ok about 1-10 times a day i get a tell from a RMT saying "buy gil from this website for $39 bla bla bla bla..... i just wondered if anyone else got these tells and whether you meant to report them to a GM or anythin <.< cause its starting to get annoying
 
They happen to people who have bought gil in the past, why do you think they have your name =P


Nah jk, actually this is probably happening to quite a few people on the server, myself included, and as of yet there doesn't seem to be any sort of fix. Report it, but I'm sure someone else already got the tell and reported it as well (I do it anyways).
 
Everyone is getting the tells. The RMT basically do a /sea all and then go down the list Alpha order.

I've heard there is a plug-in if you use windower to filter out the tell but I'm not sure what it is called. You would have to look at the windower website.

Ontopic: Happens in WoW all the time. No surprise that they do it in XI more often now with XIV coming out next year (or 2011).
 
Actually, Romper, the spamming of the /tells began in full force when SE allowed the 2 week free trial.

It's just a shame that they don't limit free trial subscriptions to /tells to only 4 or 5 people. If that were the case, I'd never be bothered, and I would just /comfort to the first few A's. >.>
 
Get chatmon for windower if you're on pc. It gets rid of most of the /tells.
 
Oh and if you get a /tell with chatmon on report it to the makers of the plugin. It'll help them update the database of rmt /tells to block whenever new ones are made.
 
Yeah, they do that to everyone. Kinda annoying. I /blist add (insert fail name here) Never bothered by the same RMT twice. ^^b

yeh... ive never /blisted them but ive never had a tell from the same one twice lol so its just a waste of time imo
 
Yup, everyone's getting them. A lot of the time someone with a name beginning with an A in my LS will say that the RMT is incoming and I'll blist them before they can get to me.
 
Unless you report it to special task force or whatever, there's ZERO point in sending a tell to a Gm. They'll just tell you to fuck off, there's nothing you can do, send an email to STF aka.. STFU. No offense, but I'm sure that's exactly what they said to do.. "Thanks for the advice, send an email."
 
This is what you should do. Whenever they spam you one tell you spam them back with 30-40 lines of tells with random text. They will log off right after, did that all the time recently and it work lol.

next thing i got was
Character is changed area or no longer online. I was left alone for almost whole day until a different RMT tell and I repeat it. If everyone do it, imagine how much spam those RMTs get from each person? 40 lines of spam text.

LMAO! I GOT A NEW TYPE OF RMT MESSAGE!

It's actually quite amusing to think that they've thought up a knew way to get you to log onto this "complaint" website. The message I received was as follows (I think this was the name, but if it was misspelt I'm sorry):

Nichola: !

[GM] Your account will be frozen in next hour etc etc blah blah http://complaints.blahblah etc etc

They did the old "hold spacebar until it becomes a new line" trick to make it look like a GM was talking. Sadly, they didn't put the GM with a name, and it's still very easily spotted.

Amusing, nonetheless.

I had almost this exact tell earlier today. It would appear that they're desperate to gain access into our accounts.

Also SE knows about it since when you log in you get that warning about receiving tells about going to a website and you have to click ok before SE lets you actually log in.

I knew this from day 1, but that never stopped me from impotently raging at them. It is my secret hope to be GM'd for extreme verbal abuse by a gilseller.
