Resistance 2 revealed in Game Informer

Rainbow 6 though was on the 360 back then, quietly being the best online console game while people jerked off the Gears of War.

As for large battles.. Warhawk does 32 pretty well, but I agree Resistance with 40 is a clusterfuck. Just remember you don't actually have to play those big 40 player matches. It's mostly just fun to me for nonteam deathmatch. Go around killing and dying every few seconds. No depth but cheap thrills.

It needs good net code but after Resistance that's obviously going to happen.

As for the rest, no guarantees but I'm cautiously optimistic. The best part of Resistance to me was the offline, but campaign is always most important to me. Just like with Halo, if the offline is good then I'm happy. Warhawk is the only game good enough to be a winner on it's online alone for any console, but they should have made an offline with bots like Unreal Tournament or Star wars battlefront.

Deleted some of your quote so i can answer directly Fire. Rainbow is exactly the game i was talking about from that time period. GeoW at that point was just so "Cool" in peoples mind that it had to be the best online then lol. It was not for me. Warhawk does great with larger scale battles but its also heavy heavy focused on vehicles and the strategy is not so deep. Appreciate your view on resistances 40 man matches, i know now i am not alone there. And sure i can admit i lean a little hard on the game because of that, again as you said the lower body count matches worked well on some maps. Resistance online as far as connectivity goes was great, i bring it up to this day on live Fire. I honestly do, "Why dont we get dedicated servers for a game like Halo and CoD where 2+ million people are online at all times a day, even resistance had them." I argue that point and will be very happy if Resistance2 follows that direction. For me this gen so far with shooters, as far as campaign go its Resistance and Halo3 then others come after. Resistance being the longer i guess you can say the campaign was more bang for the buck.
Also have any of you checked out that FPS coming out Frontlines??? The graphics blow but please check gametrailers.com and see some of the directions this game is taking. I caould be a major sleeper.

hehe, I don't think Resistence's graphics were from the generation before at all when they came out O.o at least not console generation. Computer maybe.. but not console.

and ya Frontlines looks fun :3

Yea, and one of the huge things that they were able to pull off in resistance was the processing of things like glass shatters being unique, and those hedgehog mines having individual physics for each spike. The graphical environments were above what we were used to from xbox/ps2 age, but there were a few pc games that blew it out of the water from at least a year prior.

40 man is too much. Give me 16 Player deathmatch any day over something as ridiculous as 40.

And I disliked the Frontlines demo very much.

ah, the demo was a let down? I've only seen the trailers and it looked fun :P

Go to your local GameStop. They have demos. Picked up my Turok, Frontlines, and God of War PSP demos the other day.

Lanian the demo was terrible i agree but it was the campaign. This is a game the devs made for MP>Campaign, in that order. The multiplayer is supposed to be 32 people dedicated servers and looks to have alot alot of depth. The visuals are just so damn bad tho lol. Check the gametrailers videos of multiplayer classes. Looks like a good direction if anything.

how are those visuals bad? my god you have retardedly high standards.. lol..

Do i really? Its sad if a game is released now and is visually comparable to a game on a console of the past. Would i still
play a game like Frontlines with the visuals lacking? Yes i would.
I do want to have fun and enjoy great gameplay. I just want my games to look as good as they can. If they dont i call
em like i see em.
2004... Doom 3. For its time its more impressive then 80% of the market today.
Looks as good as alot of games now even lmao.

see, I still don't see how Frontlines graphics are a big deal.. they are still better than almost all of last gen console-wise. Computer has always been fairly ahead graphically than consoles.

They better be with the price that some of the cards run.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying. I wish more games released multiplayer demos, even if it was just one or two maps to get a feel for pacing and what not. If it is anything like the campaign though, I will pass. But like Fire said, a bad campaign will drive people away, sort of like what happened with Jericho. It might be a good game in the end, but if the demo sucks, it's like shooting yourself in the foot. You are right though that in the videos, it does look pretty decent. It will take more than decent to top CoD4 for many people though.

Most likely Frontlines wont get a warm welcome and will be reviewed bad everywhere. The demo is pretty much how the actual campaign is, bad lol. Just some of the steps they are taking in multiplayer are incredible. The job classes type of thing is great from what they have shown, like the R.C. pilot class or EMP specialist. To me that looked cool as hell to shoot an EMP in air and take down a chopper hahahaha.
The air strike is even a completly different view of airstrikes, in fact there are like 6 types of them. I just like the developers creativity and hope some other bigger named companies would copy some of it lol. I think CoD does not get taken off till Rainbow 2 comes out.

If your game is entirely about multiplayer, then don't put too much effort into a campaign. Make it like Unreal Tournament 3, Star Wars Battlefront or just lob it off like Warhawk. A shitty single player on a multiplayer game is only going to hurt you. If a single player game sucks, I don't even try the online and if I dislike a demo I avoid a game.

Typically speaking, I will play online because I want to play a shooter and I've beaten all my campaign portions. So if I'm going to buy something for online only it has to be what I'm going to be playing online, which means I have to say, "I want to play this online, not COD4, or Warhawk."

not terribly much information but good news that they claim it's "lag free" with 60 players :P here's hoping it really is gonna be.

And I really look forward to doing online co-op :D specially cause it's a different story than single player so it won't be just the same stuff I'll be sing in Single Player so I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Interesting they are changing it from the main character's perspective instead of a narration. I found the Narration ok, and fairly unused much so it was a nice change.

That's a mean trailer lol I want more.
