what do you guys think?

I'm just curious as to what the general consensus has to say about returning gil/expensive items if you and an in game friend get into an arguement. I mean isn't it still your hard earned items/gil that was earned?

just a thought.

If you gave/lent to that other person:

1) Morally, yeah, they're obligated to pay it back especially if they say they will.
2) If you get in a fight before receiving payment owed, all bets are off.
3) Some people have low standards and don't feel any obligation to pay it back.

It boils down to this:

Yeah, it's your hard-earned gil, but it was traded to someone else, in effect, you are forever out that much gil.

Yes but in the realm of things isn't it really your gil that was earned? i mean a lend is a lend. I swear we need a credit union here or Something rofl!.

But in all honesty, if i was a debt collector i could rake in like 5 vermys >< i wonder if there are really people out there that just prey on the nice and never give back ><......

*edit* did i just say i wonder? ><

Yeah you did say I wonder. Good going Jyak, you are no longer my favorite Tarutaru. I take that back of course, but you know.

Now a question for you big guy. I borrowed a woman's virginity once. I didn't give it back after we broke up. (Mind you this was years ago!) She never asked for it back though. Am I a mean person?

You can't borrow that, silly cat.

The key to lending things out is to not expect it returned because chances are it won't be.

You still owe me ribs.

That and.....actually, wait, how about...

Earn it your fucking damn self!

I have never borrowed anything from anybody lol
Sure I'll help you get some items, but I'm not lending out my gear to you.

I am borrowing iron chainmail armor from my wife.

I am borrowing a Scorp Harness soon, and a Bone Scythe +1 from a very very close friend, whom I know will track my arse down should I fail to return them to him.

Yeah I agree with Tristam

remember talking to Tymon and Tarn in a chatroom tarn had borrowed his pld gear(byrnie, rosebogen, etc.) before he quit for a time. He was mighty proud but deserved his stuff back since it really wasnt tarn's it was tymon's hard earned stuff. This was about a year ago I think didnt like him too much back then until tarn gave him his due credit to me=) (if this isn't you tymon sorry for some reason your name comes to mind)

It's not about whether you like them or not, if you use something of value to them whether it be some 1337 gear or a personal "inheritance" from a friend of theirs who quit then yeah they deserve his/her crap back by every right

:shok:

Anyhow....

When you hit that trade button, the ball is no longer in your court. It's like when you pass a basketball off to a team mate. From there, you have no control over what he does. You can only hope that at some point you'll get the ball back so that you can make a play.

PS: lol, we have the same name... With exception to the Jya. :B

Thats why I only lend things that are of extreme value to me to people that are within reach for example my bf and his friend.
They lose it or don't give it back, ooooh there will be hell to pay.

There are few people I would lend items or gear to just because I know they will give it back when I ask them to.
Likewise, if I borrow something from a friend you betcha I'm gonna give it back when I can get one of my own or if I'm done with it for good.

If you do lend something of value to someone who you think is your friend....good luck in getting it back. If someone asks you if they can borrow a SH, lets say, then tell them to give you some collateral that you KNOW they would need (and the more expensive the better). Usually...that would stop them in their tracks and make them think >.>

But hey, if they do keep it instead of giving it back then you can sell the collateral for gil then maybe get your item back :P

ROFL mistra, no matter what you will always be my favorite manthra FTW. ><

ok here is an example:
Player J is friends with player M. In and out of game, Player M asks Player J for a pair of X slacks. Worth 6 million gil. Player J says "Ok, ill lend you the gil." Buys the X slacks and then forgets about the situation. Player J then finds out that there is LOLdrama and excommunicates player M, however expects lolgil back.

Should he? LOL my thoughts exactly to those saying no ^^

I BELIEVE THE ANSWER IS STEAMED RUTABAGA

Don't lend anything online, EVER!

Unless you are a walk away from the borrower...

This advice will save you worries and headaches in the future.

I've had friends "quit" the game and come back after giving me items/money. Even though they didn't ask for the stuff back, I gave it to them anyway.

But i want my waffles back ><
