Not really a flame, but again not really anything else but a flame so I'll just put it here, if you feel the need go ahead and move it.
Yes, another flame-ish about the Brady Guide:
Just want to note a few funny yet stupid points:
Pg 19: "The Final Fantasy XI Beastmaster, perhaps with a White Mage support job, is renowned for its ability to work independently."(plausible)-->
<--(continues next paragraph)"Early on, the Red Mage is a standart job with great potential for solo work, although this approach ebbs at medium and high levels.(LOL)
Summary for first point: LOL. RDM soloing only improves as you get higher, and hugely boosts after Refresh and Phalanx!
Pg 40: "The Warrior is very similar to the Paladin. These melee charecters exist to defend a party from harm. On the front line, they deal modest damage.
Summary for second point: Again, LOL. MODEST damage?! WAR can do quite more than a DRK or SAM or other direct hit melee job, at higher levels. You can't say to me that a WAR/THF doing SATA + Warcry + Meat Mithkabob + Berserk + Raging Rush is MODEST damage!
Pg 42: "As stated, Warriors aren't in a group to deal damage of a serious nature, but are relied upon for taking damage as a tank and protecting others.
Summary of third point: BIGGEST LOL YET. After level 30 when you hit the 60% advanced job time, having a WAR tank is about the rarest thing you can see EVER. There is one PT around level 60 that goes DIRECTLY by this guide and has a WAR tank and a setup of WAR/WAR/WHM/BLM/RDM/DRK. LOL.
Pg 43: "WARRIOR/PALADIN - This is a reversal of the usual combination. A Warrior that has a Paladin as a support job will have the ability to survive under grueling circumstances. With wonderful armor, supreme defense, and the Hit Points to match, it seems like this combo would be unstoppable. What gets in the way is this duo's limited magic. Paladins usually have light magic. When you switch Paladin to a support job, this is compounded. Still a solid and enjoyable combination, the Warrior/Paladin is all the tank you will ever need.
Summary of final point: One word: =X! This is about the worst job combination around, and is in NO WAY AT ALL a tank.
OK, I'm done, reply all you want, cant really agree with the book here without having alot of people here troll you around for a good day.
