RMT Countermeasures

300,000,000,000

Good god that's a lot of zeros. Go Go SE. I just wish my damned commander's cape would have sold before all this deflation (>_<). I should have never bought that thing.

You guys make it seem that everyone is just gonna let the prices of items drop, Hahaha this might happen for a few items Gilsellers may controll but in all honesty most ppl on this server are greedy and they will do what ever it takes to get that extra gil or two.

Don't expect a huge change if any.

Remeber inflation works 2 was dark. With out the people being able to buy gil to get wahtever they want prices have to fall as the undercuttng will start. Someone has to be "able" to to buy your high priced item. With gil gone from the economy those high priced items will get nipped away at by the ah fees as they don't sell and come down.

In the short term you are right, but if there is a significant drop in the amount of available gill, market forces will take over (undercutting and so-forth) that will depress prices.

If square keeps this up, then we should see prices return to reasonable levels.

There are many player that can play with the AH price for months on end.
I know that if you place a item on AH and loose you will take a big hit in the wallet yay for Jeuno Tax, Im just not gonna set my hopes up high.

Damn, and I fried like 29m in two attempts to get a Noble's last week..

I spent over 20M on leveling BLM I don't think I'll be sseeing that money back which really is a good thing,

Price drops are always a good thing for everyone, I hope this keeps up so that the 360ers can enjoy the game/

Nothing beats those 2000-player influxes that leave towns flooded with "wher i xp" "u got gilz?" "wts water crstal 500g plzzz" "PLS HELP WINDRST M1-1 200g {Reward}!!1"

I hafto say I'm feeling something, but it ain't joy..

Its gonna be bad for a few months like this but most will hopefuly look things up online and know what to do from the start.

only time will tell though.

Don't forget that figure is game-wide, so it's only about 10 billion per server. Still, that's a lot of gil considering how few accounts were holding it. For 700 people, that's around 430 million gil savings on average. Imagine how many Yagudo drinks and rolanberry pies that could buy you.

EDIT: Missed second page >_<

I know I was new. Everyone at a point was. But that doesn't mean I went around shouting for gil or help the second I logged in. I went out, I fought a Rarab, I died. I went out, I killed a Tiny Mandragora and stuck with that for a while...blah blah blah, eventually picked up on how things worked. My first party was in Shakhrami, and it's better than Valkurm ever will be.

What I mean by my post, is that not all newbs that come will be nice, or willing to learn..or even willing to listen at all. Alot will be the same generic crap we already have, people getting thru Qufim as 22blm/1whm, people barking orders at their party and expecting things to be done exactly the way they say just because they're leader, and a bunchof guys with magical self-filling wallets. (Thanks to the recent account killings we won't see much of that for a while, but it's still probably gonna happen). I personally think we can live without the guys that are certain that a L9-15 party can kill crabs, just because there's a L15 person. Even worse when this guy is on an advanced job so he should know better but somehow doesn't.

Unless Shakhrami somehow becomes a normal XP spot again, Dunes is gonna become an even greater hell than it is now with the influx of players...

A dear friend of mine was in Jugner waiting on a NM pop.. and watched 10+ gilsellers "DC" in small increments.. HOPES were high that they got banned.. until they came back.. /sigh

I'm curious if anyone notices any particular GilSeller's missing...
I did a google search for gil and see that most parasites are still in business. Hmmm... wonder if it's true that SE only banned the ones that were using illegal programs to magically manifest gil.

If that was the case it would be a small percentage of them, I think...
Here's hoping that's not the case !!!
It would be nice if everyone in the game were actually "playing" the game.. and not contributing to the ruination of it.

and as for the newbs.. I don't mind up and coming players at all. I encourage them. Remember without new players, this game would be a dying beast. I don't know about you but I'd like to be able to keep playing for awhile. As for those "hands-out" players, what I've done in the past is appease them with a very minor contribution.. like crystals, and cheap gear. Send them to the AH and answer any questions they might have.

That's just me though...

I had one hit me up the other day and ask me for advice on making gil.
educated noob.. was asking what crafting might be quickest to give profit, what NM's he could go after at his lvl, what areas were safe to farm at, and how I make my money (tele-farming mostly, and BCNM's etc...) he apparantly did a /sea and judged by rank, and job. Picked me? I think he picked the least likely person to ask.. but hey, I told him what I could... he shoulda looked for a floating "M".. which I refuse to turn on because of many of those that do, do so for a status symbol only... ok.. /end rant

There was a gil hack that involved modifying encrypted data in a specific memory location to show $100M gil in inventory. It's my understanding that the gil had to be traded to another character immediately for it to work. I hope that's what they fixed.

Couldnt SE have given me 1 of that 300 billion? @.@

On a serious note, yay ;o

It's already effecting our server as well. I've been checking in on a certain auction site that allows the trade of items, money, and characters for online games and I've noticed a decline in cost for gil. When I last checked one week ago, it was being sold for as low as one Million Gil for $10 American. Now, it's gone up to almost $30. This instantly shows an effect on the gil sellers. With priceing on gil going up as fast as gas does in Nevada, we'll definitly be seeing a difference in the Auction House prices. ^_^

My advise to everyone who does not buy gil, to take advantage of this situation and go do some BCNM battles. ^_^

I'm excited to see the outcome of this change to the game.

No... no! My precious flies!

F_CK YOU SE!

...

Last time I did a search the Flies were on so I think they're safe at the moment.

Sweet, so they did manage to go down on that GM. I know they said they were going to but you know them, lazy good-for-nothing bastards...

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I got the IGE email that there are out of gil on Feb 6th during the day, and on Feb 7th I reveived another email from the affiliate manager saying that currency is back in stock and all is good.

I am not saying SE didn't do stuff, I guess I am saying that it hampered the RMT business for a whole day ...., at the most.
