions that Ive ever heard any problems out of are the weird ones... Like, the ones that are constantly changed, or go against what they teach, lol. Not pointing fingers, but catholicism around here is one of em. The Catholic churches host lotteries to win things, like harleys, Vette's, shit like that. The more you attend, the better chance you have of winning. What kind of bullshit is that? lol.

Religion has basically really diminished over time... There are only a few good, "stick to the bible" ones out there. This is one of the things that really bothers me, because people that arent religious (most of the time) put them all in one caddy-shack.

Walk around a college campus and you will come across these people daily.

I have a well practiced line that i like to use when i talk to them

"Ok, thank you for your (book, pamphlet, fake dollar bill w/e). I am glad to see that you have invested some intrest in my life but to be perfectly honest with you i am content with going to hell if it does exist which i believe it does not. With this in mind i dont want to offend you by throwing this away, which i plan on doing, so ill give this back to you cause i dont want to be wasteful."

Only once has the conversation gone any farther than that. Most of the time they just get a stupid look on their face and take their shit back.

this is funny...

fear mongering is by far the best medium of control

organized religion is nothing more then an excuse to be ignorant and biast

no one fuckin knows what happends to you when you die, i dont give a fuck who you are...no one will know until they die

I've always just believed that if you're a decent person with good intentions, you don't have anything to worry about. Humans are the only ones who came up with religion as a way to deal with death. Sure, I have my own ideas and opinions on other things, but I don't worry about what's going to happen to me after I die.

I got that same exact dollar when I was at work... by someone who traded in the VeggieTales game on PS2 lawlz. I was just like"Uh... haha*walks away*"

I thought for sure I was some lucky random winner of like $1000, but nope nope... just Jesus money =(

Hey in america what are the requirements to be a religion? Because in the UK is 10k + people put the same religion on the census then it is acknowledged as a real religion. That is why Jedi is a religion in the uk lol.

Sure i'll join roy. I'm going to guess the rules are something along the lines of drink beer, smoke pot and get laid alot.

Nah beer is gross. You're right on with the pot though, pot smoking is a requirement if you wanna join Roy. Actually that's really the only requirement....

EDIT: Holy shit! Jedi is really a religion there? That is so fucking funny I can't handle it.

Beer isn't considered a sin in Royism though is it? If not, I'm probably in.

So what do we do all day in Royism? Smoke pot and get in drum circles?

No just no. Over 10k people did put Jedi as their religion on the last census, however it was not and is not recognised by the Government as a religion.

Since the government does not recognize Jedism as an actual religion, the Jedis were finally lumped together under the "no religion" category.

I had a guy knock on my door while I was in college, right after I had gotten out of the shower and was wearing nothing but my boxers. I spoke to him for about half an hour through a 2 inch crack in the door, I only listened because he looked like he could be the older brother of a friend of mine and when he started getting into his spiel I was near breaking into laughter at the similarity. He wasn't a Jehovas Witness, he was a Babtist, I think.

If they bug you and mention hell in their talk, toss out this question. "Why would I worship a god that created people just to torture them? If god is all knowing, then he knows before you are creating what is in store for you. Do I really want to follow someone that is like a sadistic juvenile burning ants with a magnifying glass?"

Hell and Revelations is what led me away from Christianity, Revelations is a collection of stories about how the opressing Roman empire was going to get their come uppings for the persecution of early Christians.
