Rock Band Official thread

I take it back. It wasn't for *no* reason, just a crappy one. They needed to make French manuals (dammit Quebec) and finalize some licensing issues in Canada.

Yet another reason to not like french canadians.

Necrooooo

So me and my friends *finally* got our copies this past week. The vocals suprised me with just how much it requires out of you.

Do have a small question though. How do you end up using the 360 headsets with the guitar or drums? The pictographic instructions are very nice in getting the headset and adapter to fit together, however, they just say in so many pictures "plugs into guitar or drums". There doesn't seem to be any obvious plugins on either, or I'm blind. No official forum posts seem to help either. Anyone figure this out?

EDIT: Nevermind. Found em. Rather inconspicuous. Don't feel bad about missing them the first couple go-overs.

Everyone should post their instruments.

I need to fix the lettering on the guitar, it's a tad crooked. Bass looks fine as far as I can tell.

Need to actually find something that works well as a drum design.

Gonna pick this up today after my bro gets off from work. He'll be guitar and I'll try (and fail) at drums.

Vocals are pretty easy once you get your pitch under control. Which I can't. Still 4 Starred most of the songs on easy despite having an awful pitch range(sup 5 of 8 notes)

Brother did guitar and I did drums. Easy isn't half bad, but I tried on three separate occasions to upgrade to normal and it felt like too huge a leap for me. I can't get the timing down between pedal+note followed by note+note.

You should hook me up with an invite next time you play. Haven't really touched bass yet since you can't use it in solo tour.

What time you up for? I'm usually home by 2:45 CST, though I'll have limbus around 5.
Gamertag's Andy210juggalo (brother's account, we both share it)

This game is so freakin addictive. Hand-eye-foot coordination blows my ass off.

I've been able to 3-4 star reliably on most songs on Medium drums. Getting better...

I can normally 5 star a medium drum track. I really should be playing on hard, except there's some freaky stuff with the bass that I'm hoping comes in the end of medium that i can practice on, because I definitely can't reliably pass hard songs.

I can 4 star drums on medium no problem, i've only 5 stared a few and i've never failed a song. I havent played any on hard yet though and i played one on extreme the first day i had it ... 5% lmao.

This is my fav game as of now lol. Never had friends doing such embarrasing shit like this before. Actualy trying to hit high notes while drinking with about 8 friends makes for some rediculous times.

Did a mix of bass and singing today. IMO I like bass over guitar because of the repetition involved. Singing was kinda weird, as I'd have to shift an octave higher for the lower notes.

Well, it's not notes you've gotta hit. Just pitch. My problem with Vocals is that the microphone, for me atleast, skips ranges in upper/lower scales of pitches.

Also, expert Vocals is probably the hardest thing in the game. Sure, hitting notes on drums and guitar are pretty rough when theres so many, but with Vocals, you need exact pitch matching, and be articulate enough for the game to not think you fucked up on a phrase.

I'd also have liked a little warm up segment for vocals, cause it seems like even though phrases appear on the same line of the scale in a lot of songs, the pitch actually required for them are drastically different. Thats totally not a problem with drums or guitar/bass, since notes are always going to be the same. It's probably not bad for someone who sings professionally, but for me, I botch a lot of the begining of a song, just getting down pitch ranges. Once I get it, things usually run smoothly though.

I only have that problem with songs I don't recognize the lyrics to. Mostly bonus songs or songs from bands I've never really cared for.
Also, try Green Grass and High Tides? Had a leader chose it online earlier, and I went in with Hard bass thinking it wouldn't be too bad. I botched one attempt trying to keep the rhythm during the guitar solos, and soon after being saved I botched again because I kept tripping over my fingers. Ended up being revived again and barely made it to the end. But god damn, that song's long.
Not fun.

I hate that song on medium drums because it goes RY Bass RY Bass RY Bass for like 3 minutes during the uber long guitar solo that drowns everything else out, so if you lose your beat it's hard to get it back. And those patterns just mess with me.
