Announcement Reputation - The Return?

This is exactly what I wanted to see.

Great stuff, maybe we could customize the moogles, maybe add some more models?

Not adding more in the bar, just maybe specializing the way you can make yours look?

Well there's not a real way to customize it. There could be three different images right now. One for someone who has negative rep, one for someone who has disabled rep and one for someone who has positive rep. That's it though. ;x

Yes! More boondoggles for our posts! MORE!

I loved the old system. To be a bit blunt this seems a bit pointless if theres not different levels and you can't leave positive or negative. =/

Not being able to click a little button doesn't stop the message from being sent, though. You can still leave negative or positive feedback for things, you just actually have to say something. You just can't click the good/bad post button and leave the comment area blank anymore.

This way also makes it a lot easier to see if someone is intentionally trying to troll you with the comment system too.

Anyways, I do agree with Crumpet with saying that I liked the old system better than this one. I feel that I can just make a comment to someone by either posting on the thread or posting on their VMs. I guess its an attempt at getting rid of PC+1s but I feel I won't use either of the new functions much really >.>;.

I think it should be enforced as such, tbh. Any pointless one-liners that don't relate to the topic at hand should be deleted (with punishment given if it's a repeated thing) since we have this "rep" thing now. That's just me though.

IE, QFT posts. Such as this one. My post, not Rappas

wow ive finally someone worse than the blackeyed pees. holy crap.

i disagree with you because i think its a good way to give feedback without trying to give someone "the red dot" or trying to bring them down a peg.

I think Make got the jist of it. Then again you may have been a user who actually used it for what it was designed for and not abused it!

You well...you're just a tool. :( jk I <3. The way I see it, if there's a controversial thread where someone doesn't want to get bandwagoned against (it happens) or someone doesn't want to post in some threads and just say something it's easy that way. Not all of our members are outspoken.

I'm not saying it a bad feature or a useless feature, I'm just saying I preferred the old system and I don't know how much I'll use it. Seemed more fun to see how much rep someone has y'know? And I know it was ruined by a couple people, but I just liked it better the old way Q_Q.

I know and I'm aware of that. I've been a thorn in Miros's butt about this since he started talking about bringing it back lol.

You've been in Miros's butt that long? Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

How was the old system abused? I don't understand how it can be...

Because people would leave comments with a rate up, (sometimes with no comment at all) just to bump up the persons green dots, same with rate downs. Rating down someone because you don't like them or vice versa is how it was mainly abused. I think this is fine, if you want to leave a comment, leave a comment. That and, moogles are cute.

Well not only that but they'd leave nasty comments on the rate downs <_<. I don't feel rating up a friend for no reason was really abuse. Everyone has done it at least once I'm sure lol.

No but it sure led to an influx of, "Lolrate^threadhere!" which was close to the most stupid thing i've seen on the site.

personally I only rated people when I thought they posted something great, but everyone wasn't like that :P Why I didn't mind it, there were a lot of people rating everyone of their friends up as much as possible, then rating people they don't like down, and eventually just rating random people to get to rate up again.

I got a lot of rate downs from people that didn't like me saying simply "cock" or "dick" to a random post :P Anyway, I thought it was fun reading those stupid little comments. And I don't think it really mattered either, I mean, you need to be really lame to get sad from a rate down. If the first thing you think when you see that red dot is "Oh no, someone doesn't like me!" or "Oh no, someone doesn't agree with me!", you have other issues you need to sort out first.

I agree.

I said it before, my very first intoduction to the rateup/down system was a little red dot with an insult attached from someone I didn't know based on a discussion that had nothing to do with 'it'. I didn't care, then my very second was someone like 'how can your first be red, here have a green' lol.

Regardless of whether I got a green or red I just liked reading the comments for the reasoning, and if there was no jusifiable reasoning mentioned, well whatever, that person is a douche =)

A little green bar meant nothing anyway to most people.
