Now that Resident Evil 5's demo has landed on Xbox Live -- and will hit Playstation 3 soon -- it's time to start talking. Who's played the demo so far? What do you think? Planning to buy the full game?

I got my ass handed to me on the first level, with the villager swarm and big hammer dude coming at me, but did better on the Shanty Town section. Unfortunately, I had to leave for work before I could get to the boss.

I haven't had a chance to try co-op, but the bit that I've played looks very promising in terms of sharing resources and all the rest. I can't wait to get the full game.

Haven't even gotten to play the demo yet, but just watching the video I prereserved it last week. As much as I thoroughly enjoyed RE4, I'm sure this is gonna great!

I have watched the demo, haven't played it myself yet. Looks pretty badass.

As far as I understand switching weapons with directional mid run is the way to go bc of the speed of these zombies. Looks as great as 4, as difficult maybe more so.

Just hope we don't hear anymore Racism cries.

Yeah, I was happy when I saw you could map the weapons to the directional pad. That made a huge difference. As for racism complaints, I think they'll die down because there were definitely more white people in the demo than there were in the original video. I'd say the developers got the memo.

It was silly given the location the game is based. People shouldn't wear thongs if they get bent so easily from bunching .

I've pre-ordered the regular edition on PS3. Not going to waste my money on the "Collector's edition" seeing as it's VASTLY INFERIOR to the US CE.

I did not get what i wanted from this demo. I think the controls are horrid, but whats new its a RE game. The inventory sucks, whats new its a RE game. Thank god for the d-pad weapon sort.

The gameplay was ok but nothing more for me. I still think the co-op is a gimmick to include an ethnic person into a main role, more of a fight against the idiots screaming this game was racist.

Honestly if this is all RE5 has then its no where near the quality of Deadspace. Given its only a demo and i am a huge RE fan i will hope we can all use the excuse... "Its just a demo" and have a valid argument when the game is released.

It was a fun demo, I don't think I'll buy the game when it's released, but its a definite rental. I love the new Directional quickchange, and I'm liking the new Co-Op style to the game. It's seems a little easy though, I had no problems with either the Axe guy or the Chainsaw boss.

They took out what made Resident Evil 4 stand apart (Actually good controls to the game), and from what i've seen they've taken out what made the older Resident Evil games good (awesome puzzles).

I don't have very high hopes for this.

I am in your head... Or you in mine?;;

I think my main problem was fiddling around with the control scheme. I was fighting the camera more than I was fighting villagers. When I did the Shanty Town with the default controls, it was better. I think Type A is supposed to be closer to RE4 style, so we'll see how it goes when I get a chance to fool with it again.

My friend was bitching about how bad this was today in school. He generally has shit choice in games however, gonna download when I get a chance to get online. I hope it's better than what everyone is saying tho.

I preordered the Collectors Edition. And feel the complete opposite as Makelith. I can't wait to play this game.

A demo should show us what a game will be like. Most demo's suck though. Half the demo's i've played were horrible, but the game ended up being much better. Who knows?

I'm downloading it now and hope to post "imo" if I'm not too engaged.

So, what's the verdict on the game's control system? I've heard nothing but whining on some forums and blogs over:

The controls;
The "bad" AI;
and from PS3 gamers, 5gb mandatory install. (Seriously Capcom?)

I don't mind having installs that much personally but 5gb? I know I can't exactly complain that much because of my new hard drive but seriously, you'd think Capcom would've sorted things like this out by now after playing around with DMC4 (Their first attempt at installs, fair enough) and SFIV (SFIV has an optional install of 2gb I believe).

Meh, either way though, I've cancelled my pre-order due to probably not having enough money when the time comes. After February is done, no more games buying until Summer for me.

Saw my roommate playing this a few days ago, he was bitching non-stop about the controls. After watching him play, I had no interest in trying it for myself. It's extremely disappointing given how great RE4 was.
