Rising Prices...

lol, remember that Lv30 NIN body piece I was b*tching about in pretty much every one of these "raising prices" flames? The last 20 sold were like 80-85k for the first like 12, then to 100k, then immediately to 210k. WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE?!
Also, in one day, that Nikk(whatever) katana for NIN30 went from 600k to 900k. Just when I was about to just give up on the NM and buy it then sell it back when I was done. Now I can't. I also highly doubt these prices are going down.

gah I dont know why the hell Nins are buying that pos body armor, Eva>Att at that lvl, tired of seeing these people trying to be DD nins below 65, it just dosent work damnit. As for the Nikko thingy, if I remember correctly I have seen it as high at 1.5mil earlier in the year, the price of that katana never stays at the same price for long.

i thought the nanban thing was good when i first used it, its not, no noticable increase, and the 3 evasion from windy thing(25) went a much longer way, not getting hit meant less hate lost, that and it was cheaper when i bought it
one thing SE could do to curb the inflation is remove some gil from the system: raise prices from NPCs, raise taxes, lower beastmen gil drops, airship prices, choco prices, things like that. if SE implemented more gil sinks, and raised the current ones, things should improve

The easiest way to fix this inflation is QUIT BUYING IT!!! If 'barely adaquate' gear is what we have to use to bring the outrageous prices down ... then I am for one up for it. Black Cloak is a nice example, and a very nice thing for BLM around 70 ish. Hard as it is to believe it use to be 80k its currently inflated to 900k. I mean if your saving for an item that was 200k.. then dont settle for the 900k price.. dont buy it, it then will have to come back to reasonable price or keep going back to crafters inbox. The problem is peoples willingness to pay these absurd prices.

No... the easiest way to fix inflation would be for SE to either increase drop rates, ban 24/7 farmers or get off your lazy asses and farm stuff/kill nm's for your own items.

I'm just... not buying stuff. Stashing all my money on mules until February or so when, hopefully, the prices will come back down. Then I'll start buying gear again.

Until then, just consumables and spells. Someday, sanity will return... or 200mil will fall on my head. Probably have a better chance with the latter.

banning farmers wont fix it, that will make it worse, more items in the system in ratio to the amount of gil makes the prices go down, as well as lower it on the Supply and Demand side too. increasing drop rates would help, but the best way would be remove gil from the system, making the remaining gil worth more

All these items you keep talking about (SH, Hauby, etc.) being really expensive used to all be really rare and considered the best. Guess what? Being the best isnt and shouldnt be cheap.
Agreed
Its to easy to look 1337 now, this is just rising the bar to put the wanabe's back where they belong. You don't NEED +1 everything to be good at your job, look at the JA's. They kick 3/4's of the NA's ass (notice i only say 3/4) at playing there job, and they don't NEED a SH or a Hauby to do it. If you think your worth wearing the gear YOU WILL GET THE GEAR you'll find a way to do it, if your to lazy to work for it and want to stand at the AH and bitch then you aren't meant to own it. Lazy bitchers don't need gear to improve there skill, they have no skill. Learn to play then worry about being 1337.
Anyone with half a bussiness brain can make money in this game, but i guess most teenyboppers can't figure that aspect out.

God damn am I the only one getting sick of all this bitching about prices? Every time I get into parties lately all I hear is "fuck this game" "these prices suc, im gunna quit." Then quit! I mean damn its a game, why would you spend all your time talking about how much you hate it? And as for those of you who cry about hating NM camping or farming, if you are an intelligent person you can make money in this game with hardley no farming or NM camping. And guess what? Its a damn game, so dont like the prices of items, then dont buy them. If you want the best then fucking work and get the best. People bitch about things like O.Kote price as if it was always some easily affordable item, when the reality is a long ass time ago they were considered rare and "1337," and now they are considered the norm. All these items you keep talking about (SH, Hauby, etc.) being really expensive used to all be really rare and considered the best. Guess what? Being the best isnt and shouldnt be cheap.

Damn Zoo.. and you've always complained about people being gimps.
.. and yes.. these items you speak of are considered the 'norm' now.. Hence the major problem within it all. I suppose since you have all these '1337' items the price spike that is going on in the server makes you look superior? Not saying that you don't deserve it. Not saying that the guy who would have to farm silk for a 100 hours wouldn't deserve it either (or whatever the calcuation that he came up with was). Problem is.. it's a game.. game is intended to be fun, and although fun can be different from one individual to the next.. it's still a game nontheless. And yah.. a "smart" player sees no items of said item up and decides to raise the price... or sees one up and decides to buy it and then sell said item up for more to make some profit.. Or hell buys all of the item and decides to store it and slowly sell it limiting the supply while the demand remains the same.. yes.. supply and demand works the same.. if you can control the supply you make absolute profit.

...all these "smart" people cause all these other "smart" people to question why they even bother (or buy gil.) But until most've people decide not to bother, price jacking will be acceptable and continued to be blamed on gilsellers.. although the root of the problem comes from thinking like yours.

But, I still like ya.. even if we dont' see eye to eye all of the time.

I complain about people being gimp in the head, not the gear. However it happens that most time the two come hand in hand...unless they buy gil.

Vang had a good quote in his sig one time that was the truth, somthing like Skill is using the right gear in the right situation, and knowing what to do in those situations. Many view things such that gear = skill, which is only partially true. True, the more str gear one has, the higher the WS's dmg will be. But skill is also know when to use what, a samurai would be kinda dumb to use an entire str equip set for TP, and would be equally as dumb to use his sniper rings +1 for SATA tachi: gekko. Gear also depends which job we are talking about and which situation...like a bard in a cannon is pretty much 100% skill to keep ballad and melee songs up as well as pull for chain 22 or w/e. There are certain things that help...like maybe a manteel, but for the most part you cant buy that skill. People seem to think you can. Be a skilled player...and an intelligent and patient person, and the "1337" gear will come. Most of the people I see complain about the prices are the ones that brag about playing since NA release but have a net worth a quarter of my neck armor and highest job at lvl 65 and don't know basics about their own job. Those type of players arent going to get the best gear...because guess what? Its supposed to be for the best. That shit used to be rare, I remember when Odhinn was a fucking pimp for having an SH and Cross Counters as a monk, now its average. I'm not sorry one bit that they cost so much, price is just catching up more with demand.

I rented a chocobo earlier for 1337 gil.

...I'm not lying.
