Remember When.....

I was sitting here thinking about when i first starting playing FFxi and the things that really made an impression on me that i now take for granted or that made the game so much fun at least IMO.
such as..
The first time i had like 50k in gil and thought i was rich lol
Leveling IN the nest or citadel and someone in another party would pull a mob and they would link and shouts of "LINK!!!!! ZONE!!!!! AGRRO !!!!! ZONE!!!"
would ensue lol and you would have like 60 people zoning and sitting outside of the dungeon waiting for mobs to reset.
The ever 1st NM I claimed "Blood pool Vortex " i believe is the correct name.
The 1st time i saw a Paladin in full AF gear in Lower Jueno <when that was the place to be > lol I could go on and on , but these are a few things that come to mind . Anyone else remember when....lolaladin: :biggrin:

i remember when people would make low level parties and party up in La Thien instead of soloin to 10... (stupid blm is hard!!)
i remember when i spent 10k on Woodworkin and thought i was the man, and now i i spend 10k, i can a piece of damn wood...
i remember when there would be eco-warrior/garrison shouts every day in the main cities, now you get lucky if u get a /tell for a damn party...

Yeesh, if you were really evil, you could shut down the Crawler's Nest to all exp parties for hours by just training a Knight Crawler to zone. Same with Garliage Citadel. One guy once pulled a doomed up from the very bowels of the citadel into the lv 32 exp area when I was exping there. Suffice to say, mass carnage ensued.

I've only played this game for a year so my stuff may not be as fun but here it is:

I remember when:

I was level 10ish and my cousins told me to trade to this mysterious ??? by the dem crag...then my shock when the gobby popped and killed me in one hit while they laughed. ; ; They were both on 75 jobs so they killed it after I died.

I believed some meanie in my ls that undead would actually follow you across the zone line. I think I still believed it until I got to Kazham lol...

I thought I was making good gil by farming bees and tele-whoring.

I didn't know about the F11 key lighting windower up...I wandered around in the dark the first 2 or 3 months of playing. h34r:

When I thought it was sooo hard getting around South Gustaberg and Konstach (sp?) without getting agro, and walking to the dunes was sooo far!

There was one ass wipe i can not remember his name , but he would aggro a mob and in the thick of a bunch of lower lvl parties he would tele or warp out and that mob would wipe out the zone. this was before they fixed the mpk thinggy lol pissed me off then but thinking about it now i wish i could do it to wipe out RMt prties

I remember when I was lv14 and had never seen past the Dunes. My boss told me he paid someone to escort him all the way to Sandy, I thought he was a god. I was never gonna venture that far.

I spent one day successfully walking from bastok to windy (4 deaths later). I couldnt have been higher than level 7.

I remember seeing people in my first party in Konschat with Auto-translate things in their macros and sayin "How did they get those neat little green and red things around it?"

I went sword and shield on Warrior till 30 so i could be a PLD. Lol. Sub-job was a 12 MNK and nobody even cared back then.

Joining my first LS, Getting Kazham keys, and all that fun stuff was exciting too.

I remember leveling in the maze of shakaramri..i loved fighting worms..that was the first time i saw like 200 exp recieved..i thought worms were mobs that gave a ton of exp..as opposed to like different other mobs.

I remember being a n00b..those were the good days.

My first ls i didn't really like..since i was still kinda new, and i asked a lot of questions about how the game worked and i was always ignored, i don't remember my 2nd..maybe it was TheSentinals..that was fun.

But my favorite ls was the Nightblades..loved that ls, and I miss it I loved rpin'g

hey remeber that party we were in at the attowah chasm fighting antlions and one of those antlions that pop from under the ground spawned during a fight and wiped us out? was a long time ago but a really fun party

I remember when I first got to Jeuno. I didn't know anything about gear and I think I was wearing defense rings and a level 7 robe or something on my rdm, whm, and blm. A nice garka friend of my cousin's took one look at my sad gear and loaned me a ton of gear on the spot. I had no clue for about a week how nice he was because I didn't realize someone loaning a noob that they didn't even know 2 astral rings was a big deal...then I saw them on ah and freaked lol.

/cough...umm so yeah no worries Tenk you'll get that gear back someday. :wink:

Oh I love this...

I was a Rdm/war who tanked in the dunes way back when. I was the only one with provoke, so it was all up to me. I only had war leveled, and I wanted to party.

Running around with hatchets in Ghelsba Outpost trying to beat everyone to the trees, and dancing for joy when I got an elm log. I felt so rich back then.

How about exploring Chateau d'Oraguille and then entering this sewer, making me to go to Bostaunieux Oubliette and meeting with a timely death.

I also can't forget when I used to throw all my beastman seals out, I was definately pissed off when I realized that they were worth keeping. ; ;

i remember i was a sub jobless War in bastok and a guy named gafgarion <left game a while ago /missed> checked my gear and asked if i had i link shell, i said no he gave me a pearl to the noe defunct Aether blue next day was my birthday and i mentioned that to him he gave me like 15k in gil and a set of lvl 15 gear. he told me the gear was something to look forward to so lvl up quick. I told him i would pay him back as soon s i could raise the gil. Gafgarion told me dont worry he said repay him by taking care of a newer noob when i can. on occasion i do that now and then people seem so much nicer then . dont get me wrong still alot of really cool people in game now but back then i just seemed differant

I had my cousins tell me to keep them, but no one said why. I kept what I got (mostly) but I missed out on a lot because there was no way I was going to drop precious crystals or lizard tails etc. for Seals!

I claimed Spook with my mouse before I learned how to properly select a target.

Trading bat wings relentlessly to an NPC, 2 for 100g...Then realizing I can stack them to 12 (Yes my inventory was FILLED with wings) and selling them in the AH for 2,000G. Good times.

A JP taught me how to properly used Souleater. Told me to combine it with Guillotine... I was amazed, then I died.

Running around the outside Sozu Rogberry's room having him targetted and unclaimed. Wondering where the hell he is. Then the JP inside came back from being AFK and promptly killed it. Scwall and I were all like, "Ohhhhh....Ahhhhh" after figuring out how to open the door.

I really miss being a noob =~(

I remember getting into Jeuno first..on my way was tough..I died my first time in the Juenger forest? Anywhoo I met someone on my way who was higher leveled and I asked him if he could escort me to Jeuno cause it was my first time. He said yeah and I was really happy hehe

And when I entered Upper Jeuno, I thought it was the largest city ever!! (I thought it was like 2x as big as it really is..) it was so cool

However with gear..ehh lol I had level 7 gear and an underleveled sub and i was like 23 >_> SO i started over with Canitoch and I knew my mistakes and fixed them.

Oh yeah, I remember meeting my first japanese player!! Lol it was when I just started on my old character, I always said hello to people and /waved and then one time I said hello to a person and I got:

"[Please use the translate-function] [I don't understand English]"
"How do i do that?"
"[Please use the translate-function]"
"Huh?? How??"
"[I speak Japanese] [Please use the translate function]"
"HOW DO I DO THAT????!?!?"

He later just ran away and stopped talking..probably blsted my noobness lol

iiiiii remember running back to my mog house after every fight for 2 days to regain my hp, on the third day i finally figured out what happens when my mithra would pray. >^^;<

back b4 i knew about the job system and sub job ettiquite, i had ambitions of being a mnk/smn, simply because i wished to throw fists and have ifrit swingin along with me.

theeeeeen when i asked the lvl 50 to party when i was lvl 8...

and and and and when our party linked dhamels and wiped in tahronghi, iiiii zoned...all the way to jeuno. :biggrin:

you definately are not alone...

but easily my favorite moment methinks was when i was in like a lvl 7 party with 5 japanese tarutarus, all we did was kill and /bow

Ahhh, the good old days. I remember I used to run in circles around mobs while soloing because I was trying to practice getting behind them for when I got Sneak Attack. XD And how I used to think Silk Thread was so awesome because it sold for a whole 200 gil to NPCs. >.< I didn't really find out about the Auction House til level 8 or so, I think. I also remember not differentiating between different mobs of the same family. I had killed plenty of Bumblebees easily, so I attacked a Giant Bee thinking it'd be just as easy and got owned. XD I didn't find out about /check til I was almost level 10 I think. XD

I also remember how I never went to the Dunes until I was a THF18/MNK9. XD Back then, people leveled in Maze of Shakhrami and Buburimu Penninsula all the time. I remember even people from Bastok and Sandy coming across the sea to level in the Maze. And Buburimu actually used to be crowded! Ahhh, good times. ^^

lol I used to throw my Beastman Seals away too!

I remember leveling in Tahronghi and the Maze of Shakrami. Back when the dunes was 16-20, not 9-18.

I remember the first time I saw a lvl 75. I was lvl 4, no sub. I followed him around forever checking out all his gear.

I remember my first time in jeuno. I was lvl 20, fresh out of the dunes. It was before everyone was level 75. I had never seen more than one or two at a time. Then I was surounded by 75s. My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

I remember all four times I've quit the game. >.<
